Television host and comedian Tabish Hashmi is set to make his feature film debut with a negative role in Aag Lagay Basti Mein, marking a new chapter in his entertainment career.
Hashmi, best known for hosting the comedy talk show, has built a reputation for his quick wit and conversational style, interviewing many of the country’s leading political, cultural and entertainment figures. Before entering mainstream television, he performed stand-up comedy, gaining recognition for his natural comic timing.
The upcoming film also marks actor Fahad Mustafa’s return to cinemas. Aag Lagay Basti Mein is Mustafa’s first production venture, in which he stars opposite Mahira Khan. The project has generated interest not only for its leading cast but also for Hashmi’s transition from television hosting to acting.
Speaking at a recent appearance, Hashmi was asked whether he felt nervous about making his acting debut. Responding in a light-hearted manner, he said it was Mustafa who had invested in the film and therefore had more reason to feel anxious. “I have done my job with what was given to me,” he remarked, drawing laughter from the audience.
Fans have expressed anticipation over Hashmi’s role, particularly as he is set to portray a negative character in the film.
At least nine people were killed in connection to a mass shooting Tuesday at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia, officials said Wednesday. Police identified the suspect, reportedly also found dead, as an 18-year-old transgender woman who allegedly killed two of their family members at home before opening fire at the school.
The Tumbler Ridge Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) confirmed to Fox News Digital that officers responded to reports of an active shooter at the school at 1:20 p.m. local time Tuesday. While searching the school, officers found six victims dead from gunshot wounds and the alleged shooter, identified as 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar, dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted injury.
Authorities said Van Rootselaar had attended the school before dropping out roughly four years ago. Van Rootselaar, who identified as female but was assigned male at birth, began transitioning six years ago.
Van Rootselaar reportedly had a history of mental health–related contact with police and may have had access to weapons stored at home. Police said officials visited the residence multiple times in recent years for mental health calls, during which weapons were briefly seized under the Criminal Code but later returned following a petition by the lawful owner.

Two firearms, a long gun and a modified handgun, were recovered inside the school by the police, RCMP said. Neither weapon was registered to Van Rootselaar, who previously had a firearms license, but expired in 2024.
The six victims found at the school were identified as a 39-year-old female educator, three 12-year-old female students, and two male students, aged 12 and 13.
During the investigation, police identified a secondary location believed to be connected to the incident. Two additional victims were found dead inside a residence and were identified as the suspect’s 39-year-old mother and 11-year-old step-brother.
Officials added that two victims were airlifted to a hospital with serious or life-threatening injuries. One of the wounded, a woman previously believed to have died, is now alive, lowering the death toll from the initially reported 10 to nine.

Approximately 25 others with non-life-threatening injuries were taken for assessment at the local medical center, police said.
“This was a rapidly evolving and dynamic situation, and the swift cooperation from the school, first responders, and the community played a critical role in our response,” Superintendent Ken Floyd, North District Commander, said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the families, loved ones, and all those impacted by this tragic incident. This has been an incredibly difficult and emotional day for our community, and we are grateful for the cooperation shown as officers continue their work to advance the investigation.”
All remaining students and staff were safely evacuated from the school, police said.
Police do not believe there are any additional suspects or ongoing threat to the public.
Floyd confirmed the shooter was the same individual described in a police alert issued earlier in the day as a “female in a dress with brown hair.”

