Labor Department accused of echoing Nazi slogan in social media post

Labor Department accused of echoing Nazi slogan in social media post

A controversial social media post from the Department of Labor has poured gasoline on already smoldering accusations that the Trump administration is amplifying rhetoric and imagery linked to extreme right-wing ideologies.

The video in the post, shared Saturday, features a quick-cut slideshow of artworks depicting glorified scenes of American history, foregrounded by a statue of George Washington.

The caption above that video reads, “One Homeland. One People. One Heritage. Remember who you are, American.”

Social media users quickly noted similarities — in word, form and sentiment — between the Labor Department’s post and a slogan used by the Nazi Party.

“US Government posting a version of ‘Ein volk, ein reich, ein führer,'” said Terry Virts, a former NASA astronaut and current Democratic congressional candidate, in an X post. “I don’t see how this ends well.”

The slogan “Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Führer” translates to “One People, One Country, One Leader.” It was “one of the central slogans used by Hitler and the Nazi Party,” according to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

The two messages are not a word-for-word match, to be sure. But while experts caution against jumping to conclusions, many see numerous other examples of the Trump administration — including the Labor Department — echoing white supremacist language, ideas or aesthetics online.

Bill Braniff, executive director of American University’s Polarization & Extremism Research & Innovation Lab, said he believes that, “When you look at this one post in the context of all the others, it’s not an accident.”

Even at face value, the post raises red flags, Braniff said in an interview. The assertion of Americans having “one heritage,” for instance, clashes with the nation’s history of taking in people from all over the world and establishes the idea of an “in group” and an “out group,” he said.

Jon Lewis, a research fellow at the Program on Extremism at George Washington University, agreed.

“You don’t want to try and ever read into the tea leaves on something that might not be there,” he told CNBC. But “at a certain point, you have to ask how many times until it’s not a coincidence anymore.”

“At a certain point, you can’t even really call it a dog whistle, it’s just a whistle,” Lewis added in an email. “How many times will official [U.S. government] accounts post openly white supremacist content without any repercussions?”

The Labor Department, led by Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, did not respond to CNBC’s request for comment. A spokesperson for the department previously said, “The social media campaign was created to celebrate American workers and the American Dream.”

That comment was given in response to The Guardian’s report on union leaders denouncing the Labor Department over the post.

“It is no surprise that a fascist regime would post fascist propaganda on a fascist social media network like X, but it remains concerning to see the DOL making posts that serve a fascist, white supremacist agenda,” Puneet Maharaj, executive director of National Nurses United, the country’s largest nurses’ union, told the outlet.

A trail of accusations

Labor’s post is hardly the first time the Trump administration has been accused of spreading far-right or white nationalist propaganda through social media. But in recent weeks, the government has appeared to double down on some of the same controversial messaging.

On Wednesday, ahead of diplomatic talks on President Donald Trump‘s increasingly aggressive efforts to acquire Greenland, the White House shared a possibly AI-generated cartoon showing two dog sleds at a crossroads, with one path leading to the U.S. and the other leading to Russia and China.

“Which way, Greenland man?” read the text above that image, which was posted on the White House’s official X account.

Critics have accused the account of echoing “Which Way Western Man?,” the title of a 1978 book defending Hitler and advocating for a white nationalist and antisemitic worldview. The book was written by William Gayley Simpson, said to be a member of the neo-Nazi group the National Alliance.

The phrase has gained popularity among the far right in recent years. It has been used in memes in which an image purporting to represent modern society is contrasted unfavorably with an image representing tradition.

The White House’s post wasn’t the first time a version of the phrase had appeared on government social media accounts.

Five months earlier, the Department of Homeland Security had posted an ICE recruitment image captioned, “Which way, American man?”

Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, at the time, called reporters’ questions about that post “embarrassing.”

In response to questions about the posts from the White House and Labor Department accounts, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told CNBC, “It seems that the mainstream media has become a meme of their own: the deranged leftist who claims everything they dislike must be Nazi propaganda. This line of attack is boring and tired. Get a grip.”

On Jan. 8, the Labor Department posted a photo of a saluting Trump under the words “trust the plan” — a recurring phrase among followers of the far-right conspiracy known as QAnon.

Last Friday, DHS’s official accounts posted an ICE recruitment image declaring, “We’ll have our home again.”

