Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s self-designed bungalow ‘Nawab’ beautifully blends vintage charm with personal memories from his childhood in Budhana.

From theatre posters to a Romeo-and-Juliet-inspired balcony, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s home ‘Nawab’ is a soulful tribute to his roots and artistic journey

From sharing cramped quarters with multiple roommates in Mumbai’s Goregaon during his struggling years to now residing in a palatial bungalow, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s journey has come full circle. Five years ago, the acclaimed actor fulfilled a long-held dream by building his own three-storey mansion in Versova’s Yari Road, which he lovingly named ‘Nawab’ after his late father, Nawabuddin Siddiqui. The luxurious home is more than just bricks and mortar—it’s a heartfelt tribute to his childhood home in Budhana, Uttar Pradesh.

In a recent video tour shared on Nayandeep Rakshit’s YouTube channel, Nawazuddin welcomed viewers into his personal sanctuary, a space that reflects both his artistic soul and deep-rooted nostalgia.

Muted Tones, Theatre Posters, and a Splash of Red

Kicking off the tour in the living room, the space was a study in restraint, dominated by earthy tones like cream, beige, and warm browns. “I always envisioned an old-world charm—something that reminded me of colonial-era homes,” Nawazuddin said when asked about his design aesthetic. “People gift me art, but I rarely hang them unless they match the room’s palette. I prefer buying pieces that blend with the tone of the house.”

A bold pop of colour stood out in the form of a vivid red pool table. “I play occasionally, but it’s mostly for my guests,” he chuckled.

Adorning the walls were posters of iconic theatrical characters—Hamlet, Othello, Romeo—roles Nawazuddin once embodied during his time at the National School of Drama. “These remind me of my roots. I wanted the house to echo those NSD days. That hunger to learn, to stay grounded. You won’t find a single movie poster here,” he revealed.

Three Floors of Personal Passions

The house spans three levels, each tailored to different aspects of Nawazuddin’s personal and professional life. The ground floor features a spacious hall and a private mini-theatre with plush brown couches and a large screen. The room opens into a balcony that overlooks a serene green patch. “I love colourful flowers. That corner was inspired by the Romeo and Juliet balcony. I wanted it to feel like a piece of theatre,” he said with a smile.

Upstairs, his personal makeup room is designed like a traditional green room—wood-panelled flooring and walls, and a large mirror framed by vanity lights. “Whenever I have a shoot, I get ready here. It keeps me in the zone,” he shared.

He also revealed a compact home gym tucked away inside the house. “I’m not exactly a fitness buff, but I built it anyway,” he laughed.

In a touching moment, Nawazuddin pointed out a framed certificate—his daughter’s acting distinction from a London workshop. “She’s obsessed with acting,” he said proudly.

Where Memory Meets Mastery

True to its inspiration, the bungalow is dotted with vintage architectural features—arched doorways, carved wooden pillars, railings, and patterned flooring that harken back to his village home. The final part of the tour featured a grand staircase, the walls lined with his numerous awards and accolades—a quiet nod to his career journey.

However, Nawazuddin was quick to note, “I don’t work for trophies. But I am thankful to have received them.”

In every detail, from layout to lighting, ‘Nawab’ is not just a home—it’s a narrative. A space that reflects Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s artistry, humility, and enduring connection to his roots.