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said he was devastated by the horrific shootings.
“My prayers and deepest condolences are with the families and friends who have lost loved ones to these horrific acts of violence. I join Canadians in grieving with those whose lives have been changed irreversibly today, and in gratitude for the courage and selflessness of the first responders who risked their lives to protect their fellow citizens. Our ability to come together in crisis is the best of our country — our empathy, our unity, and our compassion for each other,” he wrote on X.
The RCMP initially confirmed an active shooter incident Tuesday at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia, with at least one suspect found dead.
Additional police resources were deployed to the area from neighboring detachments, along with the North District Emergency Response Team.
In a message posted to its website, the Peace River South School District said it was “aware of a lockdown and secure and hold at Tumbler Ridge Secondary and Tumbler Ridge Elementary schools.”
“We are asking people to have patience as we work with the RCMP,” school officials wrote.
Larry Neufeld, who represents Peace River South in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, released a statement on social media noting he was heading to the scene.
“I am aware of the active shooter situation currently unfolding in Tumbler Ridge, and my thoughts are with residents as this situation continues to develop,” Neufeld wrote. “I have been in direct contact with the Solicitor General to receive updates and to ensure all necessary provincial resources are being made available to support local law enforcement and emergency responders.
“Public safety is the absolute priority. I urge everyone in the area to follow RCMP instructions, remain sheltered, and rely only on official updates,” he continued. “I am leaving Victoria immediately to return to my riding to be on the ground and available to support the community in any way needed. I will continue to stay closely engaged as this situation evolves.”

“For those who know me, ya’ll know this won’t stop me from spreading peace and joy to the world. Full steam ahead. I’m in great spirits and ready to make the most of this off-season.”
San Francisco Police Department released a statement saying, at approximately 4:06 a.m., officers “responded to a business located on the 1700 block of Mission Street regarding a shooting.”
Upon arrival, officers found White suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in his ankle. It was deemed non-life-threatening, and he was transported to a local hospital.
“A preliminary investigation revealed a verbal altercation occurred between two groups inside a business,” the statement continued. “The victim was injured when shots were fired by an unknown suspect. All information is preliminary at this time, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.”
The incident occurred just hours after the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California — White’s home field.

White was spotted on his Instagram account wearing Patriots gear while attending Super Bowl LX. He played five games with the Patriots this season before joining the 49ers in a trade prior to the NFL deadline.
The 49ers sent a 2026 sixth-round draft pick to the Patriots in exchange for White and a 2026 seventh-round pick.
White collected 1.5 sacks and 12 combined tackles with six quarterback hits over his nine games (two starts) for the 49ers this season. He also recorded a sack and four tackles in two playoff games for San Francisco.