That phrase echoes the title of the song “By God We’ll Have Our Home Again,” the lyrics of which have been “credited to a U.S. fraternal neo-Nazi group,” according to the Toronto Holocaust Museum’s Hatepedia.

McLaughlin, asked on CNN about DHS’s use of the phrase, accused critics of “manufacturing fake outrage.”

“There are plenty of poems, there are plenty of songs, there are plenty of books with the same title. And the fact that people would like to cherry-pick something of white nationalism … it’s no wonder we’re seeing such vast, rampant assaults against our law enforcement,” she said.

The DHS post, which also featured a stealth bomber and a cowboy riding horseback at the foot of a snowy mountain, came two days after ICE agent Jonathan Ross shot and killed Renee Nicole Good during an altercation in Minneapolis.

The Southern Poverty Law Center said that the administration’s turn toward allegedly white nationalist content on government social media channels may have begun last June, when DHS shared a cartoon of Uncle Sam calling on Americans to “report all foreign invaders” to ICE.

Some of the most scrutinized posts have generated the heaviest engagement online. The Labor Department post from last weekend, for example, has tallied nearly 23 million views on X alone, possibly making it the account’s most-seen post.

But they fit into a broader messaging strategy that frequently promotes images and slogans evoking classic wartime propaganda posters and idealized depictions of Americana and U.S. history.

The Labor Department has recently taken to sharing historical paintings captioned with, at times, overtly Christian messages. It also recently launched a social media campaign featuring AI-seeming illustrations of almost exclusively white men.

In November, the family of famed 20th-century painter Norman Rockwell accused DHS of misusing their ancestor’s work “for the cause of persecution toward immigrant communities and people of color.”

Some extremism experts say the messaging has become overt.

One way to know that, said Braniff, is that “the neo-Nazis themselves have noticed” and are talking about the administration’s rhetoric.

Other extremism experts and scholars of fascism have also noticed, as have the union leaders who have called out the Labor Department, he added.

“It has to do with both the frequency of content coming out, but also the backdrop,” Braniff said. “It seems quite overt at this point.”

Want A BDA Flat In Bengaluru? Residency Requirement Could Soon Drop

Last Updated:

By lowering eligibility threshold, BDA hopes to attract more buyers, improve uptake of its housing projects, and make better use of existing residential inventory across the city.

Buying a Bangalore Development Authority flat has traditionally required long-term residency in the city, a condition that has kept many potential buyers out of the process. That may soon change. BDA is considering easing its residency requirement, a move that could open up its housing schemes to a much wider section of Bengaluru’s population.

The proposal is still under discussion, but if approved, it would mark a significant shift in how eligibility for BDA flats is determined.

What the rule change could look like

At present, applicants must show at least ten years of residence in Bengaluru to be eligible for BDA housing allotments. Under the proposed revision, this requirement could be reduced to just two years.

Officials say applicants would need to provide proof of residence in Bengaluru along with an Aadhaar card listing a local address. The relaxed rule is expected to apply to both Karnataka residents and those from other states who are currently living and working in the city.

BDA officials have clarified that the proposal is not meant to address a backlog of applications. According to the authority, there are currently no pending housing applications, as earlier ones have already been processed. The idea, instead, is to widen the pool of eligible applicants for future allotments.

Why BDA is considering the change

One of the key reasons behind the proposed revision is the presence of unsold BDA flats and houses. Officials believe that the existing ten-year residency rule is too restrictive and limits demand.

By lowering the eligibility threshold, BDA hopes to attract more buyers, improve uptake of its housing projects, and make better use of existing residential inventory across the city.

Mixed reactions from residents

The proposal has triggered varied responses. Some long-time Bengaluru residents feel that easing the residency rule could dilute the preference historically given to people who have lived in the city for decades. They worry that shorter residency requirements may increase competition and reduce their chances in future allotments.

Others argue that Bengaluru’s workforce includes a large number of people who have lived in the city for several years, contribute to its economy, and should be given a fair chance to own a home through public housing schemes.

What happens next

For now, the proposal remains under consideration and has not been formally approved. Any change to the residency rule will require official notification before it comes into effect.

Prospective homebuyers are advised to watch for updates from BDA, as the final decision could reshape eligibility norms for public housing in Bengaluru in the coming months.

