Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex and mother of two children just got her private chat leaked a few hours ago, and it comes from Prince Archie’s Year 3 chat and the world is in a frenzy.

However, one thing that many may have missed is pretty much on the nose—and that thing is her preference to use the letter ‘M’ rather than her full name.

The same letter is also used in her royal monogram (which is different from a Coat of Arms).

The two blurred names include messages that read, Welcome to Meghan who has Archie joining tomo.”

The message that followed simply said “Welcome!!” followed shortly by “M” writing, “Hi moms! Thanks for the warm welcome [heart emoji] So happy to be a part of this community xx”.

While this can be disputed as just using her first name. In the past Meghan faced a lot of backlash for continuing to use her HRH in gift baskets for example—all the while making mocking reiterations of her curtesy to the Queen for example or accusing them of unconscious bias and racism.

What is Meghan Markle’s Monogram?

Often called a royal cypher, it was released atop a Kensington Palace press release and is a simple cursive ‘M’ with a crown topping it up, and is similar to Harry’s.

What is Meghan Markle’s Coat of Arms?

For those unversed, It is made for every royal bride, and went live on May 25th 2018 with an explanatory announcement. “The blue background of the shield represents the Pacific Ocean off the California coast, while the two golden rays across the shield are symbolic of the sunshine of The Duchess’s home state. The three quills represent communication and the power of words. Beneath the shield on the grass sits a collection of golden poppies, California’s state flower, and wintersweet, which grows at Kensington Palace.”

As for why it was made in the first place, the website explained that too. According to the statement, “It is customary for Supporters of the shield to be assigned to Members of the Royal Family, and for wives of Members of the Royal Family to have one of their husband’s Supporters and one relating to themselves. The Supporter relating to The Duchess of Sussex is a songbird with wings elevated as if flying and an open beak, which with the quill represents the power of communication.”

Difference Between Coat of Arms & Royal Monogram?

The Coat of Arms is reserved for official correspondences, and printed on legislation passed by Parliament or royals.

Whereas a royal monogram is a personal signature brand and is usually embossed onto her paper, or even on wax envelope seals.