Pakistani actress Hania Aamir has once again drawn social media attention after making a playful remark about singer Asim Azhar during a recent public appearance.
The two entertainers, who were previously in a relationship before parting ways several years ago, have frequently been the subject of online speculation regarding their personal lives.
After his split from Aamir, Azhar became engaged to actress Merub Ali, though the engagement ended three years later. Recent rumours have suggested the possibility of renewed closeness between Aamir and Azhar, though neither has publicly confirmed such claims.
At a recent event, Aamir was asked to name her favourite singer. Smiling, she responded humorously, “Do you want me to say Asim Azhar’s name?” The brief comment prompted laughter from the audience and quickly circulated across social media platforms, where users shared clips and reactions.
Aamir has previously responded to speculation about her personal life in a light-hearted manner, often engaging with fans’ questions on Instagram without directly addressing rumours.
Her latest remark has further fuelled online discussion about her equation with Azhar, though both artists have remained publicly silent on the nature of their current relationship.
The clip continues to trend across social media, with fans and commentators offering varied reactions.
With six minutes to go at Anfield last Sunday, Arsenal were nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table. But after two late goals against Liverpool and a ruthless dismantling of Fulham on Wednesday, the gap is down to three. It means the pressure is back on Arsenal ahead of their trip to Brentford on Thursday.
If the title race was sparked into life by Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland on Merseyside, City kept their foot on the pedal against Fulham. In the first half, there were three goals in 15 minutes from Antoine Semenyo, Nico O’Reilly and Haaland that set Pep Guardiola’s side on their way to a comfortable 3-0 win.
Any Arsenal fan watching in hope of a slip-up will have turned off the TV by halftime. Mikel Arteta’s team dealt with their first real test of the run-in by beating Leeds United4-0 at Elland Road a week after losing to Manchester United.
City, at the very least, are ensuring that Arsenal have to answer the question about whether they have the fortitude to win the league for the first time in more than 20 years. Brentford, with just two home losses all season, is a tough place to go in any circumstances, but especially when the spotlight is on.
It’s a tense moment for Arteta and his players, although Guardiola rejected the chance to crank up the pressure in his post-match news conference.
“We were not nine points before Anfield, we are not three points before Brentford and Arsenal, after that we will see,” said Guardiola.
“I always say the focus is to grow, grow, grow.
“It’s how we can be more consistent over 90 minutes, how we can be better and the players feel that [they are] doing what we want to do.
“‘We can do it’ in terms of mentality and patterns defensively and offensively. We are doing that.”
This version of City — still blending new players and new ideas — will perhaps never have the air of invincibility of the treble winners or the team that earned 100 points. There is, though, a sense that things are slowly starting to come together.
Rúben Dias was fit enough to start against Fulham after missing more than a month with a muscle injury. After complaints from Guardiola that too much of the goalscoring responsibility was falling to Haaland, Semenyo has arrived from Bournemouth and scored five goals in eight games.
Haaland was substituted at halftime — “niggles” said Guardiola afterwards — but not before scoring his first Premier League goal from open play in 2026. Rodri has been able to start six of the last eight games. Nico González, his understudy, is back from injury. John Stones, missing for more than two months, has returned.
Of course, none of it will mean anything if Arsenal keep winning. But the closer it gets to the meeting between the top two at the Etihad in late April, with City still in touching distance, the more chance there is for nerves to creep in.
It was well-timed, then, for City to put in what Guardiola described as one of their best games of the season.
“A really good performance, one of the best,” said Guardiola.
“After Anfield, it is important that after these emotional games because the next one is always tricky. I’m really pleased with the performance of the guys and the results.
“We were together, more calm with the ball, we made inside, outside. After physically and emotionally at Anfield, it was tricky, but we talked a lot and I said ‘Guys, we have to do it again,’ and we did it.”
Job done for City and now over to Arsenal. He doesn’t want to get drawn into mind games yet, but Guardiola has won enough titles to know that we’re entering the crucial phase of the season. After the FA Cup tie against Salford City on Saturday, City play three of the bottom six — Leeds, Nottingham Forest and West Ham United — in their next four league games.
Over the same period, Arsenal face Chelsea at home and trips to Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion. Then comes the Carabao Cup final when Guardiola and Arteta will go head-to-head in a Wembley warm-up before the Premier League run-in. The ingredients are there for a frantic finish.
A race that looked all but over at one point on Sunday is now alive and kicking.
VAR review: Why didn’t Foden get sent off for a foul on Bassey?

Manchester City 3-0 Fulham
Referee: Paul Tierney VAR: Neil Davies Time: 65 minutes Incident: Possible red card by Man City attacker Phil Foden
What happened: Fulham’s Calvin Bassey strode away from Manchester City’s Phil Foden, and the City attacker stood on the Achilles of Bassey with a level of force, not attempting to play the ball. The referee produced a yellow card for the challenge.
VAR decision: The challenge by Bassey was checked and cleared. The VAR agreed that the challenge by Foden was reckless only.
VAR review: This was a quick check by VAR Neil Davies, who was comfortable that the challenge didn’t meet the threshold for a serious foul play challenge. He checked and cleared the tackle very quickly.
Verdict / Insight: An incorrect on-field and VAR review in my opinion, and one that both will be disappointed with on review. Foden, with no opportunity to win the ball, nor did he try to do so, stamped on the Achilles of Bassey in what is clearly a challenge that endangered the safety of his opponent.
The nature of the challenge looked clear in real time, and so both referee Paul Tierney and VAR Davies will be accountable for a clear error. Foden was substituted very soon after, which possibly tells its own story.

