Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar explains why real wellness has nothing to do with flat abs and everything to do with how your body and mind perform daily.

Capacity, immunity and emotional balance are the real signs of lasting health.
Good health is often judged by physical appearance, but celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar believes this approach misses the bigger picture. Kareena Kapoor’s long-time nutritionist says real wellness is not about flat abs or looking fit on the outside, but about how well your body and mind function every single day.
Rujuta Diwekar recently broke down three simple yet powerful parameters that truly define good health, capacity, immunity, and emotional balance.
Capacity: Doing More With Less Effort
Explaining the first marker, Rujuta says, “Capacity means your body can do more, with less effort.” She shared a personal example of a cousin who earlier struggled to climb a hill but could do it comfortably a few years later.
“He could go up, enjoy tea and snacks at the top, and come back down without any knee or leg pain,” she noted. According to Rujuta, this improvement comes from regular exercise and a proper diet. While such progress may not be visible on the outside, it makes a huge difference internally. “When capacity increases, you feel stronger, more capable, and more confident,” she adds.
Immunity: Staying Well In Challenging Situations
The second marker of good health is immunity. Rujuta explains that strong immunity allows people to stay healthy even when exposed to stressful environments.
“You can go to weddings or holidays, be around sick people, and still stay well,” she says. Good immunity also means fewer everyday health issues like acidity, bloating, headaches, or frequent flu. Over time, such individuals rely less on medicines, antibiotics, and anti-allergy drugs, which Rujuta calls a true sign of wellness.
Emotional Balance: Managing Anger and Negativity
Rujuta’s third marker focuses on mental health. She stresses the importance of emotional balance and compassion.
“Managing anger and developing compassion is just as important,” she explains. According to her, useless comments or negativity should not drain your energy. When people stop reacting to things that don’t matter, they protect their mental health and live happier, healthier lives.
Consistency, Not Shortcuts, Defines Fitness
Supporting this philosophy, celebrity fitness trainer Vinod Channa, who has trained stars like Anant Ambani and Nita Ambani, explains that fitness is built over the years. “Celebrities stay fit during film shoots because they work really hard, consistently, over the years,” he says.
Channa adds that actors plan their workouts and diets months and maintain discipline even during 12-hour shooting days. “This isn’t something that happens in a day,” he notes.
