Rakul Preet Singh isn’t one to settle for a basic workout. A regular at the gym and a vocal advocate of holistic fitness, the actor often shares snippets from her exercise routine that blend strength, balance, and flexibility. Her latest workout video is no exception, and this time, the focus is on stabilising muscles many of us overlook.
Taking to her Instagram, Rakul Preet Singh shared a video where she was seen balancing effortlessly on an aqua ball – a soft, water-filled stability trainer – as she performs a series of strength and control moves. Dressed in a bright yellow tank and green leggings, she demonstrates a single-leg squat on the unstable surface, engaging her core and deep stabilising muscles.
Sharing the video, Rakul wrote, “There are so many smaller muscles that we don’t work on while training. Strengthening these muscles is as important as training your bigger ones and lifting weights. When I started, I couldn’t balance even on a bosu. But now this small water ball is doable, still work in progress though. So next time you hit the gym, fire those small ones.”
Talking about her dedication to fitness, the actor said, “Fitness isn’t just about the body it’s how I clear my mind, channel my focus, and realign with my purpose. I eat clean, move with intent, and rest when my body asks for it. That balance of nourishment, movement, and stillness is what makes me glow. I don’t do it for appearances or social media; I do it because it makes me feel powerful, peaceful, and alive. Self-care, to me, is showing up on tough days, on good days, and every day in between with love, presence, and strength.”
Why Aqua Ball Workouts Matter
An aqua ball is a dynamic piece of fitness equipment filled with water, designed to challenge your body’s ability to stabilise itself. As the water shifts inside, your muscles must constantly adapt to the unpredictable movement, engaging core stabilisers, improving balance, and boosting neuromuscular coordination.
Training with an aqua ball can help correct imbalances, prevent injury, and enhance athletic performance. As it activates muscles you might not normally engage, especially around the hips, ankles, and spine, it’s a smart addition to any well-rounded fitness plan.
Aqua Ball vs. Bosu Ball: What’s The Difference?
While both the Aqua Ball and Bosu Ball challenge stability, they work differently. A Bosu ball has a fixed base with a half-dome surface, offering more predictability. It’s ideal for beginners, building balance and proprioception.
An aqua ball, on the other hand, is completely fluid and unpredictable. The sloshing water requires even greater control, making it a more advanced tool for targeting deeper stabilising muscles.
Rakul’s dedication is a reminder: fitness isn’t just about lifting heavy or running fast, it’s about refining control, improving movement, and constantly challenging your limits.
