According to sources cited by Rob Shutter, Taylor Swift did not contact Lively on her birthday, adding another painful chapter to speculation surrounding the former best friends’ fractured relationship.
“Blake was absolutely hoping Taylor would reach out,” a source said. “A text. Flowers. Even two words: ‘Happy birthday.’ Nothing came. That silence said everything.”
Reynolds made sure his wife wasn’t short on public birthday love, describing Lively as “courageous,” “deeply kind” and the “very best human” he knows.
But insiders claim Swift’s silence was the detail Lively couldn’t simply brush aside.
The pair were once famously close. Swift even used the names of Lively and Reynolds’ daughters in her song “betty,” making their reported fallout all the more striking.
