Just like Prince George, James, Earl of Wessex, is preparing to enter a new chapter of his life as the young royal approaches a major milestone that could shape his future.
The 18-year-old son of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh is among thousands of students across the UK awaiting theixr A-level results on August 13 at Radley College in Oxfordshire.
James’s parents, Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie, will no doubt be eager to celebrate the moment with him, although their family plans may be slightly limited by royal duties.
Sophie and Edward are scheduled to attend the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham on the same day before travelling to Edinburgh the following morning.
The engagement is not expected to take up the entire day, allowing James time to mark the occasion with friends and family once he receives his results.
The young Earl has grown up largely away from the spotlight, much like his sister Lady Louise Windsor, and details about his future plans are likely to remain private until the family is ready to share them.
The big question now is whether James will follow a familiar royal tradition and take a gap year before continuing his education.
Several members of the Royal Family, including Prince William, have taken time away from formal studies to travel, gain experience and explore their interests before university.

Lady Louise, who received her A-level results in 2022, later chose the University of St Andrews for her studies – the same Scottish university where Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, first met.
