The US Justice Department on Friday published a new cache of files related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the Trump administration’s latest effort to comply with a law passed in November that required the department to release all Epstein-related records by December 19, 2025.

Reuters is in the process of reviewing the files.

The department had said at year’s end that it still had more than five million pages to review and needed to re-assign hundreds of lawyers to do so, drawing criticism from some members of Congress that the administration’s slow pace had violated the law.

President Donald Trump, who was friends with Epstein in the 1990s and early 2000s before they had a falling out years before Epstein’s first conviction, had spent months resisting any release until both Democrats and Republicans in Congress advanced the law over his objections.

The law permitted some redactions, including to protect victims and preserve ongoing investigations. But the files released thus far have been heavily redacted, in some cases entirely so, frustrating lawmakers.

Trump has not been formally accused of any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein, and he has denied any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes.

Epstein, a New York financier, was found hanged in his jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. While his death was ruled a suicide, it has engendered years of conspiracy theories, some of which Trump himself boosted to his own supporters during his 2024 presidential campaign.

The Epstein scandal has become a persistent political problem for Trump, who is already facing sagging approval ratings on a range of issues, including his handling of the economy and his immigration crackdown.

Friday’s U.S. Department of Justice release of more than 3 million documents related to the investigation of human trafficker and child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein included email exchanges between Epstein and New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch.

The Giants have provided a statement from Tisch addressing the emails.

“We had a brief association where we  exchanged emails about adult women, and in addition, we discussed movies, philanthropy and investments. I did not take him up on any of his invitations and never went to his island. As we all know now, he was a terrible person and someone I deeply regret associating with,” Tisch said.

The emails were first reported by The Athletic.

Some of the exchanges between Tisch and Epstein appear to show conversations about women.

Tisch’s family owns about 45% of the Giants. He assumed control of the team in 2005 after his father had purchased a majority stake in the team in 1991.

Epstein was found dead in a Manhattan federal jail cell Aug. 10, 2019. It was later ruled a suicide. He faced up to 45 years in prison for crimes related to the sex trafficking of minors.

Curiosity Corner: Where is the waterfall that makes its own mist located? | - The Times of India

Yosemite Falls, fondly referred to as the ‘Veil of Mist,’ enchants onlookers with its delicate spray that conjures fleeting rainbows in the air. Nestled in the breathtaking Sierra Nevada mountains of California, this majestic waterfall plunges an impressive 739 meters.

Some waterfalls roar. Some sing. One wears a soft white cloud. Yosemite Falls is often called the Fall of Mist because of the fine spray it throws into the air. When sunlight touches that spray, tiny rainbows appear. It feels like the waterfall is playing with light and air.

Which waterfall is called the Fall of Mist?

The name points to Yosemite Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls on Earth. In spring, melting snow rushes down the cliffs. The water crashes so hard that it turns into mist before touching the ground. That mist drifts like fog and cools the air around it.

Where is Yosemite Falls located?

Yosemite Falls lives inside Yosemite National Park in California, USA. The park sits in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Granite rocks, giant trees, and open skies surround the waterfall. Nature feels wide and calm here.

Why does it make so much mist?

The waterfall drops from a great height, about 739 metres (2,425 feet) in total.Water falls in three parts: Upper, Middle, and Lower Yosemite Falls. The long fall breaks water into millions of tiny drops. Those drops float as mist, especially when the flow is strong.

When does the mist appear the most?

Spring is the star season. Snow melts high in the mountains from April to June. The water rushes fast and loud. Summer slows it down. By late summer, the mist becomes light or may disappear for a while.

A small detail kids love

Stand near the lower fall on a sunny spring day. The mist can paint quick rainbows that come and go. They feel like secret smiles from the waterfall. Many visitors remember that moment long after leaving the park.

Why this name matters

“Fall of Mist” is not just a nickname. It helps notice how nature changes with seasons. The same waterfall can look wild, gentle, loud, or quiet. That lesson stays with curious minds.Disclaimer: This article is written for learning and curiosity. Natural features change with weather and seasons, so the waterfall’s look and flow may vary throughout the year.

