Prince Harry is focussed on one key objective whether his return to the UK would see an invitation from King Charles or not: safety of his children.
The Duke of Sussex has made it clear from the beginning that he doesn’t feel safe enough to bring his wife, Meghan, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, back to the UK after his police protection was unceremoniously stripped off.
There was a report that suggested that Harry is waiting for an invitation to Sandringham this summer along with an “automatic” security detail for him and his family. Harry is due to be back in the UK for a promotional event relating to the Birmingham Invictus Games and to attend an annual WellChild Award ceremony.
According to a friend cited by the Sunday Times Harry would “love” to accept the invite he was extended one. Although, The Mirror reports that it is not an indication that Harry is dropping hints about needing one.
While Harry is not opposed to the idea is the schedules aligned but he is not going out of his way to ask for one. He is laser-focussed on the risk assessment verdict that is expected to be announced this year.
The update comes after royal commentators were not happy about the implication that the King should extend the invitation to Harry.
Moreover, a friend of Charles was quick to respond to the report that if Harry “truly wishes” to see his father then it would be better if his camp “allowed such matters to be discussed privately”.
