Monarchy’s secret weapon has been deployed as the royal family once again lands in a row with the Sussexes.
Buckingham Palace announced a crucial visit, from 14–19 September, which will celebrate the warm and longstanding ties between Zambia and the United Kingdom
The Duchess of Edinburgh is flying to Zambia for a five-day visit to Zambia at the behest of King Charles to strengthen the relations between the two nations and promote key social engagements. Sophie will undertake a series of engagements in Lusaka, Lower Zambezi and Livingstone with a focus on gender equality and education to environmental conservation and global health.
Given her exceptional skills in diplomacy and eloquent speech, Sophie, as Global Ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, will also be meeting key figures and communities in a bid to continue her work in preventing avoidable blindness with charities Orbis and Sightsavers.
One of the most anticipated part of the visit is considered to be a visit to the magnificent Victoria Falls. She will meet with President Hichilema, and Mosi-oa-Tunya (Victoria Falls) where she will lay a posy at the WWI memorial.
The announcement comes at the heels of growing friction between the Palace and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex following their return to Britain.
Charles had publicly notified Harry and Meghan that would be “private citizens” in a bid to avoid the work of royals being overshadowed by the Sussexes. However, all that seemed to have only aimed more spotlight on the matter.
It is understood that Sophie, who is dubbed as Charles’s ‘secret weapon’ in his reign, would bring attention back to meaningful work.
