Air Force One carrying Trump to Davos turns around after

A “minor electrical issue” forced Air Force One to turn around and return to Maryland less than an hour after takeoff Tuesday night as it was headed for Davos, Switzerland, with President Trump aboard, White House officials said. The president then departed for Switzerland aboard a new plane about one hour later.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters aboard the plane that, after takeoff from Joint Base Andrews, the crew identified a “minor electrical issue,” and, out of an abundance of caution, chose to turn around and return to the base.

Air Force One landed back at the base at 11:07 p.m. Eastern Time.

Reporters had said that the lights in the press cabin briefly went out after takeoff, but no explanation was offered.

The president then boarded a new aircraft, which took off at around midnight. The second aircraft is an Air Force C-32, a modified Boeing 757 normally used by the president for domestic trips to smaller airports, according to the Associated Press.

Mr. Trump is headed to Davos for the World Economic Forum. He was scheduled to address the forum at about 8:30 a.m. ET Wednesday, shortly after landing, but that could be delayed.

“This will be an interesting trip,” Mr. Trump told reporters on the White House lawn shortly before departing for Joint Base Andrews. “I have no idea what is going to happen. But you are well represented.”

There are currently two modified Boeing 747s that serve as Air Force One. Both have been in service since 1990. They were set to be replaced in 2024 with modified Boeing 747s, but the completion of the first replacement plane was delayed until 2027, and the second delayed to 2028, according to the U.S. Air Force.

Last summer, Mr. Trump confirmed that the Qatari royal family had donated a Boeing 747-8 jumbo aircraft valued at $400 million to the president to eventually be used as Air Force One. However, renovating the plane could cost several hundred million dollars before it could be ready for use, Air Force Secretary Troy Meink said last June.

Trump claims NATO would have collapsed without him - SUCH TV

US President Donald Trump has claimed that NATO would not have survived without his support, asserting that the military alliance would have been reduced to “ashes” had he not intervened.

Speaking to the media at the White House on Tuesday, Trump stated that NATO’s continued existence was largely due to his efforts.

“If I had not supported it, NATO would not exist today. It’s unfortunate, but it’s the truth,” he remarked.

The US president further stated that no individual or American president had done more for NATO than he had, reiterating his long-standing position that his administration pushed alliance members to increase defense spending and take greater responsibility for collective security.

Trump’s comments come amid ongoing debates over the future of NATO and the role of the United States within the alliance.

His remarks once again underscore his belief that American leadership under his presidency played a decisive role in strengthening and sustaining the transatlantic military bloc.

Hoosiers receive heroes’ welcome in return to Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Indiana Hoosiers were ready to party Tuesday night, and hundreds of loyal fans joined them when they arrived back on campus in Bloomington.

Turning out in freezing temperatures and brutally cold wind chills, fans, players and coaches celebrated college football’s implausible national champions. The heartwarming scene reminded fans how Indiana’s journey emulated the Hollywood version in “Hoosiers.”

“Hoo, hoo, hoo, Hoo-siers,” fans chanted as six team buses pulled into the south side of the team’s practice facility.

At traditional football powers such as Alabama, Michigan or Ohio State, mid-January scenes like this can be an expectation. Bloomington is different.

Here, success is measured in banners rather than trophies, and athletes are expected to pride themselves on playing for the name on the front of their jerseys. Here, fans embrace tales of the work ethic of players from the small dots on their state map and pride themselves on the notion that in 49 other states, basketball is just, well, basketball. In Indiana, it’s akin to a religion.

Coach Curt Cignetti and his football Hoosiers are upending those traditions.

In two seasons, they created a compelling story — a rags-to-riches tale of college football’s losingest program capturing its first national title. Indiana beat Miami 27-21 Monday night on the Hurricanes’ home field — the pro-Hoosiers crowd made it feel like a game in Bloomington — and sealed the milestone with an interception by the nephew of a former Miami player.

How inspirational was this season?