Who’s Sienna Rose? Olivia Dean’s rival or a digital phantom—here’s what you need to know

A mysterious singer is buzzing on social media whom many believe might be a phantom, as she has already amassed over three million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Soul singer Sienna Rose took the music scene by storm with her muggy hits, leaving fans praising her ‘melodious’ and ‘captivating’ voice.

Sienna Rose, one of Spotify’s most-listened-to artists, as been revealed to be nothing more than an AI-made-up persona, despite the fact that she had earned £2,000 a day through their streams.

But despite earning comparisons to UK chart-topper Olivia Dean, it’s now been revealed that Sienna’s voice, image, and songs are all AI-generated, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Spotify continued to host Sienna’s music without any disclaimer about her authenticity.

According to The Sun, she is now believed to be the creation of the same individual behind a popular AI reggae act called Babylon Burn, which boasts 756,000 listeners monthly on Spotify.

Let’s find out what the buzzing is about, Sienna Rose?

Sienna dropped her six-track EP in September last year, titled Velvet Embrace, followed by an eight-track project the very next month and a nine-track extended player in November called The Shape of Tenderness.

Fans, despite the doubts over authenticity, are buzzing with her captivating music.

Sienna continued her streak of hit tracks by releasing a ten-track ‘debut album’ Honey On The Moon in December.

The synopsis read: ‘Inspired by the analogue texture of 1960s soul yet rooted in today’s sound, Sienna’s music feels cinematic and deeply personal.

Every note she sings carries a sense of truth and beauty, making Sienna Rose not just a performer, but a storyteller of the heart.’

The publication also revealed the name behind this phantom on Spotify as Robert Lancaster but didn’t mention any further details.

Although Spotify did confirm to the Daily Mail that a wide range of acts use AI to make music, meaning policing its use and labeling their content can prove difficult.

How does Spotify deal with AI artists?

The outlet further added, while incorporating the version of Spotify: ‘AI is a fast-moving shift for the entire music industry, and it’s not always possible to draw a simple line between ‘AI’ and ‘non-AI’ music.’

Spotify, the music streaming platform, clarified its stance over AI-generated music content, stating, “Spotify is focused on the actions that guard harmful AI use cases, including removing spam and deceptive content, strengthening enforcement against impersonation and unauthorized voice cloning, and supporting industry-standard AI disclosures in music credits.”

NATO ambassador says Europe 'has a tendency to overreact' over Greenland dispute

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, U.S. ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker pushed back against growing European backlash over Washington’s focus on Greenland after France announced new military exercises with Denmark, saying Arctic security is a core American defense interest and that Europe “has a tendency to overreact.”

Asked whether the dispute reflects American pressure or European inaction, Whitaker said, “This is ultimately an issue between the United States, Denmark and Greenland.”

Whitaker said Greenland’s importance has been clear for years as the ice melts, it reshapes the Arctic and opens new routes. “The security of the high north, which I’ve talked about a lot before this ever happened, is the most important issue,” he said. “As the ice thaws and as routes open up in the Arctic, Arctic security, and therefore the security of Greenland, which is the northern flank of the continental United States, is crucial.”

GREENLAND LEADERS PUSH BACK ON TRUMP’S CALLS FOR US CONTROL OF THE ISLAND: ‘WE DON’T WANT TO BE AMERICANS’

He stressed that Greenland’s location makes it central to U.S. defense planning. “If you think about Greenland as part of the access to the naval assets, that monitoring and awareness and fortification of that part of the Western Hemisphere is crucial for the long-term security of the United States,” Whitaker said.

Whitaker said recent diplomacy shows the issue can be addressed without escalation. “I know that a very successful meeting happened between the Danes and Greenland and Vice President Vance and Secretary of State Rubio, so I think it’s going to be constructive,” he said.

Still, he cautioned European allies against inflaming tensions. “Europe sometimes has a tendency to overreact anytime that an issue is put out on the table,” Whitaker said. “This is one of those things where cooler heads need to prevail.”

NATO, deterrence and the “Reagan spirit”

Speaking from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Whitaker used Reagan’s “peace through strength” doctrine as justification for pushing NATO allies to spend more and move faster.

“The most important thing that we’re doing at NATO is, one, the United States is strong. Nobody denies that. We have demonstrated through Midnight Hammer, through what we did in Venezuela and elsewhere, that the United States is capable and can project power. We want all of our allies inside of NATO to be equally as strong, and they’re not at this point in time,” he said.

