Indian benchmark indices, Nifty 50 and Sensex, extended their rally to the sixth consecutive session, led by gains in Auto, Financials and Banking stocks, amid the weekly expiry of Sensex contracts.
That said, BSE Sensex ended at 79,310.01, up 2,008.61 points or 2.60%. On the other hand, NSE Nifty 50 ended at 24,536.60, up 576 points or 2.40%.
Among individual stocks, Bajaj Finance, IndiGo and ICICI Bank were among the top gainers on 30-share BSE Sensex index. On the flipside, NTPC and BEL were among the top drags.
Broader markets, too, ended in green. Nifty Small Cap 100 and Nifty Mid Cap 100 indices surged about 0.5% and 2%, respectively.
Barring Nifty Media and Chemicals, all sectors ended in the green. Nifty Financials and Auto indices were the top gainers, rising over 4% each.
Oil Prices Today
Oil prices extended their decline on Thursday, with Brent crude trading below the $95-per-barrel mark after plunging nearly 9% in the previous session to hit a two-month low.
Hopes of a possible de-escalation in the US-Iran conflict following the Democrats’ strong performance in the US midterm elections have eased concerns over potential disruptions to global oil supplies.
