Tom Holland shared which pop star he was obsessed with as a kid.
The Spider-Man: Brand New Day star has revealed that Justin Bieber was his childhood celebrity obsession.
He even recalled how the pop star’s Baby music video inspired him to copy his hairstyle when he was around 11 or 12.
The revelation came during a pop quiz segment on Celebrity Substitute, the GMA/YouTube digital series hosted by Julian Shapiro-Barnum, where Zendaya’s husband appeared as a guest “substitute teacher” and taught stunts to elementary school students at a New York public school.
Asked about the celebrity he was obsessed with growing up, Holland, 30, named Bieber, 32, and fondly remembered the impact the singer had on him as a child.
“I thought he was the coolest guy I had ever seen in my life,” The Odyssey actor said.
He explained that after watching the music video for Bieber’s 2010 hit song when he was “probably about 11 years old, maybe 12” he attempted to copy the singer’s signature hairstyle.
“I tried to do my hair like his. And I don’t have hair like his, so it didn’t really work,” the British actor joked.
The anecdote offers a glimpse into Holland’s childhood pop-culture influences and a reminder that even the actor behind one of Hollywood’s biggest superheroes once had his own celebrity idol.
