Taraji P. Henson is criticizing her fellow A-list artists who have attended the 2026 Met Gala sponsored Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos.
The annual fashion gala, also known as the biggest fashion night, has been under scrutiny for taking the Amazon founder and his wife, Lauren Sanchez, as co-chairs.
The Empire actress endorsed a social media post by Meredith Lynch titled “a warning for celebs,” in which she called out the celebrities attending the Bezos-backed event where they are not allowed to wear ICE Out pins.
Meredith said in the video that Bezos is “part of the reason we’re in this f****** mess.”
While acknowledging the fundraising nature of the event, Meredith noted it is “wild” to her that “this event is sponsored by Jeff Bezos, who has backed American President Donald Trump, who has slashed arts funding.”
In support of Meredith’s remarks, Taraji, who last attended the event in 2025, questioned the celebs joining the event, writing, “I am so confused by some ppl that are going. I am just like WTF ARE WE DOING!?!?!?!”
Later, Taraji, took to her Stories, reposted another post by UN as another take on Bezos, showing the billionaire’s $500 million yacht and “immigrant workers in Amazon warehouses, face precarious conditions, low wages, and high injury rates.”
The actress did not attend the 2026 Met Gala. Other A-listers who notably did not show up at the gala were Zendaya, Bella Hadid and Ariana Grande. Though the reason for their absence has not been revealed.
As per a report by CNN, ICE, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, “is playing a key role in the Trump administration’s plans to crack down on illegal immigration.”
