The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are proud parents of their two children, taking off on their paths in life.
While it is believed that neither Lady Louise, who marks her birthday on Sunday, nor 18-year-old Earl James of Wessex have plans to pursue a royal role, sources close to the royals have shared some insight into the matter.
They say that Lady Louise would follow in the footsteps of her mother if she were called upon to take on a royal engagement.

James is currently in university and Louise had been taking a gap year following her graduation from St Andrew’s University – a proud moment which was even commemorated by the Buckingham Palace.
Prince Edward, as brother to the monarch has been a dedicated working member of the family, but Duchess Sophie has exhibited exceptional skills in her royal role. She has been given key diplomatic tasks and has been a great asset for Charles.
“If there was a role for her, I think she would fulfil it brilliantly, a bit like Zara Phillips does at garden parties and Royal Ascot,” former Communications and Press Secretary to Queen Elizabeth II, Ailsa Anderson told HELLO!.
“She is dutiful, doesn’t make a fuss, is stoical, practical, and just gets on with it.”
Moreover, photographer James Whatling remarked that Louise, on her graduation day, had “spring in her stride”.
“Even though she knew there were cameras there, she shone. It felt like she was ready for the spotlight,” he said based on his experience working with the young royal.
