Harry Styles reveals what he learnt about life duing hiatus in Italy

Harry Styles learnt life lessons during his hiatus in Italy.

Styles took a break from music after wrapping Love on Tour in mid July 2023.

“We’d finished the tour in July and I was turning 30 in February. It was time for me to stop for a bit and pay some attention to other parts of my life,” he told The Sunday Times.

The Adore You hitmaker decided to spend his downtime in Italy and enjoy it.

“I drove there, and I thought, ‘I’m going to enjoy doing this.’ When I was in Rome, the city just taught me how to slow down,” he explained.

“Italy became so important to me because I was so used to everything moving so quickly and being on the go, but then I remember going to a café and sitting and having a coffee and thinking, ‘I don’t remember the last time I sat down and had a coffee — if I’ve ever sat down and just had a coffee,'” he reflected.

“I was suddenly learning, through my friends, that eating a meal is more than just sitting down and refueling. I realized the pleasure in just being in the moment of what you’re doing. The Romans are the best at that — that’s their speciality. The pace they’ve taught me has been so special,” he added.

During the two years of his break, his sister welcomed her daughter.

“At any other time in my life, I would have missed a lot of that. To be there to get to know my niece as she’s growing up, it’s so obvious to me what’s real. It was really obvious that was where I wanted to be,” he noted.

After his time in Rome and learning to slow down, the singer has made small changes to relax more.

“I’ve made small changes, like not having Instagram on my phone anymore,” he said. “I feel so much healthier in my relationship with this world that I’m stepping back into,” he said of the music industry.

Harry Styles recently announced his new album Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally, as well as a seven city tour.

Savannah Guthrie,  co-anchor of the popular NBC News morning show “Today,” has posted several video messages with her brother and sister, appealing to their mother’s captors for her return, pleading for the public’s help in solving the case, and even expressing a willingness to meet ransom demands.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31, when family dropped her off at her home following an evening dinner with them, and relatives reported her missing the following day, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies, many in tactical gear, on Friday converged on a house in an affluent Tucson-area neighborhood less than 2 miles (3 km) from Nancy Guthrie’s home, in what appeared to be a search of that property.

A sheriff’s department spokesperson said the activity was connected to the Guthrie investigation.

CNN reported that no arrests were made during the operation.

Shortly after the reports of the police operation surfaced, Baird Greene started trending on social media.

The reason Baird Greene became social media trend was because the Tucson house that was the site of a SWAT operation was reportedly owned by the man.

It was also reported that law enforcement asked a man and a woman to come out of the home,  Unconfirmed reports suggest the individuals may have been renting the property from Greene.

Pictures of a man named Manoj Saranathan were circulated with claims that he was  detained from the property because investigators identified him using technology that can recognize people from skull measurements.  However, authorities did not confirm the information.

While Greene’s name has circulated widely online due to the raid on his property, authorities have not named him a suspect. The FBI recently doubled the reward for information on Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts to $100,000.

Several discarded gloves found during the investigation, including some found roughly 2 miles from Guthrie’s home, were undergoing forensic analysis, the department said.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told Reuters that no proof of life has surfaced since the abduction but he was quick to add: “There’s not been any proof of death either.” He said his working presumption is that Nancy Guthrie remains alive.

“Hope is sometimes all we have, it really is,” he said. “I have a team of 400 officers from federal government, state government, local government. I have a community of a million people here who are invested in this, who want her back. Sometimes all we have to go on is hope. I’m not going to kill that.”

Meanwhile, speculation about the identity and whereabouts of Nancy continue online. A large number of social media users are convinced that the abductors might be someone she knew or someone in her circle.

Some people shared Nancy’s old social media posts against US President Donald Trump as they criticized the government’s failure to recover her.

Duke of Edinburgh puts security on edge and impresses everyone

The Duke of Edinburgh visited Farnham on 12 February, marking the town’s fifth anniversary as England’s first World Craft Town packed full of heritage.

The Duke began at the University for the Creative Arts, which is proudly celebrating 170 years of championing practice-led arts education.

He tried glassblowing that had his security team nervously peering at furnaces. Despite the tense atmosphere, the royal impressed tutor Laura Quinn with his flair.

As a keepsake, he received a teardrop shaped glass vase mirroring his own creation, alongside artwork from student Ella Stevenson.

Surrounded by historic kilns and working studios, the Duke met makers whose craftsmanship has helped cement Farnham’s reputation on the global stage.

With the presence of Professor Aftab Gharda, Regional Director of the World Crafts Council, the celebrations reflected not only local pride but growing global opportunity for creative community.

The visit concluded with a plaque unveiling and a rousing call from Edward for the town to “keep up its good work.”

Following the engagement, Farnham Pottery took to Instagram to publicly thank the Duke for his visit.

After being invited to bat, New Zealand set a 176-run target for South Africa in the 24th group match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on Saturday.

A collective batting effort helped New Zealand accumulate a formidable total against South Africa despite Marco Jansen’s four-wicket haul.

The Blackcaps finished at 175/7 in their 20 overs, courtesy of a 74-run partnership between Mark Chapman and Daryl Mitchell.

The Blackcaps got off to a spirited start as their in-form opening pair of Finn Allen and Tim Seifert raised 33 runs in 3.2 overs before Jansen gave South Africa their first breakthrough by dismissing the latter, who made 13 off nine deliveries with the help of one six and a four.

Allen then shared a brief 24-run partnership with Rachin Ravindra (13) before both fell victim to Jansen in the sixth over, bringing the total down to 58/3.

The right-handed opener remained a notable run-getter for New Zealand, scoring a 17-ball 31, laced with four fours and two sixes.

