Street Style Look of the Week: Hiking Pants for an Urban Explorer

“I never find a shirt new that I really like,” Anders Vogt, 56, said of his preference for shopping secondhand and vintage for button-ups. “I like things when I can see what it’s like when it’s been worn for a year.”

When I spotted him walking with a friend on a Friday in August, Vogt, who works as a psychotherapist, had styled his shirt with a pair of Fjallraven hiking pants, a long navy jacket and leather barefoot shoes, affecting a rugged style that stood in contrast to what one normally sees on the streets of Copenhagen. Of the pants, he said owned several pairs in “more or less” the same style. “I’m someone who actually doesn’t think a lot about what I wear,” he said. “I pick something and I’m like, Yeah, that fits in my wardrobe. So anything goes.”

His hat and leather bag both made him stand out in a busy crowd in the city’s center. He explained that the accessories were acquired in Italy on separate trips: the bag in Rome after spotting (but not buying) it in a different city, and his hat on a rainy day in the northern coastal town of Rapallo. “It was love at first sight,” he said.
