Alia Bhatt Pays Ode To Rekha In A Tarun Tahiliani Saree At Umrao Jaan Screening

Alia Bhatt exudes elegance in a classic fluid saree paired with a fluted blouse featuring a raffia detailed collar.

Alia Bhatt paid homage to the classic saree Rekha wore in the iconic film Silsila. Alia’s drape, envisioned by celebrity fashion stylist Rhea Kapoor, was brought to life by couturier Tarun Tahiliani.

Alia donned the celebratory look for the special screening of Rekha’s movie Umrao Jaan in Mumbai. Rooted in tradition yet unmistakably modern, the classic fluid Tarun Tahiliani saree was paired with a fluted blouse featuring raffia detailing on the collar. The style draws inspiration from the saree Rekha wore in the film Silsila. Rhea posted an image of Rekha in the pink saree on Instagram.

The blouse added a textural counterpoint, blending artisanal craftsmanship with contemporary structure. Alia Bhatt looked effortlessly graceful in the saree, and we love how she carried it off on the red carpet. Alia completed her alluring look with a pair of feather-inspired sparkling earrings and a satin pleated pink clutch.

Stylists are the backbone of the fashion industry, and Rhea and her team, including Sanya Kapoor, who assisted her on this look, ensured the style honoured the classic while adding their own creative aesthetic to Alia’s style.

The cascading hairstyle and kohl-laden eyes spoke the narrative of yesteryears. Alia’s stunning makeup was done by celebrity makeup artiste Puneet B Saini. Puneet took to Instagram and shared a heartfelt note below the post. She wrote: “Some beauties are born of the moment. Others echo through time.