New Zealand then suffered another setback in the next over when Keshav Maharaj cleaned up Glenn Phillips (one) and thus slipped further to 64/4.

Following the slump, Chapman and Mitchell launched a recovery by putting together 74 runs for the fifth wicket before both perished in quick succession.

Chapman remained the top-scorer for New Zealand with a 26-ball 48, studded with six fours and two sixes, while Mitchell made 32 off 24 deliveries, comprising two fours and a six.

Experienced all-rounder James Neesham then added valuable runs at the backend with an unbeaten 23-run cameo, coming off 15 deliveries and featuring three boundaries.

Jansen was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa, taking four wickets for 40 runs in his four overs, while Lungi Ngidi, Corbin Bosch and Maharaj made one scalp apiece.

World Curling finds no violations after cheating allegations rock Canada-Sweden curling match

World Curling has addressed the cheating allegations that rocked Friday night’s round-robin game between Canada and Sweden, concluding that “no violations were recorded” during the umpires’ observations that followed the claims.

Tensions flared when Sweden’s Oskar Eriksson accused Canada’s Marc Kennedy of double-touching the stone. Videos shared online appeared to show Kennedy touching the stone with an extended finger after he released the handle.

The two opponents exchanged words when Eriksson said, “Maybe it’s okay touching the rock after the hog line, I don’t know.”

Kennedy then fired back, “Who’s doing it? I haven’t done it once, you can f— off.”

The two continued to exchange words, but it was Kennedy who used profanities to express his displeasure with the accusations.

“Come on Oskar, just f— off.”

World Curling released a statement Saturday addressing the controversy – both the accusations and Kennedy’s sportsmanship.

“Game Umpires are situated at the end of each sheet and physically cannot see every delivery infraction. However, when they are made aware of delivery issues, game umpires are positioned to observe the delivery for three ends. During this period of observation in the Friday evening game, there were no violations recorded,” the statement began, noting that video replay is not used during games and an umpire’s call is final.

The sports governing body also addressed two rule concerns, including “double-touching” and touching the granite. According to the rules, players can retouch the handle multiple times, but “touching the handle after the hog line is not allowed and will result in the stone being removed from play.”

Additionally, the stone will be removed from play if the granite is touched at all during “forward motion.”

As a result of the allegations, World Curling said that two officials will be positioned to observe all deliveries beginning with Saturday’s games.

Canada was also issued a verbal warning from World Curling for Kennedy’s language during the game.

“During that meeting it was made clear to those officials that further inappropriate behavior, determined by rule R.19 would result in additional sanctions,” the statement read. According to the rule, Kennedy could face suspension if he commits another violation.

Mistake: Making too many deductions

One of the more glamorized benefits of running a business is getting to make deductions like dinners where business was conducted, business travel, a portion of your rent and more. These are pretty normal deductions for certain businesses, but if you have too many write-offs, it can raise some eyebrows — especially if it may not be considered a reasonable, ordinary expense for the type of business you run.

Deductions lower your taxable income and having too many of them can be seen as if you’re trying to claim personal expenses as business ones, or even trying to evade taxes.

Mistake: Claiming too many losses

A loss is when your business’ expenses and deductions are greater than its gross income. Losses are normal for a business, especially new ones. However, claiming a loss every single year can raise some flags around the legitimacy of your business.

It calls into question whether your business expenses are truly ordinary and necessary expenses, or whether you’re just trying to offset your personal tax bill by claiming business losses.

After too many losses, the IRS may consider your business a hobby and you won’t be allowed to claim deductions for it.

Mistake: Incorrectly reporting your income

The IRS cross-references many income documents (including 1099s, bank statements and other forms), so they’ll know if there are any discrepancies between what you report as your income and what your income actually was. These discrepancies may lead to an audit.

Underreporting business income is a common mistake and sometimes it’s not even done intentionally. Sometimes, you may forget about income from freelance or one-off gigs. Other times, you may think it’s fine to just estimate or round up or down on your income but when it comes to your taxes, you need to provide exact numbers.

FAQs

How much should I set aside for taxes in my business?

Your exact tax bill depends on many unique factors, but experts suggest setting aside at least 25% of net profits for taxes.

What kinds of taxes do small businesses pay?

There are several taxes you may pay as a small business including federal income tax, payroll taxes and even a self-employment tax, but for a more accurate idea of what you will personally be responsible for, work with a certified tax professional.

NBA All-Star 2026: Live updates, highlights through the weekend

The 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend has arrived with festivities occurring throughout Los Angeles.

The league’s best players will come together for a record seventh NBA All-Star Game on Sunday at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. This year marks the 75th annual All-Star Game — and it will be unlike any other.

The L.A. area last hosted the event-filled weekend in 2018.

Two teams of U.S. players will face one World team in a round-robin tournament with four 12-minute games. Each team has a minimum of eight players. Team A will play Team B in Game 1, and the winning team will meet Team C. The loser of Game 1 will face Team C in the penultimate game. The sides with the top two records will match up in the championship.

All-Star Weekend tipped off Friday with the celebrity game at the Kia Forum in Inglewood. The Rising Stars followed at Intuit Dome with Team Vince defeating Team Melo to win the championship in a highly competitive game. The HBCU Classic between Hampton and North Carolina A&T’s men’s basketball teams ended the night at Kia Forum.

Saturday night features the 3-point and dunk contests, as well as the return of the Shooting Stars competition that will include four NBA alums — Richard Hamilton, Allan Houston, Corey Maggette and Ron Harper Sr.

We’ll have all the highlights and best moments from the weekend below.
