MGK has opened up about a frightening moment when he feared he was dying after taking what he described as “too much cocaine.”
Speaking on The Set List podcast with Carter Gregory, the rapper, whose real name is Colson Baker, recalled feeling his heart racing before reaching for a photo of his daughter, Casie.
“My heart was about to stop,” MGK said. “Too much cocaine. I could just feel it. My heart was palpitating crazily.”
The 36-year-old said he felt himself losing consciousness and decided he wanted the last thing he saw to be his daughter’s face.
“I was scrambling to take whatever strength I could summon… to open my phone and look at her face,” he said. “When I did that, I was like, ‘Oh, I can’t go. I can’t go.'”
MGK also revealed that, at the time, he had read an astrological prediction that warned, “You could die on this day.”
Reflecting on the experience, he said he has escaped death several times, referencing lyrics from his song Fix Ur Face.
The musician admitted there are still days when he struggles, saying there are moments when he “doesn’t want to be here anymore.” However, he said his two children give him a reason to keep going.
“With what I want to do while I’m here, I haven’t done near enough,” he said. “I feel like I’m only on chapter three, and I don’t know any good book that ends on the third chapter.”
MGK shares 17-year-old daughter Casie with ex-partner Emma Cannon and 16-month-old daughter Saga Blade with actress Megan Fox.
