The final round of the 2026 PGA Championship sees a horde of challengers chasing after an unlikely leader.
Alex Smalley, ranked No. 78 in the world, was on top of the leaderboard as Saturday drew to a close, putting up a 2 under mark on the day and 6 under overall. Smalley started off slowly, bogeying four of the front nine holes, but surged back, birdieing five of the back nine.
He’s in a solid spot, but a huge number of golfers are within striking distance. Jon Rahm, Ludvig Åberg, Matti Schmid, Nick Taylor and Aaron Rai are all tied for second two strokes back, while Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Reed and Maverick McNealy are three back. Any of them stand to make a run if Smalley falters.
