Dave Bautista has revealed he has gained another 20 pounds of muscle to play Kratos in Prime Video’s God of War series, bringing him to 250 pounds.
The 57-year-old actor shared the update in a video on his Instagram story, with the text “Gained 20 lbs for GOW” and a “250” sticker, showing his current weight.
He wore a God of War T-shirt in the clip. It follows an earlier update in September, when he said he was three weeks into weight training again and had two more months “to get to where I need to be”.

Bautista signed on in August to play Kratos, replacing Ryan Hurst, who was originally cast but tore a bicep on set.
Hurst’s surgery would have pushed production into 2027. Reports said Hurst had gained about 40 pounds for the role, and that at least four episodes featuring him would need to be reshot.
Bautista’s deal closed on 20 August.
Filming began in Vancouver in February, and production will reshoot all scenes with Hurst using Bautista.
Bautista’s comments suggest filming will restart in November, though one report put the return in October.
No target weight has been confirmed by the production, although one speculative estimate puts him near 280 pounds.
Prime Video has given the series a two-season order, with both seasons set to shoot back-to-back.
It adapts the two most recent God of War games, in which Kratos raises his ten-year-old son, Atreus, played by Callum Vinson, while battling the gods of the Norse pantheon.
Kratos and Atreus set out to spread the ashes of Faye, the boy’s mother and Kratos’ wife. A release date has not been announced.
Bautista has transformed his body before.
In 2024, he said he had slimmed to about 240 pounds, down from 315 for Knock at the Cabin.
His other films include My Spy and The Wrecking Crew, and he next appears in Road House 2 and the Highlander reboot.
