Prince Edward, one of Firm’s most trusted royals when it comes diplomacy, is undertaking an important task at the behest of King Charles, as chaos appear to have unleashed between the royals and the Sussexes.
According to the royal court circular, the Duke of Edinburgh had arrived in in Geneva, Switzerland, on September 6, 2026, for an official visit. He was received by Mr Jamie Hamill (Deputy Head of Mission, United Kingdom Mission to the United Nations, the World Trade Organisation and other organisations in Geneva).
His itinerary involves diplomatic engagements but with a focus on his role as the Chairman of Trustees for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation. It is a role bestowed to Edward by his brother the King, and it had previously belonged to their late father, Prince Philip.
Edward was praised for his work that he has been doing, which for now seems to be overshadowed by the back-and-forth between the Palace and the Sussexes.
“On the occasion of the visit to Lausanne of HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, we exchanged around the Swiss system of initial vocational training,” Swiss politician Guy Parmelin said of the royal for his efforts.
“Switzerland and the United Kingdom are two countries united by the same ambition: to give young people the best prospects for the future.”
The high praise from Guy comes at the heels of a letter, which was issued to Harry and Meghan by King Charles, clarifying their status with the royal family. It reaffirmed that the couple remains “private citizens” despite their UK return.
The letter had “surprised” the Sussexes as a spokesperson responded that they were never given a heads-up. It has sparked concerns that the reconciliation may have been affected by the latest events.