“I am a Purdue graduate, but I have worked at IU for almost 20 years, and I told my colleagues today this is the first year ever I rooted for IU,” Leah Mullins said, referring to Indiana’s biggest rival. “I had to pull myself away from the Boilermakers because this season has just been so inspiring and so exciting and there’s just like, such a camaraderie within the community.”

That sentiment was on full display Tuesday night.

Whether it was people dressed in Indiana’s trademark crimson-and-cream candy-striped pants, IU window flags fluttering in the breezy air or the Hoosiers victory flag waving high above the stadium with the sun setting behind it, the excitement was evident.

On the main street leading to the stadium, somebody added the words “national champ” to a display of wooden cutouts that has steadily grown with each win this season. The Hoosiers became the first team since the 1890s to finish 16-0.

There were long lines to purchase national championship gear at a local sporting goods store earlier Tuesday, and when word came that the team had landed at Indianapolis International Airport, about an hour’s drive northwest of Bloomington, the parking lots started filling up.

But this is so new to Indiana, many fans were in the wrong location to catch a glimpse of Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza, defensive leader Aiden Fisher, Cignetti or the trophy. So they ran to their cars, followed the blaring sirens from the police escort and pulled in behind the buses.

“I haven’t seen Bloomington so connected and so ecstatic over anything in like a long time,” said Anika Drichel, a native of the college town of 85,000. “It’s so exciting.”

Some became believers when Cignetti won a school-record 11 games in 2024, with the only losses coming at eventual national champion Ohio State and eventual runner-up Notre Dame. Others hopped on board as Cignetti’s team beat then-No. 3 Oregon on the road in October or after the Hoosiers captured their first outright Big Ten title since 1945 by beating the Buckeyes. Others held out until the clock ran out on Monday night.

Those who didn’t get their chance to celebrate Tuesday will have other opportunities. Mendoza is scheduled to do an autograph session at a sporting goods store on Wednesday morning. The trophy will be on display at a grocery store on Wednesday and a Wal-Mart on Thursday.

The party will continue Saturday, with the school announcing a championship celebration at Memorial Stadium where fans can cheer on the CFP-winning Hoosiers at the end of a truly historic season.

“When it started getting really good I was like, ‘Well, you know maybe I should [get on board], this is really great,'” Mullins said. “And Fernando is such a great kid, I mean all of them. They’re all such good guys, it’s almost like, how can you not support these guys?”

'Our refineries are robust!': India can process Venezuelean crude oil when available; here's what IOCL chairman said - The Times of India

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) said that the country’s refineries are capable of processing Venezuelan crude if supplies resume. “If at all things start settling down, if at all a lot of crude starts coming out of Venezuela, then can’t we import oil from Venezuela?” he said. The executive further added that the company, used to process Venezuelean crude a decade back and can do so again. “Venezuelan crude earlier when it was available, like 10 years back or eight years back when it used to be there in the market,” Sahney said at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

Venezuelan Oil For India? US Offer Comes With Conditions As Pressure Grows Over Russian Crude

Speaking about the capabilities of the refineries, the chairman highlighted that they are strong and can process the supplies. “So our refineries are varied, our refineries are robust. They can process in an admixed manner, but we can process Venezuelan crude if and when it is made available.”The remarks follow the US’s capture of outsted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in a military operation and an agreement to send 50 million barrels of oil, worth $5.2 billion, to the interim Venezuelan government.Sahney also highlighted India’s favourable economic and energy landscape. “India is growing at a phenomenal rate, and everybody is interested in talking about doing business with India,” he said.Commenting on global crude prices, he noted, “Crude has been trading in the range of $60-65 per barrel over the past several months. For the better part of the last six months, they were at $60 or below. This is a good zone where economic growth is also happening and sellers of crude are comfortable.”Pointing out India’s reliance on imports, he said, “India remains heavily dependent on imports to meet its energy needs, with IOCL importing about 85-87% of its crude oil requirements. The current price band is supportive for economic stability.”Sahney explained that refining margins depend on more than crude prices. “Refining margin is a very broad term. It is finally affected by the cracks in the international market. Today, cracks are working fine. They have returned to normalcy but are still in a healthy zone,” he said.He added that government policy has also supported the sector. “There is no problem on the policy side. Whatever support is required has already been given. It is up to us to improve profitability by increasing efficiency, reducing costs and optimising the supply chain,” Sahney said.Moving forward, Indian Oil plans to continue investing across the energy value chain, including downstream petrochemicals and cleaner energy solutions. The WEF’s 56th Annual Meeting runs from January 19 to 23, 2026, in Davos-Klosters, with around 3,000 participants from over 130 countries, including world leaders, CEOs, innovators and policymakers, under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue.”

