A person who was briefly detained for questioning Tuesday evening in Rio Rico, Arizona, in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie has been released, authorities said.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said deputies detained an individual during a traffic stop south of Tucson, near the U.S.-Mexico border, hours after the FBI released surveillance images of a masked person wearing what appeared to be a handgun holster outside Guthrie’s front door the night she vanished.

The department and the FBI also conducted a court-authorized search at a home in Rio Rico, a community of about 20,000 residents roughly an hour south of Tucson and about 15 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border. Authorities said Tuesday night the search was expected to take several hours. By Wednesday morning, investigators had left the residence, the scene was cleared, and police tape had been removed.

A man at the home identified himself to Fox News as Carlos Palazuelos. He said he was the person pulled over during the traffic stop and detained for questioning but has since been released and is back at the house.

Palazuelos told Fox News he works in Tucson delivering packages and said he had nothing to do with Guthrie’s disappearance. He said investigators questioned him about his whereabouts and took his phone before ultimately releasing him.

Palazuelos said it was a “possibility” he may have delivered a package to Guthrie’s residence.

He said law enforcement showed one of his in-laws a photo of a masked person seen in surveillance footage on Guthrie’s property and that it “supposedly looked like my eyes.”

“That’s it. That’s all I know,” Palazuelos said.

The FBI on Tuesday released short surveillance clips showing a masked person wearing a backpack and what appeared to be a handgun holster outside Guthrie’s home the night she disappeared. At one point, the individual appears to tilt their head away from a doorbell camera, hold a flashlight in their mouth and attempt to cover the lens with a gloved hand and what looked like part of a plant pulled from the yard.

Investigators have said for more than a week that they believe Guthrie was taken against her will. She was last seen at her home on Jan. 31 and was reported missing the next day. DNA testing determined that blood found on her porch belonged to her, authorities have said.

Guthrie, 84, is the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie. Her disappearance on Feb. 1 has drawn national attention. Savannah Guthrie and her two siblings have released multiple video statements pleading for their mother’s return and indicating a willingness to pay a ransom, while asking for proof that she is alive.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has said Nancy Guthrie is mentally sound but has limited mobility and takes several medications, raising concerns about her health if she does not have access to them.

The FBI has begun posting digital billboards in several major cities seeking tips, and officials have urged anyone with information to contact investigators.

Big mistake to legalize marijuana? Health experts warn of ‘worse outcomes'

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

After years of backing the legalization of marijuana in the U.S., The New York Times changed course in an editorial published Tuesday.

In the piece, entitled “It’s Time for America to Admit That It Has a Marijuana Problem,” the editorial board stated that the U.S. “has recently gone too far in accepting and even promoting its use.”

This is a stark departure from the publication’s longtime support of making marijuana mainstream. In a 2014 editorial, the Times argued the federal ban on the drug should be repealed, and the decision should be left up to the individual states.

MARIJUANA COMPOUND MAY HELP PREVENT DEMENTIA WHEN PAIRED WITH COMMON DRUG

“Prohibition has proved to be a costly failure, with harsh consequences for millions of Americans,” the 2014 piece stated. “The criminalization of marijuana has been a boon for illegal drug markets and has disproportionately burdened minority communities.”

Now, however, the Times is acknowledging that many of its predictions were wrong — and that marijuana’s legalization has led to more problems than anticipated, chiefly that its use is far more widespread.

A 2024 survey from Carnegie Mellon found that approximately 18 million Americans used marijuana daily or near-daily — a “a deeply disturbing number,” according to Dr. Marc Siegel, Fox News senior medical analyst.

By comparison, 14.7 million people are daily or near-daily drinkers.

Between 1992 and 2022, daily marijuana use became about 15 times more common, according to the survey, which relied on data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health.

‘HIGH JANUARY’ FUELS CANNABIS BOOM AS EXPERTS FLAG SOME SERIOUS HEALTH DANGERS

Jonathan Caulkins, a cannabis policy researcher who led the study at Carnegie Mellon University, pointed to some trends that may have contributed to the increased use.

“Greater use of ‘new’ product forms — meaning vapes, dabs and edibles, versus joints and bongs — are fairly longstanding, and I would guess that more likely than not, they probably have continued,” he told Fox News Digital.

“Cannabis is definitely addictive … It also interferes with performance and memory.”

Different forms of cannabis create different risks, according to Caulkins. “For example, edibles are prone to people inadvertently taking more than desired because there is a delay before the effects hit,” he said.

Smoking marijuana is also unhealthy, however, because cannabis smoke contains carcinogens, tar and other dangerous elements.

