When the two co-hosts asked Cuoco if she ever came close to dying, she responded “No,” prompting Shepard to speak about his own experience when he was a teenager in high school.
“No. Is it weird that I kinda wish I did? I want one,” Cuoco said. “Because I wanna see what these people are … what are they seeing?”
Shepard responded: “I don’t know what the definition is. But, I have had the moment, which is among the most unique feelings I’ve ever had in my life, where I went, ‘Oh, I’m about to die. I’m like seconds away from dying.’”
Dax Shepard recalled a car accident he was involved in as a teenager during an episode of the ‘Armchair Expert’ podcast, crediting the accident for why he can no longer sleep in a car unless he is the driver (Getty Images)
“I was in the back seat of a car. Like I had folded the seats down in the back of a Ford Probe, in like a hatchback, and my friend was driving. We were coming back from Toledo, back up to Detroit,” he said.
The comedian explained that he decided to sleep in the back seat of the car while his friend had the cruise control set to 85 mph. He was then jolted awake by the sound of gravel hitting the car as he saw his friend slumped over the wheel and was “going 85” off the road.
“I started to go … to grab the wheel, and there was a moment I just knew it was too far gone. Like we had gone completely sideways. I laid back down and then … we just launched in the ai,r and we started rolling right down the highway,” Shepard continued.
He recalled waiting to “hit a tree,” thinking he would die upon impact, describing the feeling as “comforting.”
“Then we just rolled like 10 times, ended up upside down. We did not hit a tree,” Shephard said. “The car was flat. We crawled out the windows … He was OK, and I was OK.”
Despite avoiding any major repercussions, the Hit and Run actor admitted he continued to question whether he was still alive for days following the accident.
“It was highly memorable. This may shock you, but I’ve never been able to fall asleep in a car ever since,” he concluded. “So I can never let the other person take a turn driving. There’s no way I could sleep with someone else driving.”

HENDERSON, Nev. — In the Las Vegas Raiders‘ search for their 25th head coach, they made a move that made sense. With running back Ashton Jeanty and tight end Brock Bowers in the building, and Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendozapotentially on the way, Las Vegas’ hire of an offensive-minded coach is all about maximizing the potential of its current and future young stars.
The Raiders landed Klint Kubiak, who just led the Seattle Seahawks to a Super Bowl LX win as offensive coordinator. The hiring of Kubiak, 38, which was made official Monday, was a move in the direction the franchise needed for its rebuilding efforts.
Yes, Kubiak will bring an offensive system that’s proven — Seattle ranked third in points (28.4 per game) and eighth in total yards (351.4) in 2025. But his arrival also means the Raiders secured their top choice in the coaching search, a far cry from last year when they settled for Pete Carroll after striking out on Ben Johnson.
Raiders general manager John Spytek led the coaching search in close collaboration with minority owner and former NFL quarterback Tom Brady. Ahead of the search that began in earnest Jan. 5 when the Raiders fired Carroll, Spytek said the team would be open-minded in its approach. However, it was clear that people with offensive backgrounds were emphasized. Of the 15 candidates who interviewed for the position, 10 coaches focused on offense, including Davis Webb, Mike McDaniel, Brian Daboll and Kubiak.
Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero was the team’s backup option after Webb withdrew his name.
Kubiak stood out in his virtual interview on Jan. 9, and he impressed the organization and Brady in person. Brady was the Fox color commentator for Seattle’s 41-6 win over the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round and its 31-27 victory against the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game.
The Raiders zeroed in on Kubiak the week before the Seahawks traveled to San Francisco for the Super Bowl. They officially met with him for a second time in Seattle on Jan. 31, along with the Arizona Cardinals. The wait might’ve seemed risky because of the head coaching vacancies across the league that were filling up, shrinking the team’s options.
But the Raiders’ patience was rewarded. They signed Kubiak to a five-year deal, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Now, Las Vegas still has significant strides to make before it can contend. The offense, however, should be in a much better spot after finishing last in points (14.1) and total yards (245.2).
Under Kubiak, the Seahawks’ offense was night and day from last season’s Ryan Grubb-led group that finished 18th in points (22.1) and 14th in total yards (332.2). The 2025 Seahawks’ points per game total (28.4) ranks second in franchise history behind the 2020 team, which averaged 28.7 points.
Kubiak, son of former Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak, hails from the Kyle Shanahan coaching tree and runs his version of the West Coast offense.
