Dove Cameron reflects on traumatic childhood loss she ‘rarely talks about’

Dove Cameron shared how a deep traumatic event from her childhood changed her life.

During a recent appearance on Call Her Daddy Podcast, the 30-year-old singer looked back at the murder of her childhood pal, Hayley, by her friend’s father at the age of 9 and shared how “impossible” it was to process the intense event at the time.

The Breakfast hitmaker revealed that she became friends with Hayley at the age of two as they both grew up in Bainbridge Island, Wash.

“Some little girls they meet each other, and they’re like, ‘Oh, that’s like you, and it’s funny,” Dove said of her friends, noting she “rarely talks about this.”

“Not because it’s a problem to talk about, but just like it’s so not the first thing that people usually ask me.”

Dove recalled her friend’s parents were going through a “messy” divorce.

“I had stayed with her dad for like quite a lot of the summer before [the murder] happened. And I think even at 8, it was like a dark energy. He was a very angry man,” Dove looked back.

The Boyfriend artist then continued to recall the day when she got the tragic news on a phone call, when she was homesick from school in the third grade.

Her parents received the call from her and her late friend’s preschool principal.

Dove recalled, “She basically said like, ‘This is going to be a really, really disturbing call. Hayley and [her sister] Kelsey are gone. Steve is gone, and he took the girls with him.'”

“I think they heard me like express some sort of child noise, like a gasp. And then I they came in and and we just like didn’t get out of bed for two days”

The news was “impossible to process” by the 56 Days star that her parents had to put her in therapy.

“I was very very very very very disturbed by knowing someone for all that time and being like raised around them and then realizing that they are capable of doing something so harrowing,” Dove articulated her thoughts, admitting, “I still have issues.”

Karim Benzema: Al Hilal are the ‘Real Madrid in Asia’

Karim Benzema said he wants to bring trophies to his new Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal, which he called the “Real Madrid in Asia.”

The French forward turned down a contract extension to remain at Al Ittihad beyond June and instead joined Saudi Pro League leaders Al Hilal on Monday.

Speaking for the first time since his move, the former Madrid captain and 2022 Ballon d’Or winner told the club’s website: “It’s good. I’m happy to be here. After my first training with the team, with the coach, I’m so happy and glad to be a part of this team.

“It’s a good team, with a good history. They have won a lot of trophies.

“It’s similar, like Real Madrid in Asia. Everything is good, the fans are good, they play well, they have good players, they have a good mentality.

“I liked this team from before. I used to play against them with Madrid and it was not an easy game. It was a good game so I have good memories. Today I’m happy because I’m a player of Al Hilal.”

According to sources, Benzema, 38, felt disrespected with the contract extension Al Ittihad had offered him.

The Al Ittihad deal from the Saudi Pro League, which handles the contracts of the main players in PIF(Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund)-owned clubs, would effectively have seen the veteran striker play for free, sources said.

Benzema, who had offers from European clubs, decided to stay in Saudi Arabia, partly because his image rights deal there is until 2030.

His move to Al Hilal, which PIF orchestrated, has reportedly angered Benzema’s former Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, who captains rivals Al Nassr.

According to sources, Ronaldo refused to play for his club on Monday in protest because PIF was not investing enough in Al Nassr and instead was giving an advantage to Al Hilal.

Ronaldo is looking to win his first major title with Al Nassr and his team are second in the Saudi Pro League standings, one point adrift of Al Hilal.

Benzema, who was instrumental in Al Ittihad winning the league crown and the King’s Cup last season, said he is hungry for more silverware.

“[It’s a] clear message,” he said. “You know my mentality. I have a lot of ambition. I will work, I will give everything on the pitch. I will help this team and, inshallah, win trophies. For me it’s more important to bring trophies. As I said before, we have a good team, good fans and together, inshallah, we will do it.”

Benzema arrived in Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2023 having won 25 trophies with Madrid, including four LaLiga, three Copa del Rey, and five Champions League titles.

He has eight goals in 14 league games this season.

His first game with Al Hilal will be Thursday’s league encounter at Al Okhdood.

Kim Kardashian shares dating advice amid Lewis Hamilton dating rumours

The rumoured couple reportedly sparked a romantic connection on New Year’s

Kim Kardashian is offering dating advice as rumours swirl about her budding romance with Lewis Hamilton.

The reality TV star was recently spotted alongside the Formula One champion during a weekend trip to Paris, sparking speculation about a new relationship. While in the French capital, Kardashian spoke with British Vogue at the launch of the new Nike x SKIMS pop-up, where she answered readers’ burning questions ranging from sisterly rivalry to modern dating.

“Yes, who cares if they’ve seen your Story? Like, what does it matter? Post and ghost. Who cares?” the 45-year-old replied.

