Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took a powerful stance on an important issue concerning children following a legal ruling that took place earlier this year over privacy and protection.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been vocal about how big companies need to be held accountable for how unsafe online spaces have been for young children.
After the latest update from Minnesota where a first-in-the-nation ban on AI “nudification” apps and software” was passed by a unanimous vote, the couple brought attention to take an action on State level.
“Archewell Philanthropies applauds leadership taking the tech-fuelled sexualisation of women and children seriously and doing all they can to keep society safe,” the statement read.
“Still more bills are sitting, waiting to be prioritised as the need for protection grows,” it continued. “For example, the Defiance Act would create a civil right of action for survivors of nonconsensual deepfakes. It has been passed by the Senate twice but has yet to make it to a vote on the House floor.”
It further added, “This begs the question: why the delay? The answer may lie in the deepest offense to families and children: the tech industry’s commitment to pushback on these bills to protect their bottom line.”
They also called out “the trillionaire leader of the tech company responsible for X’s Grok” for his attempt to block the law from going into place. The couple, who are doting parents of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, highlighted the issue with a jarring question, “Should our children pay the price while we wait to find out?”