He’s heavy on player usage, such as 12 personnel (one running back, two wide receivers and two tight ends) and 21 personnel (two running backs, a tight end and two wide receivers). By doing so, the Seahawks forced opponents to stop the run, allowing them to create mismatches and explosive plays in the passing game.
The Raiders’ current wide receiver room doesn’t stand up to the Seahawks’. Seattle featured 2025 Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Rashid Shaheed and Cooper Kupp. However, Las Vegas’ Bowers — who recorded 64 catches for 680 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games — has a chance to thrive in Kubiak’s system.
The Raiders also have wide receiver Tre Tucker (57 catches, 696 yards and five touchdowns), who can stretch the field vertically. He has made strides in each of the three seasons he has been in the league and could take a bigger leap with Kubiak as the playcaller. Tucker was praised for getting open by winning his one-on-one matchups. Kubiak was good at scheming plays that created one-on-one matchups for his pass catchers.
The Seahawks were among the best teams in using 12 personnel. During the regular season, Seattle used 12 personnel on 27.4% of its offensive plays (11th in the league, per NFL Next Gen Stats). They were first in total yards per play (7.5), first in passing yards per play (10.5), third in offensive EPA (47.01) and third in rushing yards (5.3).
Kubiak’s outside zone run scheme was effective, as Seattle was tied for 10th in rushing yards (123.3) after it ranked 28th (95.7) in 2024. He did a solid job at using running backs Kenneth Walker III (221 carries, 1,027 yards and five touchdowns) and Zach Charbonnet (184 carries, 730 yards and 12 touchdowns).
Walker was named the Super Bowl MVP after he rushed for 135 yards on 27 carries against the Patriots.
The Raiders wanted to run a two-running-back system under former offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, but that plan ultimately failed. Las Vegas finished last in rushing yards (77.5) per game. Jeanty ran the ball 266 times for 975 yards and five scores. And the player with the second-most carries was quarterback Geno Smith with 41.
Jeanty, who averaged 3.7 yards per carry, should have consistent production with Kubiak’s scheme. But for him and the rest of the offense to have some form of success in Year 1, a handful of changes must be made through free agency or the draft. The Raiders are expected to invest heavily in the offensive line after the unit was the team’s biggest weakness in 2025.
Las Vegas already has the left tackle spot solidified with Kolton Miller. It will be up to the new coaching staff for whether Jackson Powers-Johnson plays right guard or center. Still, adding two interior linemen and a right tackle would be wise.
They will also need to add a top wide receiver who can take the attention away from Bowers. The Indianapolis Colts‘ Alec Pierce and the Seahawks’ Rashid Shaheed are two wide receivers the Raiders could target in free agency. Shaheed has familiarity with Kubiak’s system and can provide additional value as a returner.
On top of that, the Raiders need to acquire another running back to complement Jeanty and allow Kubiak to replicate what he did with Walker and Charbonnet.
In the likelihood that Mendoza is selected with the No. 1 pick in April’s draft, he and Kubiak should form a solid pairing. Kubiak has seen solid quarterback play up close. Seattle’s QB Sam Darnold earned his second Pro Bowl selection after recording 4,048 passing yards (fifth in the league), 25 touchdowns (tied for ninth), 14 interceptions (third) and 67.7% completion rate (seventh) in 2025.
When Kubiak was the offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints in 2024, QB Derek Carr recorded 2,145 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, five interceptions, 60.2 QBR and a 67.7% completion rate in 10 games. San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy had 4,280 yards, 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions when Kubiak was the passing game coordinator in 2023.
During Kubiak’s three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, two as a quarterbacks coach (2019-2020) and one as an offensive coordinator (2021), Kirk Cousins threw for 12,089 yards, 94 touchdowns and a completion rate of 67.6%. Cousins was a Pro Bowl selection in 2021 after throwing for 4,221 yards, 33 touchdowns and seven picks.
Mendoza — a Heisman Trophy winner and national champion — said on the Pat McAfee show that he was a “huge fan” of Kubiak and has watched a lot of the Seahawks’ film.
“Throughout this entire season, we actually had a little bit of a Kubiak-[Sean] McVay system, not for our RPO system but our play-action,” Mendoza said in San Francisco during Super Bowl week.
“The way [Kubiak] is able to incorporate outside zone and get the edge with the run game, where the running back can collect the edge, hit the hole or cut back and do play-action off of that, and the way he has developed Sam Darnold has been phenomenal.”
