Angelina Jolie ‘furious’ with Brad Pitt over daughter’s milestone
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are clashing once again and this time it is over their daughter Zahara Jolie’s graduation from Spelman College.
Pitt has been accused of missing the milestone event and failing to even congratulate Zahara, according to Radar Online. However, the source noted that the actor is “upset” as he says “he was shut out and not even told when it was happening.”
“Angelina’s response is to paint him as the villain for not reaching out,” an insider said.
Jolie reportedly believes that Pitt “should have been aware that this is her graduation year and made an effort to show up for her.”
“[But] when you’ve made clear that you’re pushing him away from the children, a reasonable person cannot then complain that he’s not involved in their lives,” the source says.
On the other hand, Pitt feels like whatever he does is always “twisted against him.”
“He’s tried reaching out. He’s tried staying respectful. But every gesture gets filtered through Angelina’s narrative,” an insider shared.
It is pertinent to mention that Angelina Jolie reportedly attended the graduation alongside several of Zahara’s siblings. This has sparked another war between the ex-couple. Notably, their children are said to be begging their parents to make peace before Jolie skips the country.
A source said, “This has been horribly painful for all involved. No child wants to see their parents fight like this.”
“They’re fiercely protective of their mom so whenever there’s any sort of conflict, even over something relatively minor, they typically back her,” the source added of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s six kids: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne.
Jacob Elordi, Jenna Ortega score major Oscars honour with Academy invite
Jacob Elordi, Jenna Ortega and Teyana Taylor have reached a major career milestone in their careers after receiving invitations to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The Academy announced that 529 people from the film industry got selected for this year’s invitation list.
So if they accept, they will become members and get the chance to vote for future Oscar winners.
The list includes some of Hollywood’s biggest rising stars. Elordi, Ortega and Taylor, actors Jon Bernthal, Julia Garner, Josh O’Connor, Simu Liu, Bill Skarsgård, Paddy Considine and Stephen Fry were also invited.
The Academy said that this year’s group include 95 Oscar nominees, 21 Oscar winners and three people who received Scientific and Technical Awards.
In a joint statement, Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor praised the invitees for their work in film.
“We are delighted to invite this remarkable group of film artists and professionals from around the world to join the Academy,” they said.
The organisation, however, also highlighted the efforts to bring in members from different backgrounds.
According to the Academy, 42 percent of the are women, 56 percent come from underrepresented communities and 53 percent are from countries and territories outside United States.
In the city of Catia La Mar on Venezuela’s coast, Yilsmaris Blanco stared in shock at the scenes of devastation early Thursday after powerful twin earthquakes levelled dozens of buildings.
“It was terrible. Everything, everything collapsed,” the 39-year-old woman told AFP.
“We thank God because… we’re alive, but there are people right now suffering with their relatives buried, with their relatives crushed and they can’t get them out.”
Two massive earthquakes, of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, struck areas west of the capital Caracas on Wednesday evening, killing at least 164 people and injuring nearly 1,000, according to interim leader Delcy Rodriguez.
Authorities have yet to provide a figure for those missing, as reports flooded in from across the country of people trapped under rubble.

The northern region of La Guaira, facing the Caribbean, was hit hardest.
The government’s initial toll does not include data from La Guaira — designated a “disaster area” — which is also home to the capital’s international airport.
“We have nothing, right now we have nothing, not even the strength or the courage to go in there, just imagine,” said Larry Rojas, 49, standing in front of a collapsed building where his family was trapped.
Rojas was among the thousands of affected residents in a Catia La Mar neighbourhood with nearly 200 housing towers.
Some of those buildings showed large cracks and fallen walls, while dozens of others were completely reduced to rubble, according to AFP reporters.
There was no electricity in much of the area, and dozens of residents spent the night in the streets, fearful of aftershocks.

