Stephanie Buttermore, influencer fiancée of YouTube star Jeff Nippard, dies aged 36

Popular fitness influencer Dr. Stephanie Buttermore has died, her fiancé, YouTube star Jeff Nippard, announced Friday. She was 36 years old.

Nippard’s team shared the news of Buttermore’s death in a statement posted to Instagram, which read: “It is with profound sorrow that we share the sudden passing of Jeff’s fiancée and partner of ten years, Stephanie. As many of you know, Stephanie meant the world to Jeff.

“She will be remembered for her warmth and compassion, her love for her family, and her PhD research on ovarian cancer.”

The statement concluded by asking fans to respect Nippard’s request for privacy.

At the time of writing, no information on Buttermore’s cause of death has been revealed.

The news comes just days after Buttermore celebrated her birthday on February 25. Nippard has recently shared a photo of the two of them to celebrate Valentine’s Day. “Relationshipmaxxing with tea time to lower cortisol levels,” he captioned the post.

According to her YouTube channel, Buttermore was a cancer research scientist who earned a PhD in pathology and cell biology “with a focus on the molecular mechanisms that drive ovarian cancer progression.”

On Instagram, she had more than 500,000 followers, where she shared workout videos, body-positive content and personal photos with Nippard.

However, her last post was shared in May 2024, where she explained her decision to quit Instagram for her mental health.

“I no longer struggle with anxiety. At all. It was almost crippling a few years ago to the point I felt I couldn’t breathe or leave my house,” she shared in the caption.

“Now I really don’t have to care whether people liked what I posted or if they are saying negative things about me. I also don’t have highs and lows from periodic dopamine hits every time I open the app. I’m living in a judgment free space and it’s peaceful here.”

Meanwhile, Nippard boasts 3.7 million followers on Instagram and 8.2 million subscribers on YouTube, where he shares science-backed fitness content.

Nippard and Buttermore announced their engagement in October 2022. Nippard shared that their relationship began after he sent her a message on social media, and the pair “immediately formed a friendship.”

“We started Skyping for 3-4 hours every day for about a month (no joke) until I went to visit her in Florida from Canada,” he wrote. “Our first date was a shoulder workout and I will never forget it.”

On Nippard’s most recent Instagram post, fans flooded the comments with messages of condolence.

“I’m so sorry for your loss Jeff,” shared bodybuilder Johny Münster.

“We love you so much jeff….been following along yours and Stephanie’s journey for the better part of 10 years. my heart breaks for you. so much love,” added another person.

A third wrote: “Stephanie was an incredible woman. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.”