He added, “Some of them have certainly become more capable, and that’s why you can’t just paint with a broad brush when it comes to all of our NATO allies. But there are some that are not.”

“Europe and the EU are going to have to untie their hands from behind their back,” he continued. “They’re going to have to deregulate, they are going to have to find more capital and economic growth, because at the end of the day, that’s what’s going to allow them to live up to the promises they’ve made to increase their defense spending and therefore their defense capabilities.”

He said, “One of the things that I’m talking about constantly with our friends downtown in the EU,” Whitaker added, “is that they have to get their economy going, and there are proven, tried-and-true ways to do it.”

Whitaker said his top priority is ensuring NATO allies follow through on the major defense commitments agreed to last year in The Hague.

“This is number one on my list right now,” he said, “making sure that the political commitments we made in The Hague turn into real military capabilities at NATO.”

He said proximity to Russia has shaped how seriously countries take the threat.

“You look at the Baltic countries like Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, and you look at the Nordic countries… they’re very aware of the threats that Russia [poses],” Whitaker said, citing Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea and its 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Poland, he added, stands out. “Poland is clear-eyed,” Whitaker said. “They’re gonna spend over 5% on core defense in the coming year or two.”

Others, he said, are still lagging. “I keep a dashboard, a one-page dashboard on my desk that is updated regularly,” Whitaker said. “It’s too soon to tell.” “It has to be on capabilities,” he said. “It has to make them stronger, ready to fight tonight.”

“President Trump announced a $1.5 trillion defense budget,” Whitaker said. “We’ve demonstrated our capabilities that nobody else can match right now.”

“I’m here at the Reagan Library, and it reminds me, Ronald Reagan really was able to put those policies in place to spur growth,” Whitaker said. “President Trump certainly has followed that same tradition, to unleash the American entrepreneur, unleash American innovation, and get out of the way, get the regulations out of the way so that American companies can grow and prosper.”

As NATO moves forward, Whitaker said pressure on allies will remain. “We’re asking our European and Canadian allies to do more,” he said. “So far, so good.”

Doctor Share 4 Food Types That Can Naturally 'Mimic Ozempic' & Help In Weight Loss

Last Updated:

Mumbai-based doctor Dr Manan Vora identified four food categories that might assist in replicating Ozempic effects because of their high fibre, protein, and healthy fat content.

Foods rich in protein, such as eggs, paneer, and curd can help you feel fuller.

Foods rich in protein, such as eggs, paneer, and curd can help you feel fuller.

A Mumbai doctor has revealed some common meals might “mimic Ozempic’s effect”—the weight-loss medication that has become popular in celebrity circles. Ozempic has become increasingly well-known in a health fad that’s attracting interest from gym influencers to A-listers checking their waistlines.

While celebrities and fitness enthusiasts have praised Ozempic for its ability to suppress appetite, Dr Manan Vora is advising followers to check their plates for more natural substitutes that affect hormones and reduce hunger without the need for a prescription.

“No food can match a laboratory drug in potency,” Dr Vora, orthopaedic surgeon and sport and exercise medicine expert, said on Instagram. “But there are foods that can influence appetite, slow down digestion, and make you feel fuller, and this is exactly what Ozempic does.”

Foods Boosting Satiety Hormones

Dr Vora’s first category includes foods rich in protein, such as eggs, paneer, and curd, which are already included in celebrity breakfast videos and big-screen product placements. Like the branded injectable, these meals may raise GLP-1 and PYY levels, which are known to indicate fullness, according to the doctor.

Ingredients That Slow Hunger

The second group consists of vegetables and lentils, including the simple dal and sabzi that have long been staple comfort dishes in Indian homes. According to Dr Vora, these basics can help slow digestion and reduce appetite, which could be beneficial for those who want to have a fit body.

Appetite-Controlling Whole Grains

The third category is made up of whole grains, such as oats, which provide slow-burning carbohydrates that satiate hunger. These have become breakfast champions for both weekend warriors and health influencers, blended into smoothie bowls or parfaits with popular toppings.

Power of Seeds

Lastly, Dr Vora highlighted flaxseeds and chia, the little stars of many viral health postings. These seeds swell into a gel in the stomach, delaying appetite. These are the same seeds that are used in popular morning routines and celebrity detox beverages.

Despite the hype, Dr Vora stressed that no meal has the same potency as a lab-developed drug. The real takeaway is choosing complete, high-protein, high-fibre meals, which can help regulate hunger and promote healthy eating practices.

