Indiana football claimed the school’s first-ever national championship earlier this week. The Hoosiers’ stunning rise has sparked questions about which program could be next.

Urban Meyer, who coached Florida and Ohio State to national championships, made his pick. The college football studio analyst believes Rutgers could be the next program to take the sport by storm, saying the Scarlet Knights are in prime position to become the “next Indiana.”

“Give me three programs that could be the next Indiana, meaning teams that are used to losing, have really bad records and can somehow rise from the ashes to become national champion,” Meyer said on “3 and Out,” a  podcast Meyer co-hosts alongside Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram II and Rob Stone.

The Hoosiers’ rise from college football’s most loss-laden program to dominance started last season, when Curt Cignetti arrived in Bloomington and coached Indiana to its first playoff appearance.

Indiana was defeated in the first round by last year’s eventual national champion runner-up Notre Dame. But the latest edition of the playoffs was a much different story. Indiana dominated Alabama in the Rose Bowl before soundly defeating Oregon in the semifinals.

The Hoosiers then outlasted Miami in this past Monday’s title game to secure a 16-0 record and claim the national championship trophy.

Meyer worked with Rutgers coach Greg Schiano at Ohio State, with the current Rutgers head coach serving as the Buckeyes’ defensive coordinator for three seasons. In addition to the Scarlet Knights, Meyer also named Rice and Wake Forest as programs that could go from among the worst teams to the best.

INDIANA’S CFP NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP: A HISTORIC RUN BY THE NUMBERS

“I have no idea about Rice, no idea about Wake, but I’m going to throw them out there because if Indiana can, they can,” Meyer added. “But I will say Rutgers because Greg Schiano — who I’m biased; he’s a great friend and a great football coach — he had him in the top five in the country at one point in (2006).”

Rutgers ended its most recent season with a 5-7 record. The school’s 708 defeats currently rank third on college football’s all-time list. Despite recent success, Indiana still leads college football’s all-time losses list. Rutgers is scheduled to play Indiana in 2026.

Ken Doll issues apology after backlash over Maryam Nawaz fashion comment | The Express Tribune

Influencer deleted his posts and addressed criticism following a video shared amid wedding-related social media buzz

Influencer Adnan Zafar, better known as Ken Doll, has issued a public apology following backlash over a video he shared earlier this week praising Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s fashion sense. The influencer, who has over 3.5 million followers on Instagram, deleted all previous videos from his account before posting a formal apology addressing the controversy.

In the video, Ken acknowledged that his remarks had sparked mixed reactions and admitted that his response to the criticism was misplaced. “I have learned one thing in life: everything has two sides, positive and negative. Every opinion also has two sides. I realized that my opinion ignited backlash,” he said, adding that while some people appreciated his comment, others were hurt by it.

Reflecting on his reaction to the criticism, he said it “wasn’t the right one” and expressed regret over the way his words were received. Stressing transparency, Ken noted that the messages and comments he received were visible to everyone. “I don’t want to hide anything. I just want to make sure I come forward and apologize for my words that have hurt or offended people. I am truly sorry for my behavior,” he said, asking for forgiveness “as a younger brother or friend.”

The apology follows widespread criticism of a video Ken had posted amid the ongoing social media buzz around the wedding of Maryam Nawaz’s son, Junaid Safdar, to Shanzeh Ali Rohail — one of the most talked-about events of the season.

As with most high-profile weddings, online conversations quickly shifted to fashion. While the bride made headlines for wearing Indian designers Sabyasachi and Tarun Tahiliani, much of the attention focused on Maryam Nawaz and Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb drew praise for her transformation, while Maryam Nawaz’s outfits — a yellow Nomi Ansari ensemble for the mehndi and a green Iqbal Hussain look paired with a Valentino bag for the reception — received mixed reactions online.

It was against this backdrop that Ken shared his now-controversial video in collaboration with the official PML-N Instagram page, captioned, “What a Shadi ♥️ MashAllah.” In the clip, he remarked, “Of course the region that has a Chief Minister whose fashion sense is so ‘on spot’ is the one region that is prospering the most.”

The statement left many social media users confused, with critics questioning the comparison and calling the comment tone-deaf. The backlash soon escalated into a wider debate online, ultimately prompting Ken to delete his content and issue a public apology.

Kate Beckinsale calls out tabloid press over focus on celebrity children

Kate Beckinsale, a well-known actress and mom of two, is speaking out against tabloid media. Her reasoning is simple: the press’s obsession with celebrity children is dangerous.

In a video on Instagram, the Underworld star says the media’s hyper-focus on what is commonly attributed to children of famous parents, i.e., nepo babies, is “disgusting” and claims they are punished for simply being born in a well-known family.

