Sharon Osbourne has admitted that her relationship with Thelma Riley — her late husband Ozzy Osbourne’s first wife — and their three children, Jessica, Louis and Elliot, hasn’t been easy.
During Saturday’s episode of the Dumb Blonde podcast hosted by Bunnie XO, Sharon discussed her blended family, which also includes the three children she shares with the late Black Sabbath alum.
“I’m very close with Ozzy’s son [Louis],” Sharon said, describing the “very complex” family dynamic. “And you know, it’s always the way the girls go with the moms, the guys, you know. And we have a great relationship, and I adore him, and my kids adore him. It’s a unit, you know.”
The “Crazy Train” singer’s wife reflected during the podcast on why she thought Ozzy’s marriage to Riley — from 1971 to 1982 — did not last.
“Ozzy’s wife was married very early,” she said. “She got pregnant very early, and she was married and had a child to somebody before she met Ozzy. So, when Ozzy and, her name is Thelma, got together, she had a five-year-old child, and they married.”
“Ozzy was already in Black Sabbath,” Sharon continued. “And they were just starting to break, and she was a student and they were young.”
She noted that their lives started to grow apart as Riley raised her child while Ozzy was on tour.
Despite the former couple’s relationship not panning out, Sharon said that Riley and Ozzy never had large disagreements when it came to raising their children.
“They were two totally different people,” she told Bunnie XO, adding that they had “great kids.”
“That was their connection was the kids, and I knew her, but we were so different. I was a big-mouthed flash kid, and she was a student,” Sharon continued. “So, I would come in a room and eff ‘em blind, you know, and she would look at me like ‘She’s crazy. She’s crazy.’ And I get it.”
“So, we had nothing in common other than I was always respectful to her because she was Ozzy’s wife and they had their children together.”
Ozzy’s family announced that he died from a heart attack in July 2025 at 76 years old.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time,” the statement read at the time.