Her comments come as reports suggest her own love life may be entering a new chapter. The Sun reported that Kardashian and Hamilton are now dating, claiming the SKIMS founder recently flew to the U.K. to spend a romantic weekend with the racing star in the Cotswolds.

According to the outlet, Kardashian travelled on her private jet and stayed at the luxury Estelle Manor, where the pair allegedly enjoyed exclusive access to a private spa and shared an intimate dinner at the country club.

A source also told HELLO! magazine that sparks may have flown earlier than fans realised. “Kim and Lewis got people talking at Kate Hudson’s New Year’s Eve party in Aspen last year,” the insider said, suggesting their connection has been quietly building for months.

Criminals using AI to clone voices and set up direct debits

Criminals using AI to clone voices and set up direct debits

Criminals are using AI to clone people’s voices and set up unauthorised direct debits over the phone, National Trading Standards (NTS) has warned.

NTS said “advanced” voice cloning was part of an organised criminal operation that appeared to be targeting older people.

Fraudsters began the process by asking victims to participate in a so-called “lifestyle survey” phone call, which was actually designed to gather personal, health and financial details.

The criminals then used this information to create AI-generated voice clones to simulate consent for direct debits.

The voice clones could then be used to set up payments with banks and other legitimate businesses and financial providers without the victim’s knowledge, NTS said.

Victims often did not realise payments were being taken, it warned.

Latest figures from NTS suggests that UK adults now receive an average of seven scam calls or texts per month, with about one in five (21%) receiving them most days and 9% receiving them every day.

NTS said it blocked almost 21 million scam phone calls and shut down 2,000 numbers in a six-month period.

Louise Baxter, head of the NTS scams team, said: “What we’re seeing is a deeply disturbing combination of old and new: traditional phone scams supported by disturbing new techniques.

“Criminals are using AI not just to deceive victims, but to trick legitimate systems into processing fraudulent payments.

“This is no longer just a nuisance – it’s a co-ordinated, sophisticated operation targeting some of the most situationally vulnerable consumers in society.

“We urge everyone to speak to friends and relatives about scam calls, check bank statements regularly and report anything suspicious.”

John Herriman, chief executive at the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI), said: “This alarming new twist in phone-based fraud shows just how quickly criminals are exploiting emerging technologies to prey on the public.

“Voice cloning takes scam calls to a sinister new level, making it even harder for legitimate businesses and consumers to distinguish real interactions from fraudulent ones.

“Trading Standards teams across the UK are working tirelessly to disrupt these operations but we need the public to stay alert, talk to loved ones about the risks and report anything suspicious.”

Which? consumer law spokeswoman Lisa Webb said: “You shouldn’t have to worry about your own voice being used against you in this way but sadly we’ve reached a stage where every phone call must be treated with suspicion. If you get any calls out of the blue, don’t be afraid to hang up, genuine callers won’t mind.

“If you see any direct debits or transactions on your bank account that you don’t recognise, contact your bank immediately using the number on the back of your card. You should also report any scams to Police Scotland or Report Fraud to investigate.

“It’s also worth making sure you’re registered with the telephone preference service to opt out of unsolicited marketing calls, that way you’ll know that any unexpected marketing or sales calls are either a rogue company or a scammer.”

Alan Ritchson promotes ‘War Machine’ set to debut on Netflix

Alan Ritchson, best known for starring in Reacher, is set to feature in another high-octane action thriller, War Machine.

Similar to his past roles, he plays a tough, bulky man and also a soldier. Along with him, Dennis Quaid, Jai Courtney, Esai Morales, Stephan James, Keiynan Lonsdale, and Daniel Webber star in the forthcoming Netflix movie.

The film’s logline read, “Follow the final recruits of a grueling special ops boot camp who encounter a deadly force from beyond this world.”

Ritchson offers a glimpse into what fans should expect from War Machine; he told Wired, “War Machine for Netflix [is coming soon.]”

“I think, and you heard it here first, [it’s] probably gonna be the b— no, not probably. [It’s] gonna be the biggest movie that Netflix has ever had. This movie is gonna be a monster. This is the coolest thing they’ve ever made, guaranteed.”

His co-star Courtney also adds, “I think that film is going to blow people away. It’s big. It’s a high concept. Alan [Ritchson]’s an absolute savage.”

The actor also raves about War Machine’s director, Patrick Hughes, “Pat [Patrick Hughes], I’ve been a fan of for a long time, and he’s become a good friend as well, and it was cool to go down there [to Victoria, Australia, where the film was shot].”

“What I really love about what he’s doing is he’s pulling these big, visionary action films into Australia and into the industry down there. I think it’s really healthy for the business down there, and it’s cool to see we have such world-class crews and locations.”

War Machine debuts on Netflix on March 6, 2026.