“There are a lot of famous people whose parents were also in the industry, whether it’s Ben Stiller — all sorts of people — and we all got away with it.”

“But, now, it’s the biggest crime you could have ever committed to be born to a famous person.”

In her view, the societies in the U.S. and the UK have failed to protect children. “And if you’re stupid and brainwashed and idiotic, you’re going to think that this is a champagne problem and crying on a yacht.”

She continues, “But really what this says is how much we have failed our children in pretty much all of our countries, but most particularly America and the U.K., where we have the resources to do so much better.”

Beckinsale’s fiery speech vented her frustration as a parent of a single child. She shares a daughter, Lily Mo Sheen, with former partner Michael Sheen, whom she dated from 1995 to 2003.

Microsoft investigating outage affecting Microsoft 365, Outlook and other services

Thousands of Microsoft customers reported difficulty Thursday accessing the technology company’s suite of Microsoft 365 services, including email platform Outlook, Teams and other tools.

Users started reporting problems accessing Microsoft applications on Thursday afternoon, according to Downdetector, a site tracking website outages. Complaints spiked at around 3 p.m. ET, when 16,000 people said they were having trouble accessing Microsoft 365.

Microsoft acknowledged the problem, stating on its website that “users may be seeing degraded service functionality or be unable to access multiple Microsoft 365 services.”

At 4:14 p.m. ET, Microsoft posted on X that it had “restored the affected infrastructure to a healthy state.” In a later post, however, the company said it was still “rebalancing traffic across all affected infrastructure to ensure the environment enters into a balanced state.”

In a statement Thursday night, a Microsoft spokesperson told CBS News: “We are working to address a service functionality issue. A subset of customers may be intermittently impacted. For more information, please see updates via Microsoft 365 Status on X.”

As of late Thursday afternoon, some social media users were still complaining that they were unable to access Microsoft 365 tools. “We cannot even email. This is not fixed,” one person said on X.

Other users called on Microsoft to compensate customers for the outage, which they blamed for hampering their work.

Verizon last week offered affected customers a $20 credit after a major service outage limited subscribers’ ability to use their wireless devices.

In 2024, a botched update of CrowdStrike antivirus software caused global outages for Microsoft 365 users. The disruptions led to thousands of flight delays and cancellations, while hospitals, banks and other businesses around the world were also affected.

Budget 2026: Bridging urban-rural divides; how budget can scale gold loans for Tier-2 & Tier-3 economies - The Times of India

While gold carries immense emotional and cultural significance, in its idle form it contributes little to economic activity. (AI image)

