New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson is recovering after being hospitalised with what he described as an “unexpected and unusual medical emergency” involving a series of unexplained neurological symptoms.
In a statement posted on social media on Friday, November 6, the 24-year-old said the cause of his condition “remains unknown and unexplainable,” though extensive medical testing has produced “positive and reassuring” results.
Henderson revealed the symptoms have affected his strength, coordination, and some physical functions, and said he is working closely with specialists and physical therapists on his recovery.
“I am committed to doing everything necessary to return to full health. My health and long-term well-being remain my foremost priorities.”
Vrabel confirmed that Henderson will not play in Sunday’s game between the Patriots and Green Bay Packers, but was unwilling to set a timeframe in which the player might be back on the field. “We’ll care for him, listen to him, and do whatever we can to get him healthy,” Vrabel said. The head coach also mentioned that Henderson is a well-respected person inside the club and that even his wife, Kenzie, is taken care of.
Henderson, who is the second-round selection of the Patriots from Ohio State University in 2025, has run for 203 yards on 52 attempts and scored once in six games of the current season. Last week, Henderson did not play due to some kind of sickness, having not practised since Oct. 29.
In the previous season, as a rookie, Henderson became the leader in rushing statistics for the team by accumulating 911 yards and scoring nine times in 21 games, including playoffs, in which New England reached the Super Bowl.
