Chelsea Handler claims she bought ‘the most toxic’ house from RFK Jr and Cheryl Hines

Chelsea Handler has opened up about her experience buying a “disaster” property, which was the former home of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Cheryl Hines.

During a recent episode of her podcast, Dear Chelsea, the 51-year-old comedian recalled buying the Los Angeles home five years ago from the now-U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services.

According to Realtor.com, the house is located in Brentwood and was purchased for $5.9 million.

“I still have not lived in this house,” she said on the podcast, noting that she didn’t know Hines and Kennedy, who have been married since 2014, were the owners of the property when she first bought it.

“That’s how f***ed up this house was. The idea that this guy is in charge of the health of our country when he didn’t even have a proper foundation at his house.”

According to Handler, a home inspector told her that the property had “the most toxic environment,” and said she couldn’t live there for at least two years.

“I’m not exaggerating any of this,” she continued. “It was a disaster, and I didn’t know it going in because everything was, you know, under wraps.”

She also claimed that three people have come into that house and told her that it’s “cursed.”

Handler said that after multiple rounds of renovation, it was not until the “last week of inspection” that she discovered another issue.

“They’re like, ‘Oh, there’s a unit.’ There’s been a little outdoor storage unit that’s been there since I bought it. And they’re like, ‘This is illegal,’” Handler added. “So now we have to remove [Kennedy’s] illegal bulls*** from my property. And I’m like, how did they not find this upon the first inspection?”

The Independent has contacted Hines and Kennedy for comment.

She said after she purchased the house, Haines left a note for her that read: “Let us know if there’s anything we can do for you, Chelsea.”

“I’m like, yeah, how about a f***ing founation?” Handler quipped. “That’s something you could do for me.”

Handler also slammed Kennedy and his career, calling him “the embodiment of everything that is wrong with this administration.”

Property records show that the home, located in the Mandeville Canyon neighborhood, was purchased by Handler via a trust that is registered under her sister Simone’s name, according to Realtor.com. The final sale date is listed as Oct. 14, 2021.

The home, built in 1937, has five bedrooms, a spacious backyard and a pool, according to Curbed.