Eleven people were charged in Florida in an alleged marriage fraud scheme that involved the recruitment of U.S. military service members to marry Chinese citizens.
The scheme was orchestrated by a Chinese transnational gang that recruited military members to participate in fraudulent marriages so that Chinese citizens could obtain immigration benefits and access cards for U.S. military installations, said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“This investigation underscores the critical role that HSI (Homeland Security Investigations) plays in protecting our nation from transnational criminal organizations that seek to exploit our customs and immigration laws and threaten our national security,” said HSI Tampa acting Special Agent in Charge Michael Cochran.
“Through the dedication and expertise of our agents and partners, we have successfully investigated, disrupted and dismantled a sophisticated criminal network operating across borders.”

The sham marriages took place around the country, including in Jacksonville, Florida, as well as in New York, Connecticut and Nevada.
To bolster claims that the marriages were genuine, the suspects took photographs of the couples to create evidence that could be presented to immigration authorities to suggest they were in loving, committed relationships.
In reality, the suspects had agreed to a payment plan whereby the U.S. citizen spouse would receive a cash payment up front for marrying the Chinese national, a second payment when legal immigration status was obtained and a final payment after a divorce.

Five people were charged with marriage fraud conspiracy between March 2024 and February 2025:
Anny Chen, 54, of New York. She was also charged with marriage fraud and bribery conspiracy.
Kiah Holly, 29, of Maryland.
Kin Man Cheok, 32, of China, who was also charged with bribery conspiracy between November 2024 and Feb. 14, 2025.
Hailing Feng, 27, of New York, who was also charged with bribery conspiracy.
Xionghu Fang, 41, of China.
Raymond Zumba, Brinio Urena, Morgan Chambers and Jacinth Bailey, former U.S. Navy service members, have all pleaded guilty to charges related to the same scheme. Their sentences are pending.
Federal prosecutors also allege that Anny Chen, Hailing Feng and Kin Man Cheok conspired to bribe a public official. Zumba, who served in the Navy Reserve, allegedly offered to bribe an unidentified source and the source’s spouse who worked at Naval Air Station Jacksonville in the personnel office that issues Department of War identification cards.
Zumba allegedly asked whether the spouse would be willing to issue real, but unauthorized, ID cards for an under-the-table payment. The source reported the plan to authorities and continued to communicate with Zumba.

