ISLAMABAD: Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide arrived in Pakistan on Thursday for a two-day official visit, marking the highest-level engagement between Pakistan and Norway in a decade.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received FM Eide at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after his arrival in Islamabad, the Foreign Office said in a statement.
Earlier, the Norwegian top diplomat was received at Islamabad airport by Additional Foreign Secretary (Europe) Ambassador Ayesha Ali.
Eide will remain in Pakistan from August 13 to 14 as part of his official visit.
Eide is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of DPM Dar. During the visit, the two leaders will hold delegation-level talks covering the full spectrum of Pakistan-Norway relations.
The discussions will focus on expanding bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, climate change, renewable energy, education and people-to-people contacts. The two sides will also exchange views on important regional and international developments.
According to the FO, the visit builds on sustained high-level engagement between the two countries, including telephone conversations between DPM Dar and FM Eide in March and April 2026.
Norway’s State Secretary Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik also visited Islamabad in May this year.
The FO said Eide’s visit would provide an opportunity to further strengthen the longstanding and cordial relations between Pakistan and Norway while exploring new avenues of mutually beneficial cooperation.
