Following a fantastic debut at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, Delhi-based connoisseur and social media personality Shalini Passi got candid about her diet and eating habits. She mentioned how she follows the Ayurvedic diet, under which she only consumes raw vegetables. In the same interview, she talked about how she feels ‘bad’ for her Fabulous Lives Vs Bollywood Wives co-stars for ‘consuming carbs, sugar, wine, drinking, smoking, and not waking up on time.’

In a conversation with BBC Asian Network, Shalini Passi talked about how she follows an Ayurvedic diet that includes raw vegetables and various Ayurvedic spices and powders. She mentioned that she does not eat dal chawal, but she religiously follows her diet. She said, “My friends would tell me that being in the media is a lot, you will not be able to handle it. They would say, ‘Don’t say anything, don’t have your soups, don’t have your juices… I said I am not going to lie and say I am having dal-chawal (dal and rice).’ I don’t eat dal-chawal. My diet is Ayurvedic. I have raw foods till 6 pm, which is in our culture. I have 10-12 different kinds of vegetables throughout the day. I also include ghee and all the Ayurvedic spices and powders. I feel my lifestyle is for me to be healthy and functional.”

Talking about her co-stars from Fabulous Lives Vs Bollywood Wives, Shalini mentioned that she feels ‘bad’ for them. She continued, “I actually feel bad for them because if they are consuming carbs, sugar, wine, drinking, smoking, and not waking up on time, I feel bad for them. If they reach out to me for help… I can tell them what to do, but it’s essentially my opinion against theirs… I have my lifestyle, which works for me, and they have theirs.”

What Is The Ayurvedic Diet?

An Ayurvedic diet is a holistic approach to eating that comes from Ayurveda. Unlike typical diet plans that focus solely on calories, nutrients, or weight loss, the Ayurvedic diet is deeply personalised,  it’s designed to balance your mind, body, and spirit by aligning your food choices with your body type (dosha), digestion, and seasonal changes. It is believed that this diet promotes better digestion and gut health, encourages intuitive and mindful eating, helps to reduce inflammation and stress, and balances energy levels and emotional well-being.