“Just being a football fan, I watched a lot of breakdowns of his films.”
NEW DELHI: At a time when India is working on its 2035 climate action targets, the govt’s think tank, Niti Aayog, on Monday released a roadmap to achieve the country’s ‘net zero’ emission goal by 2070, noting that the transition will need cumulative investment requirements of $22.7 trillion, around $500 billion annually, to finance several “high-level actions” to meet the twin objectives of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed India) and long-term carbon neutrality. It said at least $6 trillion out of the total investment requirement needs to come from external sources. The govt think tank also underlined that India’s coal consumption will continue to rise till 2047, giving enough hint of what India’s updated climate action – Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) – for 2035 would look like. The roadmap – Scenarios Towards ‘Viksit Bharat’ and Net Zero: An Overview – emphasised India’s vision of becoming a developed economy by 2047 and achieving ‘net zero’ emissions by 2070, saying it will require a “delicate balancing act”.“Many of the technologies needed for net zero have yet to reach commercial maturity, while mature low-carbon technologies often demand large up-front investments,” the report said, referring to challenges.Noting a scenario of transition to clean energy in India, the report flagged that the non-fossil fuel power generation (including captive) share is expected to increase from 23% in 2025 to 65% in the current policy scenario and 80% in the ‘net zero’ scenario by 2050. “It is further expected to rise above 80% by 2070 in the current policy scenario, and to 100% in the ‘net zero’ scenario, it said.“The ‘net zero’ strategy is simple – first, electrify energy use. Two, green and clean electricity. Three, control demand through Mission LiFE. Four, focus on circularity and efficiency. Last, cheaper external finance is needed. Clearly stated, India’s coal consumption will go up till 2047 even as energy intensity decreases and efficiency goes up, while meeting ‘net zero’ goals. India can leapfrog to be a global leader in clean technologies. 85% of India of 2047 is yet to be built and can be built to be climate-friendly,” said B.V.R Subrahmanyam, CEO, NITI Aayog, on the occasion of the release of the report. Besides focus on clean energy, the roadmap’s high-level actions for India’s ‘net zero’ transition include focus on circularity, urban mobility, efficient buildings, proper land use, critical minerals, and robust data for monitoring, reporting & verification (MRV) systems as core infrastructure. On financing the transition, it noted that the power sector alone accounts for over half of total needs ($22.7 trillion), reflecting its central role in enabling economy-wide electrification and the expansion of low-carbon generation.“On an annualised basis, this cumulative requirement translates into average flows of approximately $500 billion per year, compared with actual annual investment of around $135 billion in 2024, of which only $70–80 billion currently supports clean energy,” the report said.Of this total, approximately $8 trillion must be front-loaded by 2050, including nearly $5 trillion in the power sector, given the capital-intensive nature of most low-carbon technologies, it added. The think tank noted that the financing gap of $6.5 trillion remains, as an estimated aggregate flow of only $16.2 trillion is expected against the ‘net zero’ scenario investment requirement of $22.7 trillion, and suggested having a “National Green Finance Institution” in the country to take care of the needs. It, at the same time, expressed confidence in India’s approach, saying India’s ‘net zero’ transition will create a new ‘Indian Development Model’ combining economic vitality, technological leadership, and sustainability. “The pathways India shows will be a lighthouse for the developing world. The Indian Development Model will set the trend for others,” said the think tank.“NITI Aayog has undertaken a comprehensive and rigorous exercise that will serve as a benchmark – a starting point for future discussions on ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘net zero’. The reports are a great resource for policymakers and researchers on charting India’s course to these twin objectives,” said V Anantha Nageswaran, Chief Economic Advisor to the government. The report has come out with 11 reports that detail the findings of India’s first government-led, multi-sectoral, integrated study to assess development scenarios that deliver on the Viksit Bharat 2047 while simultaneously reducing net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to zero by 2070.The study entails a “scenario-based analytic modelling exercise” that integrates economic growth, India’s development priorities, and climate commitments. It has been prepared by 10 inter-ministerial working groups that examined long-term transition scenarios across key domains like macroeconomic aspects of the transition, sectoral low-carbon transition in power, transport, industry, buildings, and agriculture; financing for climate action; critical minerals; R&D and manufacturing; and the social implications of the transition.
