Elizabeth Olsen opened up about why she prefers to keep her personal life away from the spotlight, saying she doesn’t want people to know her personality too well.
In a new interview with InStyle, the 36-year-old actress explained that her decision to stay off social media comes from a desire to protect her privacy.
“If you put yourself out there, people think that you want them to come in,” she said.
“I don’t want anyone to know my personality all that well. Or identify me as someone who does a specific type of goofy trope video or something on Instagram once a month.”
The Eternity actress said she wants audiences to focus on her work rather than her personal image. “I don’t want people to associate me with a brand.
I want people to watch a movie and see me as a character,” she added, noting that while some actors balance both well, she prefers to keep her online presence limited.
Despite her guarded nature, The Assessment star further insisted she isn’t trying to be mysterious. “I’m not mysterious,” she said.
“I think I’m private in certain aspects, but I say too much. I’m long-winded and circuitous.”
Reflecting on her early years, the star shared that she always wanted to act but didn’t rush into fame.
However, the WandaVision star revealed that she even missed a childhood ballet role because of auditions.
Now, Elizabeth believes that her acting continues to improve with time. “I feel more capable,” she said.