Chris Hemsworth discusses decision to reveal Alzheimer’s predisposition

Chris Hemsworth has opened up about why he chose to publicly share that he has a genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s disease, admitting he wrestled with whether being so open might change how people see him as an actor.

Speaking to The Guardian during the press tour for his upcoming film Crime 101, the Marvel star explained that the decision did not come easily, particularly given his long-standing image as an action hero.

“I wondered if I was letting people too far in,” Hemsworth said.

“Are they no longer going to believe in the action star or the Marvel character? And do I want people to know my fears and insecurities to this level?”

Chris Hemsworth-led ‘Crime 101’ drops new trailer ahead of premiere

Hemsworth first revealed the news in 2022 on an episode of his Disney+ series Limitless, where a doctor told him his genetic makeup includes two copies of the APOE4 gene.

Think of the APOE4 gene as a specific version of a “blueprint” for a protein that manages fats and cholesterol in your body.

We all inherit two copies of the APOE gene, one from each parent, but the “4” variant is essentially like having a slightly less efficient cleanup crew in your brain.

While its main job is moving fats around, it is also responsible for clearing out a sticky “gunk” called amyloid that can build up and lead to Alzheimer’s.

Having one or two copies of this version increases your statistical risk of developing the disease, but it is definitely not a guaranteed diagnosis.

Plenty of people carry the gene and stay sharp well into their 90s, especially when healthy lifestyle habits are in the mix, so it’s best viewed as a “heads-up” from your DNA rather than a final verdict.

At the time, he stressed that the gene was not a certainty, explaining that “it’s not like I’ve been handed my resignation” and that while it is a strong indicator, it is not pre-deterministic.

The subject has become even more personal for the actor in recent years.

His grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and last November Hemsworth revealed that his father is currently living with the disease.

That reality, he said, has changed how he looks at both life and work.

“My appetite for racing forward has really been reined in,” he told The Guardian.

“I’ve become more aware of the fragility of things. You start thinking, ‘My dad won’t be here for ever.’ And my kids are now 11 and 13. Those nights where they’d fight over sleeping in our bed, suddenly they’re not happening any more.”

As a result, Hemsworth said he is slowing down professionally and choosing projects for more personal reasons.

In the past, he admitted, financial considerations often played a bigger role. He recalled thinking, “I came from nothing. Who am I to turn down that kind of money?” and justifying decisions by focusing on how the work could help support his wider family.

That shift in priorities was reflected in his 2025 documentary A Road Trip to Remember, which focused on his father’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

Hemsworth described the film as deeply emotional, saying it “was so deeply personal. It was a love letter to my father. It empowered him for a period, and stimulated memories that were being taken away from him.”

Chris Paul, Clippers finally part ways in three-team trade involving Raptors and Nets

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Chris Paul, the 40-year-old future Hall of Fame point guard, is heading to the eighth NBA squad of his career after a three-team trade on Wednesday.

But it might be short-lived.

Paul is heading to the Toronto Raptors as part of a three-team deal involving his Los Angeles Clippers and the Brooklyn Nets.

The full trade is as follows, per ESPN:

  • Raptors: Chris Paul and Ochai Agbaji
  • Nets: 2032 Raptors second-round pick and cash considerations

The Raptors, however, will not require Paul to report to the team, and they could still move him elsewhere before the 3 p.m. NBA trade deadline on Thursday.

This was a deal that helped both sides clean things up on the books, especially the Clippers, after they surprisingly parted ways back in December.

CLIPPERS TRADE JAMES HARDEN TO THE CAVALIERS: REPORT

It was on Dec. 3 when Paul confirmed on his social media that the two sides did not see eye to eye, and ESPN reported Paul was not on speaking terms with head coach Ty Lue prior to leaving the team.

Paul later told People that he was “at peace” with his decision, and looked forward to whatever happens next. He played just 16 games with the Clippers this season, averaging only 2.9 points and 3.3 assists per game.

Now, Paul, who plans to retire at the end of this season, perhaps wants to join a contender looking to make a push toward the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Agbaji played in 42 games for the Raptors this season, averaging 4.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in his time off the bench. He also made 13 starts for Toronto.

Paul is a 12-time All-Star and a franchise legend for the Clippers, which is why this unceremonious end was hard to fathom for fans. He spent seven of his 21 years in Los Angeles, averaging 18.2 points, 9.6 assists and 2.1 steals per game over 409 contests.

But Paul’s stardom in the NBA began with the Hornets, first in Oklahoma City before the franchise relocated to New Orleans. He spent six seasons with the Hornets before moving to the Clippers.

After the Clippers, Paul found a home with the Houston Rockets for the 2017-18 season, spending two years there before jumping back to Oklahoma City, this time with their current franchise, the Thunder.