Airports are usually built far from city centres, carefully designed to keep aircraft and everyday traffic well apart. Runways rarely intersect with roads, pedestrians, or neighbourhoods, and strict security ensures clear separation at all times. But in Gibraltar, that’s not the case. Here, the international airport’s active runway cuts directly across the main road into the city, forcing cars and pedestrians to stop every time a plane lands or takes off, turning a routine arrival into a remarkable travel experience. Many visitors to Gibraltar get their first surprise moments after landing, not while disembarking the aircraft, but minutes later, when they find themselves walking across the very runway they just arrived on.
Yes, in Gibraltar, crossing the international airport’s active runway is a perfectly normal part of entering the city. It’s one of the destination’s most unusual, and unforgettable, travel experiences.
Walking across an active runway
Gibraltar’s airport sits between the sea and the Rock, leaving little room for expansion. As a result, the runway cuts straight across Winston Churchill Avenue, the main road connecting Gibraltar to Spain. When a plane is about to land or take off, traffic lights turn red, barriers come down, and cars, cyclists, and pedestrians wait patiently as aircraft roll past—much like a railway crossing. For many travellers, the moment is surreal. One minute you’re collecting your bags; the next, you’re standing on a runway watching jets taxi just metres away. Unsurprisingly, the area near air traffic control has become a popular photo and video spot—but it remains a fully operational airfield. How to cross the runway safely
To manage the constant mix of aviation and road traffic, RAF Gibraltar has issued clear guidance for visitors crossing the runway:
Follow instructions given by police officers on duty—they’re used to helping visitors and know the city well
Stay within marked lanes at all times
Avoid lingering on the runway, even for photos, as aircraft movements can happen quickly
Secure loose items and close pockets; strong winds can blow objects onto the runway
Do not drop litter—foreign objects can cause serious aircraft engine damage
Keep children close and pets under control
If traffic lights turn red, stop at the barrier and wait
Definitely one of the best spot to film planes landing or taking off safely
An airport that literally stops traffic
At just 1.5 kilometres long, the runway at Gibraltar International Airport is one of the most distinctive in the world. Every aircraft movement temporarily halts all road traffic between Gibraltar and Spain, making it one of the very few airports globally where aviation and everyday city life intersect so directly.
A challenge even for experienced pilots
The airport is also known as one of Europe’s most challenging landing spots. Strong crosswinds and turbulence, caused by the nearby Rock of Gibraltar, mean that only specially trained and highly experienced pilots are authorised to operate flights here. For passengers and aviation enthusiasts alike, each landing is a spectacle.
Civilian and military operations
Adding to its uniqueness, the runway is jointly used by commercial airlines and the Royal Air Force. Military aircraft regularly operate here, underlining Gibraltar’s strategic location at the entrance to the Mediterranean. The mix of civilian travel and military aviation gives the airport a rare dual-purpose role. Views you don’t forget
Flights into Gibraltar offer dramatic scenery: the deep blue Mediterranean on one side, Spain on another, and the towering limestone Rock rising sharply beside the runway. Many travellers consider the approach alone reason enough to add Gibraltar to their travel list.
Did you know?
The airport was built on land that originally served as Gibraltar’s horse racing trackIt opened in 1942 as RAF North Front during World War IIFew cities blur the line between everyday life and aviation quite like Gibraltar—where crossing a runway isn’t a security breach, but just another part of the commute.

Complainant’s lawyer argued that court session was scheduled for 8:30am, but accused appeared at 9:30am
KARACHI:
An Additional District and Sessions Judge on Thursday approved a request to adjourn the hearing of lawyers representing YouTuber Rajab Butt in his ongoing case against him over the alleged insult of Islamic symbols.
Rajab Butt, released on interim bail, appeared before the court. The complainant’s lawyer argued that the court session was scheduled for 8:30am, but the accused appeared at 9:30am and requested the cancellation of bail. The lawyer further stated that the prosecution was prepared to present evidence, but the defence counsel failed to appear.
A junior lawyer for the accused explained that their counsel, Mian Ali Ashfaq, was on official leave. The judge remarked that defence lawyers had previously failed to appear and advised filing a formal request.
The court subsequently approved the adjournment of the defence lawyers’ hearing and extended Rajab Butt’s interim bail until March 30.
The case against Rajab Butt was registered at Hyderi Market Police Station, and the accused had previously secured interim bail from the court.
Earlier, He was assaulted by a group of lawyers at Karachi’s City Court.

His defence lawyers tried to intervene and stop the assault. Butt was later escorted out of the City Court.