“That is riskier to inhale into the lungs — a fragile and sensitive organ — than the stomach, which is well-equipped to deal with contaminants,” Caulkins said.

Health risks

The spike in marijuana use has led to some serious health harms, the Times wrote.

Frequent cannabis users are much more likely to become dependent on the drug, with at least one in 10 developing an addiction, according to the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

“Cannabis is definitely addictive — the brain is affected, leading directly to addiction,” Siegel told Fox News Digital. “It also interferes with performance and memory.”

It isn’t a question of whether legalization was a mistake or not, the doctor said, but whether it can be legalized without the potential for addiction, “which fuels negative outcomes and a zombie society.”

Cannabis users are more likely to develop paranoia and chronic psychotic disorders, peer-reviewed studies have found. (iStock)

“At a time when the [Trump] administration is focusing on addiction, cannabis needs to be part of this,” he added.

Peer-reviewed studies have also found that cannabis users are more likely to develop paranoia and chronic psychotic disorders.

MAJOR CANNABIS STUDY FINDS LITTLE PROOF FOR POPULAR MEDICAL CLAIMS, FLAGS BIG DANGERS

Dr. Laura Gardner, a psychiatrist and director of the Psychotic Disorders Program at Silver Hill Hospital in Connecticut, said she has seen firsthand the public health effects of the rise in cannabis use after legalization.

“As a psychiatrist specializing in the treatment of psychotic and mood disorders, I have witnessed the devastating impact that heavy use of high-potency cannabis can have on a subset of vulnerable young adults who develop severe and persistent psychotic disorders,” she told Fox News Digital.

Marijuana is weighed and packaged for sale at the Northwest Patient Resource Center medical marijuana dispensary, Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in Seattle. Washington state is on the verge of becoming the first in the nation to let adults over 21 buy taxed, inspected marijuana at state-licensed shops. Supporters of Initiative 502 say allowing recreational pot sales could make drug laws a little more reasonable, prevent thousands of arrests a year, and bring Washington hundreds of millions of dollars to help pay for schools, health care and basic government services. “When I treat young adults in the hospital whose lives have been completely derailed by the onset of severe psychosis associated with cannabis use, the typical response I get is outrage — ‘How did we not know about this? Why did no one warn us that this could happen?’” Gardner said.

“Right now, our nation’s psychiatrists, nurses and mental health workers are trying to pick up the pieces, to help pull fragile minds back together, but it feels like too little too late at times,” she went on. “These cases may be preventable. We need to do more.”

Cannabis use disorder is also linked to an increased risk of both bipolar disorder and depression, Gardner added, constituting what she calls a “mental health crisis.”

“It is time to acknowledge reality and change course.”

Another risk is cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, which occurs when long-term, frequent marijuana use causes repeated bouts of severe nausea, vomiting and stomach pain. This condition affects nearly 2.8 million Americans each year, studies show.

“The unfortunate truth is that the loosening of marijuana policies — especially the decision to legalize pot without adequately regulating it — has led to worse outcomes than many Americans expected,” the Times editorial said. “It is time to acknowledge reality and change course.”

Call for change

While the editorial board did not call for marijuana to be re-criminalized, it does suggest stricter regulations.

“America should not go back to prohibition to fix these problems,” it wrote. “There is a lot of space between heavy-handed criminal prohibition and hands-off commercial legalization.”

The average THC concentration in U.S. cannabis rose from approximately 4% in 1995 to 12% in 2014, according to one expert. (iStock)

To reduce use, the editorial recommended imposing a federal tax and raising state taxes. It also calls for restrictions on the most harmful forms of marijuana.

“Today’s cannabis is far more potent than the pot that preceded legalization,” the Times said. “The appropriate response is both to make illegal any marijuana product that exceeds a THC level of 60% and to impose higher taxes on potent forms of pot.”

The average THC concentration in U.S. cannabis rose from approximately 4% in 1995 to 12% in 2014, according to Gardner. In modern state-regulated markets, lower-potency THC now averages around 20%, with ultra-high potency concentrates reaching levels as high as 90% to 95%, she noted.

“Ending legalization will not work, but using the tax dollars to educate the public on the realities of cannabis consumption can clear up misconceptions about health impacts,” one industry expert stated. (iStock)

The editorial also suggested cracking down on false medical claims.

“Decades of studies on the drug have proved disappointing to its boosters … Yet many dispensaries claim, without evidence, that marijuana treats a host of medical conditions,” the board said. “The government should crack down on these outlandish claims.”

Siegel agreed that cannabis has “limited and unproven medical value.”