By Shaji VargheseIndia stands at a pivotal juncture where inclusive growth must extend beyond metros to Tier-2, Tier-3, and rural economies. One powerful yet underutilised lever in this journey is household gold. In recent years, the value of household gold has more than doubled, significantly increasing family wealth across India. According to a 2025 Morgan Stanley estimate, Indian households hold nearly 34,600 tonnes of gold jewellery, valued at around $3.8 trillion—almost 89 percent of the country’s GDP. Much of this gold has been accumulated over generations or acquired to mark important life milestones. While gold carries immense emotional and cultural significance, in its idle form it contributes little to economic activity. It is therefore imperative that India deploys effective policies to enable household gold to be used productively—without forcing families to relinquish ownership.Gold loans offer precisely this solution. They allow households to unlock the economic value of gold while retaining emotional ownership, making gold a working asset that supports livelihoods, enterprise, and growth.Over the past few years, regulators have taken meaningful steps to introduce balanced regulations that protect customers while supporting sectoral development. These measures, coming into effect from April 1, 2026, create a stronger foundation. However, to unlock the full potential of gold loans for inclusive growth, further reforms are needed.Boosting Rural Credit Access Through Gold LoansCredit penetration in rural India remains low, particularly among shopkeepers and MSMEs—estimated at nearly six million nationwide. Many continue to lack access to formal finance, even as they need working capital to upgrade infrastructure, manage inventory, and expand offerings.Gold loans are ideally suited to meet these short-term needs. Interest is charged only for the period the loan is utilised, allowing borrowers to repay when cash flows improve and re-borrow as required. This flexible credit cycle supports business growth, encourages financial discipline, and mobilises household savings in a way that benefits both borrowers and the broader economy.Strengthening Last-Mile Credit Through NBFC Branch ExpansionA key reason for low credit penetration in Tier-2, Tier-3, and rural areas is limited physical branch presence. Over time, NBFCs have demonstrated a superior ability to reach underserved regions, tailor products to local needs, and operate efficiently through well-established models. For gold loans in particular, physical branches are essential and cannot be fully replaced by digital channels, unlike unsecured personal loans. Encouraging NBFCs to expand branch networks would significantly improve access and deepen market penetration.Currently, regulatory restrictions and prescriptive guidelines on branch expansion can slow network growth. Liberalising these norms—especially for collateral-backed products like gold loans—would accelerate outreach while maintaining prudential safeguards.Rationalising Risk Weights to Expand Gold Loan SupplyNBFCs play a critical role in last-mile credit delivery, particularly for small-ticket and entry-level loans in rural areas. However, all NBFC loans currently carry a uniform 100 percent risk weight, which raises the cost of lending and limits credit supply.Gold loans are regulated by loan-to-value (LTV) norms, similar to home loans, where risk weights vary based on LTV. Extending a similar risk-based framework to gold loans could unlock significant capital, enabling NBFCs to expand credit availability to deserving borrowers.A coordinated approach between the Government and regulators can help create a supportive policy framework that recognises the broader economic and nation-building potential of expanding gold loan credit.Reintegrating Temporarily Distressed BorrowersRecent stress in unsecured lending segments, including microfinance, has adversely affected credit scores for millions of households. Many of these borrowers experienced temporary or one-time defaults and are now excluded from formal credit.Targeted schemes are needed to help such borrowers re-enter the formal financial system. Ensuring that temporary distress does not lead to permanent exclusion will allow households to regain access to credit and participate productively in the economy.Reforming SARFAESI Norms to Expand Rural Housing CreditHousing is a powerful economic driver in rural India, with strong linkages to nearly 50 sectors. While banks offer rural housing loans, their reach in smaller ticket sizes—below ₹10–15 lakh—is limited. NBFCs, with their extensive branch networks, are better positioned to serve this segment. However, SARFAESI Act provisions restrict NBFCs’ ability to recover smaller-ticket secured loans, as enforcement is allowed only for outstanding amounts of ₹20 lakh and above. Harmonising SARFAESI applicability for NBFCs in line with banks and housing finance companies would significantly improve credit flow and accelerate rural housing growth.Bringing Gold Lending Into the Formal EconomyAn estimated 60 percent of gold lending remains unregulated. Formal gold loans, by contrast, operate under clear regulatory guidelines and supervision. Allowing greater flexibility in NBFC branch expansion would accelerate formalisation and extend regulated credit to underserved markets. With a strong regulatory framework already in place, wider branch access can help bring millions of borrowers into the formal financial system. The upcoming Budget presents a timely opportunity to build on existing reforms. With continued policy support and regulatory alignment, gold loans can unlock household wealth, deepen rural credit access, and drive inclusive growth across Tier-2, Tier-3, and rural India.(Shaji Varghese is CEO of Muthoot FinCorp)

Drake makes next legal move amid Kendrick Lamar diss track drama

Drake goes in appeal against court ruling on Not Like Us lawsuit

It appears Drake is not stepping back. Despite the court’s previous ruling against his lawsuit over the diss track Not Like Us.

He is yet again stepping up efforts to get what he says is his right: justice.

Universal Music Group, a music corporation, is surprisingly a parent company of both rap artists. But in Drizzy’s lawsuit, they are liable to pay him damages.

Why?

The One Dance hitmaker believes this is due to the firm’s promotion of K.Dot’s song, which had lyrics calling him a paedophile.

“Notwithstanding a relationship spanning more than a decade, UMG intentionally sought to turn Drake into a pariah, a target for harassment, or worse,” the filing reads.

This had, in turn, dented his reputation and put his security at risk, claims Drake. But the U.S. District Court Judge Jeannette A. Vargas, as mentioned above, dismissed the case, stating the lyrics were Lamar’s opinion, not fact.

Thus, laws of defamation cannot be applied here, ruled the judge. Undeterred by this ruling, Drake’s legal team filed an appeal, arguing that the decision may create a dangerous legal precedent.

“The court effectively created an unprecedented and overbroad categorical rule that statements in rap diss tracks can never constitute statements of fact,” the court document reads.

UMG has more than two months to respond to the appeal; a precise date is March 27.

The French navy intercepted a Russian oil tanker in the Mediterranean suspected of operating as part of Moscow’s shadow fleet, a network of falsely-flagged vessels used to export oil and avoid Western sanctions, according to reports.

President Emmanuel Macron said Thursday that French forces had boarded and searched the tanker, which is subject to international sanctions.

The ship was reportedly sailing from Murmansk, in northern Russia, under a Comoros flag.

Writing on X, Macron said the operation took place on the high seas in the Mediterranean with the support of several allied countries.

The French president added that the vessel had been diverted for further checks.