A source close to the Guthrie family is pushing back on reports about how Nancy Guthrie was discovered missing on Sunday, Feb. 1, saying key details of the timeline have been reported incorrectly.
Early reporting indicated that Nancy Guthrie had been scheduled to attend an in-person church service in Tucson that morning and was reported missing after she failed to show up. According to the family source, that account is not accurate.
The source told Fox News that for years — dating back to the COVID pandemic — Nancy and a small group of close friends had a standing Sunday routine that did not involve attending church in person. Instead, the group would gather at one another’s homes to watch a New York–based church service via livestream.
The service was broadcast live from a New York church attended by Savannah Guthrie, the longtime “TODAY” show co-anchor and Nancy Guthrie’s daughter.

On Sunday, Feb. 1, Nancy was expected to be at a friend’s home to watch the livestream, as she had done every week. When she failed to arrive, members of the friend group became concerned.
According to the source, one of the friends contacted Annie — Nancy’s daughter and Savannah Guthrie’s sister — to report that Nancy had not shown up and could not be located.
The source emphasized that Nancy was never scheduled to attend a Tucson church service that day, contrary to some reports, and said the misunderstanding has led to confusion about the circumstances surrounding when she was first reported missing.

As the search intensified, Savannah Guthrie made an emotional public plea for help, describing the situation as an “hour of desperation” as authorities investigated an alleged ransom note tied to her mother’s disappearance.
Savannah urged anyone with information to come forward as investigators worked against a looming deadline outlined in the note, which authorities have not publicly authenticated.
The final deadline outlined in the alleged ransom note passed Monday night without any proof of life or resolution.

At the same time, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said it was pursuing what it described as “new leads” in the case, but confirmed investigators have not identified any suspects, persons of interest or vehicles connected to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
“The investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance remains active and ongoing,” a spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Monday evening.
“We understand the significant public interest in this case; however, investigators need time and space to do their work. If and when relevant information becomes available, it will be shared,” the spokesperson added.
The department said there are no press briefings scheduled at this time, but noted a press conference would be called if a significant development occurs.
Sheriff’s officials also confirmed an active law enforcement presence will continue at the Guthrie residences through the night and into Tuesday as part of the ongoing investigation, including expanded search efforts and follow-up on new leads.
“To preserve the integrity of this criminal investigation, details of that process are not being released at this time,” authorities said.
Officials emphasized the scale of the public response so far.
“Thousands of calls have been received across multiple tip lines, and investigators continue to review them,” the spokesperson said.
Anyone who believes they have information that may assist investigators is asked to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department non-emergency line at 520-351-4900, or 88-CRIME.

Margot Robbie shares worst gift actress ever received
Margot Robbie has opened up about what she describes as the worst gift she has ever received, recalling an early-career moment that left her shocked and offended.
The Australian actress and producer shared the story during a video interview with Charli xcx for Complex, where she was asked to name the most uncomfortable present she had ever been given.
Robbie said the incident happened “very, very early” in her career, when a male actor she was working with handed her a copy of Why French Women Don’t Get Fat.
“Very, very early in my career, an actor I worked with, a male actor, gave me a book called Why French Women Don’t Get Fat, and it was essentially a book telling you to eat less,” Robbie, 35, said.
The lifestyle book by Mireille Guiliano was published in 2007.
Robbie made it clear how she felt about the gesture at the time, adding, “I was like, ‘Whoa, f— you, dude.’”
She explained that the gift came “really back in the day” and said she has no idea where the actor is now.
Charli xcx quickly jumped in with a joke, turning to the camera and saying, “Your career’s over, babe.”
Reflecting further, Robbie said the message behind the gift was unmistakable. “He essentially gave me a book to let me know that I should lose weight,” she said.
“I was like, ‘Wow.’”
The conversation took place as Robbie promotes Wuthering Heights, writer-director Emerald Fennell’s new adaptation of the Emily Brontë classic, which arrives in cinemas on Friday, February 13.
Robbie leads the film, while Charli xcx, 33, has contributed original music to the project.
The pop star also shared her own unsettling experience when discussing bad gifts, telling Robbie that she once received “a small jar of one of my fan’s mother’s ashes”.
She described it as “a jar on a necklace” and admitted she did not know what to do with it, adding, “I just didn’t quite know what to do with it … I don’t know where it is now.”
Wuthering Heights also stars Jacob Elordi, Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes and Ewan Mitchell, and is set to be released in cinemas on Friday, February 13.