After driving from New York, Zumba arrived in Jacksonville Feb. 13, 2025, with Anny Chen, Feng and Cheok.
He brought them to the Naval Air Station Jacksonville, where the source’s spouse let them into the personnel office after business hours and initiated the process for Chen and Cheok to receive ID cards. The following day, Zumba met with the source, who allegedly gave him two cards in exchange for $3,500.
Zumba was promptly arrested, and the cards were recovered, authorities said.
Ben Stiller slams congressman for ‘disgusting’ request against Bad Bunny
Ben Stiller has publicly pushed back against calls for federal action over Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime show, mocking a Republican congressman’s demand for an investigation and defending the performance as a celebration of inclusion and talent.
The Severance executive producer and director weighed in after Florida representative Randy Fine said he was asking the Federal Communications Commission to investigate Bad Bunny’s halftime appearance, which aired during Sunday’s Super Bowl.
Fine described the show as “disgusting and por**graphic filth” and claimed it violated broadcast standards after the Puerto Rican superstar allegedly used profanity in Spanish.
Stiller responded directly to Fine on X with a sharply sarcastic post that quickly gained traction.
“Focus of investigation: how did Bad Bunny manage to kick ass at such a high level and deliver the most watched and well produced half time show about inclusion and love ever made….investigators plan to explore source of Bunny’s huge talent, off the charts charisma and even bigger heart,” he wrote.
Credit: X/BenStiller
Fine, a Republican representing Florida’s 6th congressional district, had earlier said he was sending a letter to FCC chairman Brendan Carr calling for what he described as “dramatic action”.
In posts and in the letter, Fine argued that language used during the performance crossed legal lines.
Credit: X/RepFine
“You can’t say the f-word on live TV. ‘Bad Bunny’s disgusting halftime show was illegal,” he wrote on X.
He added that if similar lyrics had been performed in English, “the broadcast would have been pulled down and the fines would have been enormous.”
In the letter itself, Fine doubled down, writing, “It doesn’t matter if you say it in Spanish. Encouraging children to use cocaine in a live television broadcast is a crime. It doesn’t matter who is singing.”
He urged the FCC “to conduct a thorough investigation and to pursue the maximum penalties permitted by law,” warning that anything less would suggest indecency is acceptable if it is profitable.
Fine was not alone in his criticism.
Tennessee representative Andy Ogles and Missouri representative Mark Alford also called for the FCC to look into the halftime show.
Donald Trump joined the backlash, branding the performance “a slap in the face to our country”, despite Bad Bunny being an American citizen born in Puerto Rico.
Stiller’s comments, however, turned him into one of the most prominent Hollywood figures to publicly ridicule the campaign against the artist.
Stiller’s stance echoed similar online reactions from other entertainment figures, including Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen, who also spent time after the Super Bowl mocking critics of Bad Bunny’s performance on social media.
Despite the political uproar, the halftime show itself drew massive attention, and the controversy appears to have further highlighted its cultural reach, with Stiller’s defence underlining a broader pushback against efforts to police language, culture and identity on one of television’s biggest stages.
MILAN — The new French ice dance team of Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron upset the dominant team of the past four years, American stars Madison Chock and Evan Bates, and claimed Olympic gold at the Milan Cortina Games on Wednesday night.
Beaudry and Cizeron had to follow a season-best performance by the three-time reigning world champions, and they did it with near perfection. The duo was rewarded with a season-best 225.82 points of their own while Chock and Bates finished with 224.39, making Cizeron the first skater to win back-to-back ice dance gold with different partners.
The Canadian team of Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier earned the bronze medal with 217.74 points, pulling away from the Italian team of Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri and the British duo of Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson with a deeply emotional free skate.
As for Beaudry and Cizeron, they arrived in Milan with controversy stemming from their ex-partners swirling around them.
At this time last year, Beaudry was wondering whether she would even compete this season after Skate Canada banned her partner and longtime boyfriend, Nikolaj Sorensen, amid allegations of “sexual maltreatment.” Beaudry has steadfastly maintained his innocence and the suspension was overturned in June on jurisdictional grounds, but the case is still pending.
Cizeron stepped away from competition after the 2022 season, when he won Olympic gold with Gabriella Papadakis. But the chance to make a comeback with Beaudry, who was ninth with Sorensen at the Beijing Games, was too good to pass up.
Beaudry and Cizeron won every event they entered this season save the Grand Prix final, when they finished second to Chock and Bates in their only previous head-to-head meeting. But their smooth ride to Milan was shaken up when Papadakis wrote in her new memoir that Cizeron had been demanding, controlling and manipulative toward her — accusations he called a “smear campaign.”
The French team hardly seemed distracted by any of it Monday night, when it edged the husband-and-wife team of Chock and Bates in the rhythm dance.
Beaudry and Cizeron most definitely were not distracted by anything Wednesday night.
It would have been easy to be thrown off by the way Chock and Bates performed in the minutes before they stepped onto the ice.
The two-time Olympic gold medalists in the team event — performing to an instrumental version of “Paint it Black” from the dystopian sci-fi show “Westworld” — turned in the kind of program they have spent the past 15 years together working toward. Every movement seemed to be in perfect harmony, and the flamenco-styled choreography had the crowd clapping along.
The only question left was whether Chock and Bates, who had finished a maddening fourth in the individual ice dance at the Beijing Games, had done enough to earn the one medal that had eluded them.
It looked as if Beaudry and Cizeron gave them an opening with a bobble on their twizzles. But they soon settled into their program, set to the soundtrack from “The Whale,” and moved as if they were under water with a marvelous degree of refined elegance.
As their winning score was read, Chock and Bates joined the crowd inside the Milano Ice Skating Arena in applauding them.
