Ekagrah Rohan Murty, the 17-month-old grandson of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, has emerged as one of India’s youngest millionaires, earning a total of Rs 10.65 crore in dividends from Infosys for the financial year ending March 2025.

The toddler, born in November 2023 in Bengaluru to Rohan Murthy and Aparna Krishnan, holds 15 lakh shares in Infosys — a 0.04 per cent stake in the IT giant. These shares, valued at over Rs 240 crore at the time of transfer, were gifted to Ekagrah by his grandfather when he was just four months old.

On Thursday, Infosys announced a final dividend of Rs 22 per share. Based on his shareholding, Ekagrah is set to receive Rs 3.3 crore from this latest payout. This adds to the Rs 7.35 crore he earned through interim dividends earlier this year, taking his total dividend earnings for the fiscal to Rs 10.65 crore.

Since receiving the shares, Infosys has declared three dividend payouts amounting to Rs 49 per share. Despite his age, Ekagrah now figures among the youngest high-earning shareholders in corporate India.

Ekagrah is the third grandchild of Narayana Murthy and noted author-philanthropist Sudha Murty. His cousins — Krishna and Anoushka — are the daughters of Akshata Murty and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Meanwhile, other members of the Murthy family are also set to benefit significantly from the latest dividend announcement. Akshata Murty, who holds 3.89 crore shares (1.04 per cent stake), will receive Rs 85.71 crore. Narayana Murthy will earn Rs 33.3 crore, while Sudha Murty will gain Rs 76 crore.

Infosys has set May 30 as the record date for the dividend, which will be paid out on June 30.

Founded in 1981 with a seed capital of just Rs 10,000, Infosys has grown into one of India’s most respected technology companies. Sudha Murty, widely recognised for her literary and philanthropic contributions, played a vital role in the company’s early days by supporting its founding with her personal savings. After leading the Infosys Foundation for over 25 years, she stepped down in 2021 but continues her charitable work through the family’s foundation. She was recently nominated to the Rajya Sabha in recognition of her contributions to society.
