King Charles given security warning after police announcement

King Charles received an alarming security update after the Metropolitan Police decided to reduce its presence at key royal events.

According to The Telegraph, the police force will reduce its presence at military ceremonies, including Trooping the Colour, due to budget cuts.

The annual public celebration of the British monarch’s birthday takes place in London in June.

According to Metropolitan Police, “The public rightly want to see officers on the front line, arresting criminals and keeping our city safe. That’s our priority.

“Against a backdrop of financial cuts and increased demand, we had to make difficult decisions about what to prioritise to protect Londoners and over recent months have engaged with the Ministry of Defence around proposed changes to how we support military ceremonial events.”

In the past year’s ceremonial military events, 17,800 officers have been deployed, costing an estimated $14 million. Now, a private contractor will fulfil this responsibility.

But the decision raised security concerns, as a source from the army believes that the private security will not “provide the same level of assurance to the soldiers and the public about safety in the face of any potential security risk.”