Transfer window weekly: Could Madrid's Güler really join Arsenal? Guéhi latest?

The winter transfer window is open across Europe, and business is starting to get done. What are ESPN’s reporters hearing about possible deals?

Every Friday until February, we’ll bring you the latest updates and insights on the biggest transfer news.

Transfers homepage | Men’s grades | Women’s grades

Could Real Madrid‘s Arda Güler really join Arsenal?

After investing more than £250 million last summer to bolster the first-team squad, there has been an element of long-term planning in Arsenal’s next transfer moves. They are keen on 20-year-old Elche midfielder Rodrigo Mendoza, and Güler is another young player they are very much aware of.

The Türkiye international began the season looking like a key player in Xabi Alonso’s midfield. Part of the rationale behind Madrid’s decision not to move for Martín Zubimendi was a belief in Güler’s ability to develop in central midfield. But his involvement, and form, has diminished in recent months, and it’s not yet clear what role he will play under new coach Álvaro Arbeloa, although he started Wednesday’s Copa del Rey defeat at Albacete.

However, Arsenal have no plans to do anything significant in this window unless an opportunity presents itself in the final fortnight, and any formalised interest in Güler is much more likely in the summer — James Olley and Alex Kirkland

Man City have been eyeing Marc Guéhi. What’s the latest?

Manchester City want a center back with John Stones, Josko Gvardiol and Rúben Dias all out injured. Guéhi is viewed as a long-term target who could be brought in earlier under the right circumstances. City didn’t believe there would be much of an issue in finding a fee which is acceptable to Crystal Palace given they are set to lose the England international for nothing when his contract expires this summer.

It looked like it would run all window, given Guéhi knows he would have the pick of clubs at the end of the season and also benefit from the improved financial package when no transfer fee is involved.

But it seems City have managed to convince him. Sources have told ESPN that a deal for Guéhi is close to being agreed. Palace boss Oliver Glasner confirmed as much in a Friday news conference.

“My latest understanding is that a deal with Marc is in the final stages. I can’t confirm a club, because it’s still not done but it’s in the final stages,” Glasner said — Rob Dawson

Laurens: Signing Guehi in January is a no-brainer for Man City

Julien Laurens analyses the future of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

Chelsea‘s Enzo Fernández is on PSG‘s radar. Is that a possibility, or is it far-fetched?

PSG will be in the market for a midfielder this summer, and Fernández is certainly on their radar. Manager Luis Enrique and sporting director Luis Campos are big fans of the Argentina international, believing he could fit three different positions across the team’s midfield.

However, this will not be straightforward. PSG are aware that Chelsea would command a significant fee in any potential deal, given he joined in 2023 in a Premier League-record €121 million transfer and his contract runs until 2031.

Fernández is perhaps the biggest factor here. There were whispers about his supposed unhappiness at Chelsea in the summer of 2024, but nothing materialized. Chelsea would be reluctant to lose a player who has often captained the side when Reece James was unavailable.

Chelsea are not under financial pressure to let him go, and his long-term contract helps in that department, too. It means Fernández would have to try to instigate a move if something were to happen.

It is worth noting that he was very close to former manager Enzo Maresca, who was sacked earlier this month. If Fernández opens the door to a move, PSG would be interested — Julien Laurens and James Olley

Speaking of Chelsea, they have a new manager. Where does that leave the “bomb squad?”

New Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has said he plans to speak to the two most high-profile members of that group — Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi — but both are expected to depart.

ESPN has previously reported Sterling would prefer a permanent move over a loan after West Ham approached Chelsea to take the winger until the end of the season. Fulham have previously shown an interest. Napoli are also monitoring Sterling, while Roma and Lyon are interested in Disasi.

However, Chelsea are at their maximum of six overseas loans as permitted by UEFA, so either that would have to change, or a foreign club would have to secure a permanent deal for either player — James Olley

Barcelona have been uncharacteristically quiet. What transfers could happen there?

João Cancelo‘s arrival on loan from Al Hilal this week is likely to be the only signing Barça make this month, but there could be some departures. All eyes are on goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, who could leave after losing the No.1 spot to Joan García. The LaLiga leaders are also fielding requests for some of the youngsters who are not getting regular game time.