A$AP Rocky gives his take on children’s budding personalities

A$AP Rocky has revealed the distinct personalities of his and Rihanna’s children.

During an appearance on the latest episode of The New York Times Popcast, the 37-year-old rapper talked about the differences he’s beginning to see between his kids.

“You know, my first son, RZA, he’s just really like, he’s [the] opposite of his brother, the 3-year-old and the 2-year-old. They’re about 14 months apart. So, they’re really close, but he’s really antisocial,” said Rocky.

For those unversed, Rocky shares three kids with Rihanna – sons RZA, 3½, and Riot, 2, and daughter Rocki, whom the two welcomed in September 2025.

“And my second son is just a socialite at this point, you know? He wants to steal the room when he comes, and he walks in it, and he’s addicted to cotton candy, and… he likes… typical little kid stuff,” the Helicopter rapper said of Riot.

Rocky added that his “first son never ate candy a day in his life and hates it.”

Talking about his baby girl, the Praise the Lord crooner said, “Baby Rocki man, she’s something, you know she’s 4 months. She’s 4 months on the 13th.”

“And she looks exactly identical to me. My twin, bro,” Rocky said proudly.

Marriyum Aurangzeb’s mother reveals the secret behind her shocking beauty transformation, and it’s not plastic surgery | - The Times of India

A senior minister from India’s neighbouring country sparked online speculation about cosmetic surgery after her appearance at a wedding. Her mother has now clarified that the noticeable change is solely due to significant weight loss achieved through a disciplined diet and strict routine over several months, not any medical procedures.

The internet had a lot to say after a senior minister from India’s neighbouring country stepped out at Junaid Safdar’s wedding in Lahore. Her appearance quickly became a talking point, with social media users zooming in on her sharper features and slimmer frame, and wondering if cosmetic work was behind the sudden change.

As photos from the grand wedding celebrations in the neighbouring country began doing the rounds online, the speculation picked up speed. Side-by-side pictures from her past public appearances were shared widely, and debates followed about what exactly had changed. Some users pointed to her jawline, others to her overall weight, while a few simply marvelled at how different she looked in such a short span of time. As always, the comment sections were busy, curious, and sometimes a little too quick to jump to conclusions. Now, her mother Tahira Aurangzeb has stepped in to clear the air.Shutting down the surgery rumours, she said the transformation had nothing to do with cosmetic procedures. According to her, it’s simply the result of weight loss and a very disciplined diet. “She’s been on a strict routine for months,” Tahira explained. “Mostly tea and coffee, very little food. She’s just lost weight, and that’s why her face looks different.” She added that even small changes in eating habits can make a big difference to how someone looks. “If I stop eating properly, my face will change too,” she said, pointing out that her daughter’s slimmer face is a natural outcome of shedding kilos, not medical intervention. Weight loss, she stressed, often alters facial structure more than people realise, especially when it happens quickly.Marriyum Aurangzeb, 45, is a well-known political figure in the neighbouring country and has been associated with the PML-N since 2013. She currently serves as a senior minister in Punjab, handling key portfolios including environment, planning, forestry, wildlife and special initiatives. Reports also say she has been given charge of tourism, archaeology and museums – departments that keep her firmly in the public eye.For now, at least, her family insists the makeover story is far less dramatic than the internet wants it to be – just diet, discipline, and a noticeable weight drop. And perhaps a reminder that public figures, like everyone else, change over time – sometimes simply because they decided to eat less and take better care of themselves.
