Coronation Street star reveals hilarious Prince Harry mistake his son finally outgrew

Coronation Street star Mikey North has revealed that his son spent years believing the actor was actually the Duke of Sussex.

North, who has played Gary Windass on the long-running ITV drama for nearly two decades, recalled the amusing mix-up during a recent interview.

His son Archie, now nine, would excitedly point at the television whenever Prince Harry appeared, confidently announcing: “Daddy!”

The actor admitted the misunderstanding lasted for several years before his son finally realised the famous royal and his father were, in fact, two different people.

His confusion is perhaps understandable. North’s trademark ginger hair bears more than a passing resemblance to Prince Harry’s, creating an uncanny likeness that clearly convinced his young son.

His eldest child also happens to share the same first name as Prince Harry’s son, Prince Archie.

Having portrayed Gary Windass for 18 years, he has watched the character transform from a troubled teenager into one of Weatherfield’s most complex figures.

North has thrown himself into demanding action scenes, earning a collection of real-life injuries along the way.

Over the years he has broken bones, fractured a rib during a stunt and even scarred his hand after accidentally striking a wall instead of a fellow actor during a fight sequence.

Despite the mishaps, he admits those scenes remain his favourite part of the job, joking that he is really a frustrated stuntman rather than an actor.

Away from the cameras, North enjoys a quieter family life with his wife, Rachael, and their two children.