Midfielder Marc Bernal, recently back from a long-term injury, is one of those players. LaLiga side Girona are among the clubs to have acquired about his availability, but there’s nothing concrete yet. Barça’s stance was previously that he would not be leaving; there is now an acknowledgement that it may be better for him to go out and play. Roony Bardghji is also drawing interest from across Europe. The response from Barça in the Sweden forward’s case, for now, is that he will not leave this month — Sam Marsden

Harvey Elliott has played 96 minutes in the Premier League this season. Could someone rescue him this month?

Elliott is still in limbo at Aston Villa due to parent club Liverpool having no recourse to cut short his season-long loan spell at Villa Park.

The 22-year-old has not kicked a ball for Unai Emery’s team since a four-minute substitute outing against Feyenoord in the Europa League on Oct. 4, and his last Premier League appearance came against Fulham on Sept. 28.

The England under-21 midfielder has been fit and available for selection, but with Villa having to complete a £35 million permanent transfer once Elliott makes 10 league appearances, Emery has since said that the club have no plans to sign the player, and he will make no further appearances.

But with Elliott’s one-minute appearance for Liverpool at Newcastle last August meaning he has played for two clubs this season, he is unable to seal a new loan away from Villa due to FIFA rules prohibiting players turning out for three clubs in one season.

Liverpool are aware of Elliott’s situation, but it will require Villa to cut short his loan and send him back to Anfield, triggering a financial penalty, and there are no indications of that happening this window — Mark Ogden

Liverpool are down to Jeremie Frimpong and Joe Gomez at right back. Will they replace Conor Bradley?

Liverpool’s defensive options already looked limited before Bradley’s season-ending knee injury. Now, with the Northern Ireland international sidelined, they are down to the bare bones.

Considering center back Giovanni Leoni is also set to be out until the beginning of next term, it would make sense for Arne Slot’s side to add reinforcements before the window closes to give themselves the best possible chance of securing a top-four finish. However, at present, Liverpool are unlikely to dip into the market, with midfielders Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones capable of dropping back to right back in an emergency.

Liverpool still retain an interest in Palace’s Guéhi, though, and it remains to be seen whether they will bring forward their summer plans should City make a move for the defender this month — Beth Lindop

Tighe not sure Conor Gallagher solves any problems for Tottenham

Sam Tighe questions why Spurs have opted to sign Conor Gallagher over a more creative midfielder.

– LaLiga side Villarreal remain in talks for Orlando City and USMNT defender Alex Freeman, though a source with knowledge of the talks said the two sides remain “far apart” on an agreement. ESPN reported last month that Orlando has offered Freeman what is called a max-U22 deal that could see Freeman receive an eight-fold increase in salary from last year’s figure of $105,000. — Jeff Carlisle

– U.S. youth international and San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Cruz Medina is close to signing with Liga MX giants Chivas, a source has told ESPN. The 19-year-old represented the U.S. at the 2023 U17 World Cup, but has also trained with Mexico’s youth national team thanks to his dual-national status. – Bournemouth have entered the race to sign Vasco da Gama teenage striker Rayan as a replacement for Antoine Semenyo, following his departure to Man City. Espanyol are exploring a move for Porto winger Ángel Alarcón as they look to boost their push for European football. The quirk to this deal would be that they could give local rivals Barcelona an unexpected cash boost if they do sign Alarcón. Barça are due a large percentage of any future transfer fee for the forward, who made five appearances for the LaLiga leaders before moving to Portugal. — Marsden

Óscar Mingueza is another one to watch over the next two weeks. Juventus are among the clubs leading the way to sign the Celta Vigo defender on a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer. However, a January deal for a small fee has not been ruled out, either, with Celta no longer as confident he will pen new terms. — Marsden

Crystal Palace and Angers are nearing a full agreement for the permanent transfer of striker Sidiki Cherif. At 19-years-old, he among Ligue 1‘s brightest young stars. He is powerful, strong, quick and good on the ball — a player Palace believe will fit perfectly into their system and the Premier League. — Laurens

Hirving Lozano‘s future is uncertain after San Diego FC announced they would not be signing him, making his search for a new team more difficult. In Mexico, several teams have told ESPN that they cannot afford the winger’s salary, and in Europe, Real Oviedo, part of the Mexican Pachuca group where Lozano made his professional debut, haven’t ruled out signing him, although they are not in negotiations. MLS side Atlanta United also remain a possibility. — ESPN Deportes
