Spirit Halloween shooting: One dead, six injured at Fairfield store

There was a death and injuries to six people who were shot inside a Spirit Halloween shop located in Solano Town Centre in Fairfield, California, on Friday night, according to police reports.

The Fairfield Police Department was called to the store around 8:30 pm. Seven people were shot, and one person was pronounced dead at the scene. There were three people in critical condition. Fairfield Police Chief Dan Marshall gave this information about the condition of the wounded people.

No one is under arrest. Neither has there been any suspect named nor has the motive of the shooting been given by the police. In an early Saturday morning update, it came out that the shooting was a targeted attack by a single shooter in the store.

Detectives are actively investigating this case, going through videos and other evidence in order to identify the individual responsible for this terrible crime of violence.

Eyewitnesses reported scenes of chaos. At the time that gunfire erupted, Javier Espinoza and his girlfriend, Alicia Reyes, had completed their Halloween shopping.

The couple, along with roughly a dozen other shoppers, took cover near a security fence located at the rear end of the shopping centre, but then managed to lift the barrier and flee out of the mall.

“We’ve learned from the workplace videos about mass shootings,” Espinoza said. “Always run when you can run.” According to Meina Davis, a shoe store employee, she heard a second volley of gunfire along with the cries of a mother looking for her child. “I’m still in shock,” she said. “It’s just so surreal.”

According to the FBI Sacramento, it would send its Evidence Response Team to help. The Suisun City police and California Highway Patrol were responding too. In addition, Solano Town Centre cancelled its Halloween trick-or-treat festivities, although the mall itself stayed open on Saturday.

Rep. John Garamendi, representing the area of Fairfield, stated: “What was meant to be a day of celebration has now turned into a tragedy.”