“There are survivors down there,” said Lisbeth Vasquez, a resident who managed to get out with her family from one of the fallen buildings.
‘What we need is help’
In the darkness, dozens of rescuers worked among the rubble while authorities kept a close eye as citizens shouted the names of missing loved ones.
AFP reporters saw the bodies of a man and a woman placed in the back of a pickup truck.
A well-known pharmacy in Catia La Mar was left with its glass doors shattered and its shelves empty, though authorities could not confirm if looting took place.
“What we need is help, above all technical help,” said Jose Pacheco, operations chief of the United Rescue Group of Venezuela.
“The teams that are in Caracas who know what (tools) to use and can come help here in La Guaira, they should come.”

His voice breaking, Pacheco, who has three decades of experience, said he had never seen anything like it.
“You can see the structures as they are, like this one here that is totally collapsed,” the 52-year-old said, counting around 14 damaged structures around him.
‘All of a sudden’
La Guaira resident Antonio Bermudez was in his living room when the shaking began “all of a sudden.”
“I started to move, I looked for shelter under a column. I was between my room and the shower. It shook harder and harder,” the 45-year-old recalled.
“I held onto the wall and the building started to come down,” Bermudez said, sitting against a wall in the street as he tried to adjust a leg he could not move after a slab fell on it.

Some residents ran through the streets with flashlights, while emergency vehicles briefly lit up the roads.
“We don’t have water, we’re dying of thirst. We go into a structure and we’re afraid it will collapse too,” Rojas said.
“Really, we need someone to help us, to send machinery. That’s what we need to get into the buildings that have collapsed.”
Former multi-weight world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather’s planned exhibition against Greek kickboxing star Mike Zambidis in Athens on Saturday is off, according to federal court filings obtained by ESPN.
The pay-per-view event was to be held at the Telekon Center at the OAKA Olympic Complex in Athens.
Events company CSI, which is suing Mayweather in connection with planned bouts against Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao, had sought an injunction in the Southern District Court of New York to prevent the Zambidis exhibition.
In a letter to the court, ESPN reported, attorney Melissa Glass said the Mayweather-Zambidis event will no longer proceed because uncertainty over its status “effectively stopped any promotion or distribution plans for the event and halted ticket sales.”
She said the bout against the 45-year-old Zambidis, an 18-time world champion best known for his career in K-1 MAX, could be rescheduled.
CSI sued Mayweather last week seeking to recover at least $4.65 million the company says it paid the fighter for exclusive rights to promote the planned bouts against Tyson and Pacquiao.
Mayweather, 49, retired from boxing in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record.
He has appeared in exhibition bouts since then, but a planned exhibition late last year against former heavyweight world champion Tyson never materialized and plans for a rematch with Filipino icon Pacquiao, announced by Netflix for September, is shrouded by uncertainty.
That bout, announced for the Sphere in Las Vegas, would have rematched the fighters in the top moneyspinner in boxing history.
But it apparently foundered after Mayweather said the fight would be an exhibition while Pacquiao said he signed for an official bout against the American.
The Sphere has since booked a concert by the Eagles for September 19, the planned Pacquiao versus Mayweather date.
The United States men’s national team opened its 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with a commanding 4-1 rout of Paraguay behind two goals from Folarin Balogun, and after taking care of Australia, the team has one match left in the group stage against Turkey on Thursday night.
The Americans took care of Australia last week 2-0 to keep their strong start rolling. The victory clinched a knockout-round berth for Team USA. The USMNT will look to carry its momentum into their match against Turkey as the Stars and Stripes return to Los Angeles Stadium.

Australia began its World Cup run with a win over Turkey before suffering a setback against the U.S. The Australians will meet Paraguay on Thursday in a match featuring two teams already beaten by the Americans during the group stage.
Late last month, the Americans defeated Senegal, 3-2, in a World Cup tuneup match.