Ravens to hire Bears’ Declan Doyle to be OC, sources say

Ravens to hire Bears' Declan Doyle to be OC, sources say

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — On Friday, the Baltimore Ravens hired their new offensive coordinator in Declan Doyle, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Doyle, who at 29 happens to be the same age as star quarterback Lamar Jackson, becomes the youngest offensive playcaller in the NFL. Doyle was an offensive coordinator for one season with the Chicago Bears last year, but head coach Ben Johnson called the plays.

This is a bold move by new Ravens coach Jesse Minter, who hired Doyle after interviewing him in Baltimore on Friday. Doyle has never been an offensive playcaller and has only seven years of NFL coaching experience.

But Doyle is considered one of the top young offensive minds in the league. Doyle helped transform the Bears from the NFL’s worst offense in 2024 to the No. 6 one last season. Chicago also averaged 26 points per game in 2025 (which ranked ninth in the league), which was major a improvement from the previous season when the Bears averaged 18.2 points per game (28th).

Before joining the Bears, Doyle was the Denver Broncos‘ tight ends coach from 2023 to 2024 and was the New Orleans Saints‘ offensive assistant from 2019 to 2022.

Doyle’s challenge will be to get Jackson and the Ravens’ offense back on track. Last season, Jackson averaged 196.1 yards passing and threw 21 touchdown passes, both of which were his fewest since 2022.

When asked Thursday what he wanted in an offensive coordinator, Minter said, “I’m looking for a connector and an innovator, and a scheme builder around the best player in the world.”

This marks the fourth offensive coordinator for Jackson, who is entering his ninth NFL season. But change has worked previously for Jackson, who has produced NFL MVP seasons after the past two times Baltimore hired new offensive coordinators.

Alcaraz vs. Djokovic: Who will win the Australian Open title?

Alcaraz vs. Djokovic: Who will win the Australian Open title?

No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz will play No. 4 Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open men’s final — with history on the line. Will Alcaraz win and become the youngest man to win all four major titles? Or will Djokovic defy the odds and pull off a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title?

Who will it be? Our experts break it down.

What can Alcaraz do to defeat Djokovic?

D’Arcy Maine: During Friday’s semifinal, Alcaraz battled through injury, cramping and even vomiting during the 5-hour, 27-minute encounter — not to mention some incredible play from Alexander Zverev — and still pulled off the victory. Asked afterward about how he won despite the circumstances, Alcaraz said he kept “believing, believing, all the time.”

And that gets to the heart of what makes Alcaraz so good. He knows he can win, no matter what, and fights until the last point. Clearly, the better tennis player at this stage, and with the physical edge, if Alcaraz keeps the same fighting spirit and unmistakable resolve he has shown, this should be his to win.

Jake Michaels: Alcaraz’s remodeled serve (off Djokovic’s, no less!) has been his secret weapon this tournament. If he continues to land his first serve at a higher rate, he will be tough to overcome, even for the greatest returner in tennis history.

Also, and it might seem incredibly backward because he’s 16 years younger than his opponent, but Alcaraz has to end the match quickly. After his epic, energy-sapping five-and-a-half-hour semifinal win over Zverev in the heat of the day, the longer this final lasts, the more the pendulum swings in Djokovic’s favor. It’s not just because the 24-time major champion is fresher, having spent four fewer hours on court to reach the final, but because he knows how to win when these legacy-defining Grand Slam matches go down to the wire.

Jarryd Barca: Obviously, it’s the case for both players, but Alcaraz doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel; he simply needs to be the best version of himself. The world No. 1 has shown no letdown all tournament, dismissing his first five opponents in straight sets, before enduring that wild, physically and mentally draining five-set semifinal with Zverev. He began cramping and barely moving during the concluding stages of the third set, but Alcaraz showed the kind of steely resolve we’ve long associated with Djokovic, overcoming a 3-5 deficit in the fifth set to win despite being far from his peak.

Tactically, variety will be the key. Alcaraz must disrupt Djokovic’s rhythm with changes of pace and direction, something Jannik Sinner didn’t do enough of in his semifinal loss. Alcaraz has to take away Djokovic’s comfort and make him work for every point. If Alcaraz can fatigue the 38-year-old’s legs early and often, his equally jaw-dropping athleticism and creativity should tilt the match in his favor.