Riana Durrett, director of the Cannabis Policy Institute at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), agreed with the editorial that the U.S. should not go back to cannabis prohibition and that the federal government should reform its approach.

“Today’s cannabis is far more potent than the pot that preceded legalization.”

“One aspect of cannabis legalization that is left out of the article is that the industry already pays significant taxes,” she told Fox News Digital.

“Anybody who believes cannabis legalization has been detrimental needs to focus their attention on dedicating the tax revenue toward public health efforts and campaigns.”

Halle Berry reveals how she knew Van Hunt was the one

Halle Berry is sharing how she knew her current beau Van Hunt is the one.

After the couple revealed that they are engaged, the actress is sharing what makes Hunt different and right for her.

At the Los Angeles premiere of her latest film, Crime 101, on Tuesday, Feb. 10, Berry told, “You know, you get to be 54, you just kind of done it a few times, three, to be exact.”

“You just kind of know when it’s right, ’cause you know when it’s wrong,” she said.

The Catwoman star has been married three times before, to David Justice, Eric Benét and Olivier Martinez.

The actress revealed the engagement during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She cleared up rumors that Hunt proposed to her and she said no.

“There’s some confusion that he asked to marry me and I said no,” she said.

“But, that’s not the case?” asked Fallon, 51.

“No, that’s not the case,” The Union star explained. “I did not say ‘no,’ we just don’t have a date. Of course, I said ‘yes, I would marry him.’ “

Montana LB Tuliaupupu granted 9th year of eligibility by NCAA

Montana linebacker Solomon Tuliaupupu will return for the 2026 season after being granted a ninth year of eligibility by the NCAA.

The school announced Tuliaupupu’s return on social media Monday alongside sixth-year offensive lineman Dylan Jemtegaard.

Tuliaupupu is entering his second season at Montana after starting his collegiate career at USC in 2018. He was sidelined for his entire undergraduate campaign at USC after two surgery-requiring injuries impacting his foot (2018) and knee (2020).

The linebacker’s first season at Montana — and eighth overall — was just his second full season played and third with game action.

He saw the field for the first time as a redshirt senior in 2022, appearing in all 14 games for the Trojans and recording 10 tackles, including three for a loss, and one quarterback hurry.

Tuliaupupu was sidelined by another injury in 2023 and missed the whole season. He wrapped up his USC career in 2024, playing in seven games for the Trojans before his season was cut short because of illness. He transferred to Montana in 2025.

Tuliaupupu will play under new Montana coach Bobby Kennedy. Kennedy is succeeding Bobby Hauck, who was named defensive coordinator at Illinois on Monday after a brief retirement.

Will Warner Bros finalize deal with Paramount or stays loyal with Netflix’s offer?

Will Warner Bros finalize deal with Paramount or stays loyal with Netflix

Will Warner Bros finalize deal with Paramount or stays loyal with Netflix’s offer?

It seems like it’s been ages that the drama around ‘Netflix’ and ‘Paramount’ acquiring a deal with Warner Bros. continues to revolve around global attention but not be seen around finalizing.

The latest update reveals that Paramount’s quest to clinch Warner Bros. Discovery can be measured in inches.

The “Mission: Impossible” studio owned by the Ellison family improved its takeover bid for the rival entertainment empire Netflix, but only by drip-feeding out extra cash over time and funding some extra fees.

These baby steps, however, will not be enough to oust Netflix as the chosen buyer.

The sweeteners are certainly welcome, in part by acknowledging that time is money. They include about $650 million in cash for WBD shareholders each quarter after December 31, 2026, if the deal fails to secure regulatory approval.

Paramount also said it would cover the $2.8 billion termination fee WBD would owe Netflix for scrapping their agreement, among other minor tweaks.

Although it may put additional pressure on WBD boss David Zaslav, the baseline $108 billion deal, at $30 a share, hasn’t changed.

It does call attention to the idea that the more debt is bundled up with the studio and streaming divisions that Netflix wants, the less cash shareholders will pocket.

The consideration could fall as low as $21.23 per share, per Paramount’s calculations, a discount of more than 20%.

Deal offers and competing bids:

Netflix:

Netflix has a signed agreement as of early December 2025 to acquire Warner Bros.’ studio and streaming assets like HBO/Max for approximately $83 billion.

Paramount’s Hostile Bid:

Paramount has been recently attempting to disrupt the Netflix deal by going directly to shareholders with a higher $30-per-share all-cash offer, valuing WBD at over $108 billion including debt.

Latest Developments as of February 2026:

Feb 10-11, 2026: Paramount sweetened its hostile offer by adding a “ticking fee”—an extra $0.25 per share payable to WBD shareholders for each quarter the deal doesn’t close after Dec 31, 2026.

