Lucy Lui has promised her audience that the anticipated The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be “highly entertaining.”
The 57-year-old actress plays an undisclosed role in the sequel and has indicated that fans will be in for a treat when the movie is released next month.
Liu told PEOPLE magazine, “It’s going to be highly entertaining. It’s going to give you all the things, all the eye candy, and it’s going to show that these characters have grown and changed.”
She further mentioned, “I think that’s what people want to see. They want to know 20 years later what’s different, because you don’t want to get served the same thing.”
The Elementary star’s part in the picture hasn’t been revealed publicly or shown in any trailers so far, and she is “looking forward” to audiences discovering her “mystery role.”
“I think that’s what’s so special about it. I think everyone’s looking forward to it,” Liu said of her unrevealed role.
The actress also explained that she is a “very big fan” of the original 2006 The Devil Wears Prada movie and described getting the chance to work with co-stars Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway as “almost like a reverie”.
She said: “Working with Annie and Meryl together in a scene was just amazing. (It was like) being plopped into someone else’s sequel, as opposed to your own that you’re in.”
The original movie is based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Lauren Weisberger, which followed Hathaway as an aspiring journalist who starts working for formidable Runway magazine boss Miranda Priestly (Streep).
The sequel is believed to take up the story as Priestly deals with issues relating to the decline in magazine publishing and faces off with her former assistant Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), who is now a high-powered executive at a luxury fashion group in control of much-needed advertising revenue that could save the publication.
