Dakota Johnson’s mother trolled over daughter’s video with Cailee Spaeny

Time magazine recently named Dakota Johnson one of the most influential people of 2026.

The actress attended the TIME100 gala, celebrating the magazine’s annual list.

Pop star Taylor Swift showered praise on Johnson in an essay about her friend for Time, as the Materialists actress was featured on it.

The honor came over a month after the Fifty Shades of Grey star left little to the imagination in a bold shoot for Calvin Klein in her debut for the brand.

While her achievements have been widely celebrated by thousands of her fans, her detractors have found something to attack the actress.

A 2018 press video featuring Dakota Johnson and Cailee Spaeny has resurfaced on social media following Johnson’s inclusion on Time magazine’s 2026 list of the 100 most influential people.

Some users posted an edited video combining two clips to put Dakota in a negative light.

In the video from the promotional interview for Bad Times at the El Royale, Johnson, then 28, playfully teases her 20-year-old co-star Spaeny by repeatedly fiddling with her earring in an exaggerated manner while making flirtatious remarks.

Spaeny appears visibly uncomfortable, responding at one point with, “Don’t call me that.”

Co-star Jon Hamm intervenes by swatting Johnson’s hand away. The clip has sparked renewed online debate, with some viewers calling the interaction awkward given the age difference.

When Dakota’s mom, Melanie Griffith, gushed over her daughter on Instagram in a post featuring the Calvin Klein shoot, writing, “My beautiful daughter,” multiple users attacked her by bringing up the viral clip of Dakota Johnson and Cailee Spaeny.