What can Djokovic do to defeat Alcaraz?

Maine: Though recovery will obviously be key for both players entering Sunday’s final, it will be crucial for Djokovic. At 38 years old, Friday’s marathon semifinal likely will affect Djokovic more than the five-plus-hour battle the 22-year-old Alcaraz endured. To win the elusive 25th major title — it’s impressive he’s even in this position — he will need everything he has.

And if Djokovic can find more gas in the tank, he will have to utilize a similar strategy as he did during last year’s quarterfinal match. In that four-set victory against Alcaraz, Djokovic dropped the first set and, despite an obvious injury, then took control. He aggressively began dictating the points, and began ripping groundstrokes and firing one risky shot after another and relentlessly maintaining the pressure until it was over. But whatever tactics he uses, Djokovic will need his best level to pull off this victory.

Michaels: The Djokovic contrast in demeanor and level of play from quarterfinal to semifinal was stark. Against Lorenzo Musetti in the last eight, Djokovic looked subdued and almost disinterested as he lost the first two sets. But Friday evening, in that titanic battle against Sinner, Djokovic once again resembled the man who has the heart of a lion and the greatest tennis skills in history. For Djokovic to beat Alcaraz on Sunday evening, he can’t slip back into his demeanor from the quarterfinal — even for a second. He must continue to be the aggressor. He must be ruthless. He must get animated. And if he can achieve all of that, the crowd is sure to get behind him and will him to a 25th major title.

Barca: Similar to Alcaraz, it starts with recovery, but execution will decide everything, just as it did Friday night. His serve was extraordinary against Sinner, and it must be again, Djokovic is winning 86% of first-serve points in the second set and 77% in the fourth, using his precise placements to escape pressure and dictate play. It’s what allowed him to swing freely on his forehand throughout the match, playing with aggression rarely seen so late in his career, but needed to topple the top two players in the world.

Against Alcaraz, Djokovic must match that pace and intensity again. But he doesn’t need to outhit the Spaniard in every point. Djokovic must outlast him in the big moments, and find ways to replicate the 16 of 18 break points he saved against Sinner. That was the difference in the semifinal. Limiting Alcaraz’s chances by staying clutch, brave and protecting his serve will go a long way toward finding a way to win again.

Who will win?

Maine: Alcaraz is the favorite, but we’ve all seen what Djokovic can do — and the magic he has so often found throughout his storied career. Though fatigue could be a factor, Djokovic knows this might be his best (and perhaps last) chance to secure No. 25, and, as he did during the Olympic gold medal match against Alcaraz, he will give his all to achieve it. I can’t pick against that. Djokovic in four sets.

Michaels: For years, I’ve written that you cannot count out Djokovic at the Australian Open, regardless of the circumstances. He proved just how true that is yet again Friday evening in dethroning defending champion Sinner with one of his greatest performances of his illustrious career. At 38, he shouldn’t be in the final. He shouldn’t be able to go toe-to-toe with this next generation. And yet, he is. How can you pick against him? Djokovic will prevail in five enthralling sets.

Barca: Both men arrive in the final battered and bruised. Alcaraz battled cramps to survive the third-longest match in tournament history against Zverev, while veteran Djokovic produced one of the great performances of his career to dethrone two-time defending champion Sinner in over four hours despite his own visible physical struggles.

So, does this come down to recovery? Is it really who wakes up feeling fresher? Who avoids physical issues for longer? Djokovic’s history matters a lot here. He has never lost an Australian Open final, has already turned back the clock once this week and thrives when the stakes grow. Alcaraz might be the world No. 1, but Djokovic knows this stage better than anyone and might have a mental edge, leading the head-to-head 5-4. If Djokovic can produce anything close to his semifinal level again, it’s hard not to trust him. Djokovic in five.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged an arrest detainer Friday against a criminal illegal alien from Egypt accused of raping a 16-year-old girl on New Year’s Eve while she was asleep in her bed in Tennessee.

Mena Mohsen Farez Nmn Awad, 31, allegedly broke into an apartment in Nashville and began sexually assaulting the victim while she was asleep in her bed next to her nephew, WSMV-TV reported.