Breakup Fee Coverage: Paramount pledged to pay the $2.8 billion breakup fee that WBD would owe to Netflix if they switch to the Paramount deal.

Regulatory Status:

Paramount claims it is making faster progress with regulatory bodies, having complied with a DOJ request on February 9, 2026, and secured German regulatory clearance on January 27, 2026.

Why is the deal not getting finalized?

Despite Paramount’s higher offer, the Warner Bros. Discovery WBD board has repeatedly recommended that shareholders stick with the Netflix deal, arguing that the Netflix deal offers better long-term stability and that the Paramount offer carries higher risk.

The path for Netflix to persuade trustbusters is also precarious given its dominant position in streaming TV.

Moreover, Comcast’s recent spinoff of its cable networks, Versant Media, doesn’t bode well for the valuation of WBD’s own portfolio that it plans to list independently.

Even so, Zaslav has been able to hold his ground and stick with the Netflix deal so far.

Experts review that Paramount isn’t getting very far by limping along, and to make real strides, it will take a knockout bid.

The decision is still pending in Warner Bros. Discovery’s court on how it responds to the latest offer and locks a deal with one of the top leading media and entertainment platforms, including Netflix and Paramount.

5 In-Clinic Beauty Treatments To Get Glowing Skin In Preparation For Valentine’s Day

Last Updated:

Glow is not something we apply to the skin. It emerges when congestion, imbalance, and inflammation are removed, and when structure and hydration are restored.

Prepare your skin before heading out for Valentine's Day celebrations

Prepare your skin before heading out for Valentine’s Day celebrations

It is true when they say that beauty comes from within and that inner glow is not just on the surface. It is a visible outcome of skin that is hydrated correctly, structured well, evenly toned, and biologically calm. When these elements align, the skin reflects light softly, without glare, without effort.

With Valentine’s Day approaching, now is the time to prepare your skin so that it looks it best when you head out to celebrate the day of love. We speak to Dr Yash Mehta, facial plastic surgeon and founder of the Aesthetics & Cosmetic Surgery Clinic (ACSC), to understand which in-clinic treatments are essential when the objective is skin that is refined and has enduring luminosity:

Medical-Grade Hydration Infusions

Glow begins with hydration, but not the cosmetic kind. Treatments such as Profhilo, NCTF (New Cellular Treatment Factor), and AquaGold deliver hyaluronic acid, vitamins, and bioactive nutrients into precise layers of the skin. These therapies improve elasticity, smooth micro-texture, and restore the skin’s ability to evenly hold light. The effect is subtle and sophisticated, resulting in skin that looks rested rather than enhanced.

Energy-Based Skin Refinement

Uneven tone, redness, and textural disruption interrupt the glow. Technologies such as the Forma address these concerns by working beneath the surface – stimulating collagen, refining pores, and improving firmness. These devices are used conservatively, focusing on long-term refinement rather than aggressive resurfacing. The result is clarity and quiet uniformity.

Collagen-Stimulating Treatments

True luminosity has depth. Morpheus8, in particular, plays a central role here, combining radiofrequency with microneedling to strengthen the skin’s structural framework. As collagen quality improves, the skin becomes smoother, firmer, and more resilient, allowing light to reflect evenly rather than scatter.

Regenerative Skin Therapies

When skin appears dull despite correction, regeneration is often required. Exosome therapy supports cellular repair, reduces inflammation, and improves overall skin vitality. These treatments are especially valuable after energy-based procedures, accelerating recovery while enhancing glow at a biological level.

Curated Clinical Facials & Skin Resets

Maintenance is essential. The HydraFacial MD provides deep cleansing, controlled exfoliation, and hydration, restoring balance without overstimulation. For selected skin types, the Blue Peel is used to refine texture and tone, encouraging renewal while preserving skin integrity. These treatments reset the skin, allowing it to function and glow naturally.

Glow is not something we apply to the skin. It emerges when congestion, imbalance, and inflammation are removed, and when structure and hydration are restored.

T20 World Cup: Australia Captain Mitchell Marsh Injured, Steve Smith Called Up - SUCH TV

Australia suffered an early setback in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 as captain Mitchell Marsh was ruled out of the opening match against Ireland due to injury.

The match is being played at the R. Premadasa Stadium, where Travis Head is leading the side in Marsh’s absence.

According to Cricket Australia, Marsh sustained a serious groin injury during a side-arm throwdown session in training on Sunday. He immediately left the nets after experiencing discomfort.