Darden Restaurants on Thursday reported mixed quarterly results as same-store sales growth at the company’s fine-dining restaurants and Olive Garden fell short of expectations.
The company’s forecast for its fiscal 2027 earnings and revenue also came on the lower end of Wall Street’s projections.
Shares of the company fell more than 1% in morning trading.
Here’s what the company reported for its fiscal fourth quarter ended May 31 compared with what Wall Street was expecting, based on a survey of analysts by LSEG:
Earnings per share: $3.66 adjusted vs. $3.63 expected
Revenue: $3.72 billion vs. $3.73 billion expected
Darden reported net income of $404.9 million, or $3.51 per share, up from $303.8 million, or $2.58 per share, a year earlier.
Excluding costs of restaurant closures and other items, the company earned $3.66 per share.
Net salesclimbed 13.7% to $3.72 billion, boosted by the inclusion of an extra week during the fiscal year.
Across all of Darden’s restaurants, same-store sales rose 4.6%, topping expectations of 4.1% growth based on StreetAccount estimates.
“Consumer spending remains pretty resilient overall,” Darden CEO Rick Cardenas said on the company’s earnings conference call. “The mood with consumers is still a little cautious, but as we’ve said a couple of times before, the weaker consumer sentiment hasn’t necessarily translated into reduced spending.”
He added that some of Darden’s casual-dining brands saw an increase in visits from all income cohorts, perhaps lifted by tax refunds. Traffic from consumers under the age of 35 weakened slightly, however.
LongHorn Steakhouse led the portfolio with same-store sales growth of 9.5%, beating StreetAccount projections of 7.1%. The chain has overtaken Olive Garden to become Darden’s top performer, although it still accounts for less of the company’s overall sales.
The fourth quarter marked the annual return of LongHorn’s lamb chops. Darden executives said the chain bought more lamb than the previous year, yet sold out in half the time.
For its part, Olive Garden saw same-store sales grow 2.4% in the quarter, missing expectations of 3.2% growth.
Darden’s fine-dining segment reported same-store sales growth of 1.9%, falling short of StreetAccount estimates of 3.1%. The division includes The Capital Grille and Ruth’s Chris.
The company’s “other business” segment saw same-store sales rise 4.6%, higher than the 3% projected by analysts. The division includes a handful of smaller restaurant chains, like Yard House and Chuy’s.
Looking ahead to the next fiscal year, Darden is projecting total sales of $13.60 billion to $13.75 billion and net earnings per share from continuing operations in a range of $11.10 to $11.35. Wall Street is expecting the company to report fiscal 2027 revenue of $13.72 billion and earnings per share of $11.40.
“We’re not expecting any material change to industry performance,” Darden CFO Raj Vennam said on the call.
Darden is also forecasting that it will report same-store sales growth of 2.5% to 3.5% for fiscal 2027 and open between 75 and 80 new locations. Moreover, 11 of its Bahama Breeze restaurants will be converted into locations for its other brands; Darden announced in February that it was winding down the struggling Caribbean-inspired chain.

The Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation measure, the Personal Consumption Expenditures price index, rose 0.4 percent in May, the Bureau of Economic Analysis said Thursday. Prices were up 4.1 percent from a year earlier, the fastest annual inflation in more than three years.
The recent jump in inflation has been driven by high oil prices, which have receded since the U.S. and Iran reached a deal to end their war, at least for now, and to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Many forecasters believe that May could turn out to be the peak for inflation for the year.
But the data on Thursday showed that the inflation problem goes beyond energy. The so-called core measure, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, rose 0.3 percent in May and was up 3.4 percent from a year earlier — a sign that the pickup in inflation isn’t limited to the categories directly affected by the war.
The pickup in prices poses a challenge for the Fed and its new chairman, Kevin M. Warsh, who is under pressure from President Trump to lower interest rates. At their meeting this month, about half of Fed officials indicated that they instead expected to raise rates by the end of the year, and investors have become increasingly convinced the central bank will have to move to rein in inflation.
“This is not a comfortable report for Fed officials,” Omair Sharif, founder of Inflation Insights, a forecasting firm, wrote in a note to clients on Thursday.
At the same time, the data released Thursday showed that consumers remain resilient in the face of high prices. Consumer spending rose 0.7 percent in May, easily outpacing the increase in prices. Personal income also rose 0.7 percent, suggesting the strong labor market is helping households keep up with higher prices.