The girl allegedly found Awad in her bed with a handgun tucked into his waistband and was sexually assaulted, the outlet reported.

She later broke free, grabbed her nephew and told Awad she would not tell anyone about the incident if he left.

According to DHS, Awad has a history of violence since entering the U.S. in 2017 through the Diversity Visa program.

He was previously charged with domestic violence, intimidation, possession of a weapon, violation of a court order and vehicle theft, the agency said.

“Horrendous immigration policies allowed this monster into our country and made victims of children and families,” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. “This child rapist was allowed into our country by the Diversity Lottery program. Secretary Noem paused the diversity lottery to ensure no more Americans are harmed by this disastrous program.”

US dollar slips 9 paisa to close at Rs279.77, while in open market it declines 10 paisa to Rs280.82

KARACHI:

The Pakistani rupee remained firm against the US dollar last week, supported by improved investor sentiment, rising foreign inflows and a narrowing gap between interbank and open market rates.

Market confidence was bolstered by investment agreements worth $10 billion signed through the Pak-China e-Mining platform, alongside broad-based joint venture deals with China.

Pakistan’s return to global bond markets and expectations of up to $20 billion in fighter aircraft export agreements also supported the local currency.

The rupee drew further strength from rising workers’ remittances and inflows into Roshan Digital Accounts, which reached $11.70 billion.

Official foreign exchange reserves stood at $16.1 billion, while forecasts that reserves could exceed $40 billion by December added to positive sentiment.

Read: Further decline in gold and silver prices across markets

In addition, a continued crackdown against dollar smuggling helped limit demand in the open market. Over the week, the difference between interbank and open market dollar rates narrowed to Rs1.05.

In the interbank market, the US dollar slipped by 9 paisa to close at Rs279.77, while in the open market it declined by 10 paisa to Rs280.82.

The British pound strengthened during the session, rising by Rs7.99 in the interbank market to Rs385.47 and gaining Rs3.40 in the open market to settle at Rs388.56.

The euro also recorded gains, advancing by Rs5.69 in the interbank market to Rs333.99, while in the open market it rose by Rs2.77 to Rs336.84.

Among regional currencies, the Saudi riyal edged down by 4 paisa in the interbank market to Rs75.50, but gained 3 paisa in the open market to Rs75.40.

The UAE dirham slipped by 2 paisa in the interbank market to Rs76.17, while in the open market it increased by 4 paisa to Rs77.29.

Trump nominates government economist to lead Bureau of Labor Statistics after firing a prior commissioner

President Trump said Friday that he is nominating the government economist Brett Matsumoto to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics, after previously accusing the federal agency of releasing low monthly jobs numbers in order to make him look bad.

There is no evidence that the Bureau of Labor Statistics sought to undermine Mr. Trump with its data releases, but a string of revisions to prior reports this summer showed that the job market weakened after Mr. Trump returned to White House.

The president fired the agency’s previous Senate-confirmed commissioner, Erika McEntarfer, in August, claiming she had “faked the Jobs Numbers.” The agency has since been run on an interim basis by a career government economist.

McEntarfer was fired hours after the Bureau of Labor Statistics released a report that found just over 70,000 jobs were added in July, and 258,000 fewer jobs were created in May and June than previously estimated. While those downward revisions were large by historical standards, it’s not unusual for the bureau to revise its figures as it receives more survey responses.

Beyond the monthly jobs reports, the BLS also releases an array of economic reports, including the consumer price index that covers inflation.

The president maintained in a Friday night social media post that the BLS is a troubled agency that had been led by “WEAK and STUPID people.” But he said that Matsumoto would “Quickly fix” any issues with the agency.

Matsumoto has worked as a supervisory research economist at BLS and has been serving as a senior economist for the White House Council of Economic Advisers. He has a doctorate from the University of North Carolina.

“Brett Matsumoto is a Brilliant, Reputable, and Trusted Economist who will restore GREATNESS to the Bureau of Labor Statistics,” Mr. Trump said on Truth Social.

The president had initially picked E.J. Antoni, the chief economist at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, to lead the BLS. But the White House withdrew the nomination in September as Antoni faced sharp criticisms about his qualifications.
