Prince William’s charity polo match ditches donor for trying to sell access to him and Kate
Prince William’s charity polo match has terminated its link to a donor who allegedly promised access to him and Kate Middleton in return for donations.
Millionaire Minerva Mondejar Steiner, whose Mondejar Gallery was a sponsor of William’s Royal Charity Polo Cup, was accused of selling access to the Prince and Princess of Wales by The Sunday Times on June 28.
In the report, the publication shared a screenshot of an email sent by the foundation to a private networking group called A Small World.Â
The email offered them a “private audience” with the royal couple in exchange for a donation of $27,362 for the Royal Charity Polo Cup.
“As patron of the Mondejar Foundation, you’re invited to support their philanthropic work through a charitable donation, in return for which you will be welcomed to this prestigious occasion,” the email said, according to The Sunday Times.
“Hosted in the presence of members of the British Royal Family, and supported by the Mondejar Foundation, this highly exclusive gathering unites leading figures from philanthropy, fashion, the arts, and culture for a truly unforgettable day,” it continued.
Organizers of Prince William’s polo cup had entered into a sponsorship agreement with the Mondejar Gallery. Following the report, they took swift action to cut ties with the gallery.Â
