Goa may be a favourite holiday destination for many, but a couple from Bengaluru decided to make it their home. Radhika and Ekansh wanted a change from their existing routine and spent over a year planning their move. A month after relocating, Radhika shared a breakdown of the expenses they incurred during the process. Their account covers everything from transporting household belongings to arranging basic facilities in their new house.
Couple spends Rs 75,500 on moving from Bengaluru to Goa
The relocation involved several expenses even before the couple reached their destination. Radhika revealed in an Instagram video that moving out of their housing society in Bengaluru and storing their belongings cost Rs 15,000.Transporting their luggage to Goa required another Rs 24,000. The couple also drove between the two cities, spending Rs 10,000 on petrol, car servicing and the pollution under control (PUC) certificate.
House hunting takes three weeks in Goa
Finding a suitable home took longer than the couple might have expected. Radhika and Ekansh spent three weeks visiting different properties before finalising a house. They stayed in Airbnb accommodations during this period, paying Rs 45,000. However, Radhika kept this amount separate from their additional relocation costs, as she considered it comparable to the rent they would have paid in Bengaluru. The couple spent another Rs 5,000 on petrol while visiting properties. Their expenses on groceries, food orders and eating out came to Rs 12,000.
Setting up the new home costs Rs 9,500
After finalising their house, the couple had to arrange a few household essentials. They spent approximately Rs 9,500 on installing their air conditioner and washing machine and hiring a carpenter and a plumber.Taking these expenses into account, their additional relocation cost came to Rs 75,500. This figure excluded the Rs 45,000 paid for temporary accommodation.
Why Radhika feels the relocation expense was worth it
Radhika compared the amount with the cost of a holiday in Goa. She pointed out that a five-day trip to the state can cost between Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000.Against this, she felt that spending around Rs 75,000 to begin a new life in Goa was worth it. The couple’s experience also highlights the different expenses people may need to consider when planning an intercity move.Disclaimer: The Times of India has not independently verified the claims made in the video.