Medical scans later confirmed an internal injury, and team officials stated that the all-rounder will require rest and rehabilitation. His participation in Australia’s next match against Zimbabwe also remains doubtful.

In Marsh’s absence, Matthew Renshaw has been included in the World Cup playing XI for the first time, while Josh Inglis has partnered Travis Head at the top of the order.

Meanwhile, Steve Smith is set to travel to Sri Lanka as a standby player and may be added to the squad if required.

Marsh’s injury comes at a crucial stage of the tournament, posing a significant challenge for Australia’s campaign.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet President Donald Trump at the White House on Wednesday in a visit expected to center on Iran, as Washington weighs diplomacy against the threat of military action and Israel pushes to shape the scope of negotiations.

Trump has signaled the Iranian file will dominate the agenda. In a phone interview with Axios, the president said Tehran “very much wants to reach a deal,” but warned, “Either we make a deal, or we’ll have to do something very tough — like last time.”

Netanyahu, speaking before departing Israel for Washington, said he intends to present Israel’s position. “I will present to the president our concept regarding the principles of the negotiations — the essential principles that are important not only to Israel but to anyone who wants peace and security in the Middle East,” he told reporters.

The meeting comes days after U.S. and Iranian officials resumed talks in Oman for the first time since last summer’s 12-day war, while the United States continues to maintain a significant military presence in the Gulf — a posture widely viewed as both deterrence and for holding leverage in negotiations with Tehran.

From the U.S. perspective, Iran is seen as a global security challenge rather than a regional one, according to Jacob Olidort, chief research officer and director of American security at the America First Policy Institute. “It’s an important historic time of potentially seismic proportions,” he told Fox News Digital.

“Iran is not so much a Middle East issue. It’s a global issue affecting U.S. interests around the world,” he added, calling the regime “probably the world’s oldest global terror network… [with] thousands of Americans killed through proxies.”

Olidort said the administration’s strategy appears to combine diplomacy with visible military pressure. “The president has been clear… should talks not be successful, the military option cannot be off the table,” he said. “Military assets in the region serve as part of the negotiation strategy with Iran.”

ISRAELI UN AMBASSADOR SENDS STARK WARNING TO IRAN AMID GROWING UNREST

For Israel, the main concern is not only Iran’s nuclear program but also its ballistic missile arsenal and regional network of armed groups.

Trump indicated to Axios that the United States shares at least part of that view, saying any agreement would need to address not only nuclear issues but also Iran’s ballistic missiles.

Israeli intelligence expert Sima Shein has warned that negotiations narrowly focused on nuclear restrictions could leave Israel exposed. “The visit signals a lack of confidence that American envoys, Witkoff and Kushner, alone can represent Israel’s interests in the best way. They were in Israel just a week ago — but Netanyahu wants to speak directly with Trump, so there is no ambiguity about Israel’s position,” she added.

Her analysis further suggests that a sanctions-relief agreement that leaves Iran’s broader capabilities intact could stabilize the regime at a moment of internal pressure while preserving its military leverage.

“An agreement now would effectively save the regime at a time when it has no real solutions to its internal problems. Lifting sanctions through a deal would give it breathing room and help stabilize it,” she said.

“If there is an agreement, the United States must demand the release of all detainees and insist on humanitarian measures, including medical support for those who have been severely injured. Washington would need to be directly involved in enforcing those provisions.”

Netanyahu said before leaving Israel that he and Trump would discuss “a series of topics,” including Gaza, where a U.S.-backed postwar framework and ceasefire implementation remain stalled.

According to Israeli reporting, Netanyahu plans to tell Trump that phase two of the Gaza peace plan “is not moving,” reflecting continued disputes over disarmament, governance and security arrangements.

The timing of Netanyahu’s visit may also allow him to avoid returning to Washington the following week for the inaugural session of the Board of Peace, Shein said, noting the initiative is controversial in Israel’s parliament.

“Israel is deeply concerned about the presence of Turkey and Qatar on the board of peace and their malign influence on other members as well as on the Palestinian authority’s technocratic government,” Dan Diker, president of the Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs, told Fox News Digital.

“Hamas’s control of Gaza has not weakened, while international commitments to disarm Hamas have appeared to weaken,” he added, “The longer the U.S. waits before taking action against the Iranian regime, the more compromised Israel is in its ability and determination to forcibly disarm Hamas, both of which require the sanction and the blessing of the new international structures on Gaza.”

“The prime minister’s deep concern is the stalled state of affairs both against the Iranian regime and apparently in Gaza. Timing is critical on both fronts. And for Israel, the window seems to be closing,” Diker said. Â