The tanker, identified as the Grinch, was intercepted between the southern coast of Spain and the northern coast of Morocco in the western Mediterranean, French maritime police said.

The Associated Press reported the interception.

France and the U.K., gathered and shared intelligence on the vessel, according to French military officials who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

The interception is the latest in a growing number of Russian-linked vessels stopped by U.S. and European authorities in recent months as Western powers intensify efforts to disrupt Russia’s oil exports.

As previously reported by Fox News Digital, in early January U.S. forces seized another sanctioned tanker in the Atlantic Ocean.

U.S. European Command (EUCOM) announced the seizure of the Russian-flagged Marinera oil tanker in the North Atlantic Sea.

Meanwhile, France’s Mediterranean Maritime Prefecture said the team that boarded The Grinch on Thursday had inspected the vessel and decided documents raised doubts about the regularity of the vessel’s flag.

The tanker is being escorted by the French navy to an anchorage for additional verification.

The European Union has imposed 19 rounds of sanctions on Russia since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Despite those measures, Russia has continued to export millions of barrels of oil mainly to China and India and often at discounted prices.

What has become known as a “shadow fleet” consists of hundreds of old and poorly regulated tankers that change names, ownership structures and flags to avoid detection and sanctions.

Maritime data firm Lloyd’s List Intelligence estimates the global shadow fleet at about 1,400 tankers, many of which are subject to U.S., British or European sanctions, Reuters reported.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized European countries for not doing more to stop the transport of Russian oil using sanctioned vessels and which he says helps fund the war in Ukraine.

“Why can [U.S. President Donald Trump] stop tankers of the ‘shadow fleet’ and seize their oil, while Europe can’t?” Zelensky said at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Thursday.

“Russian oil is transported right along the European coast. This oil funds the war against Ukraine. This oil helps destabilize Europe,” Zelenskyy added.

Travis Scott explains why his kids are off-limits from AI

Travis Scott is sharing a rare parenting insight into why he wants to keep his kids, Stormi and Aire, to keep a distance from Artificial Intelligence while they are still young.

The rapper recently sat down with Rolling Stone and talked about his fatherhood journey as well as how much he has changed since becoming a dad.

It is pertinent to mention that Travis shares daughter Stormi and son Aire with ex-girlfriend Kylie Jenner.

While sharing about how his son was fascinated by tech during a recent visit to an amusement park, the dad-of-two revealed he draws a line when it comes to AI.

“My son’s 3 now, about to be 4” he told the outlet. “I took him to the Disney Imagineering spot, and his mind was just going off when he seen the robots and all the new tech and how it’s built.”

“My kids don’t have AI,” Travis shared.

As Travis wants Stormi and Aire to first learn about the basics before exposing them to AI and believes it could limit his kids’ learning ability.

“Having AI right now will compress their ability for their brain to maximize,” he claimed.

The dotting father further shared his approach, “So they got to learn the physical and the actual way of learning so then they know how to actually use AI to their best ability, because if it’s doing everything for you, how do you even know what’s right or wrong?”

An Arizona OnlyFans star with alleged ties to a Mexican cartel was abducted at gunpoint by multiple armed men in Mexico Tuesday, according to footage that captured the incident.

The reported kidnapping of 20-year-old Mexican-American Nicole Pardo Molina, known for driving a distinctive lilac Cybertruck, was captured by her vehicle’s cameras.

According to Spanish outlet El Pais, the incident took place outside a shopping center in Culiacán, Sinaloa, where she was selling merchandise bearing the image of cartel leader Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. The area where she lived and where her father is from is reportedly controlled by a rival faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, suggesting the kidnapping is possibly linked to cartel rivalry.

In the footage, Molina, who has more than 180,000 Instagram followers, was approached by a white Toyota Corolla and multiple attackers, who reportedly used tire spikes to bring her vehicle to a halt before pulling up alongside her, El Pais reported.

“According to initial investigations, three armed men in a stolen white vehicle threw tire spikes at the SUV the victim was traveling in, intercepted it, and then forced the victim into the car,” authorities said, according to El País.

Chaos erupted as she struggled, desperately trying to slam the Toyota’s rear passenger door shut and scramble back into her own car, according to the footage.

The men appeared to eventually overpower her and force her into the back of the car, while a third man in the driver’s seat sped away.

While there were no confirmed criminal links prior to the kidnapping, authorities and media reports suggest the incident may be tied to cartel rivalries.

In 2025, hundreds of women were kidnapped or disappeared in Sinaloa alone, according to official figures. A growing number of influencers have also been threatened or killed for promoting or alluding to specific cartel factions. In May 2025, for instance, influencer Valeria Marquez was murdered during a TikTok livestream.
