Being the parent of a newborn brings in a whole new set of responsibilities. When it comes to travelling with the baby, it often seems quite difficult due to sleepless flights, short naps, doubled luggage, and people postponing plans until the little one grows up.Recently, an American mom and content creator, married to an Indian, shared her experience traveling with her newborn first at 6 months old and then again when she turned two.
“Yes, you can travel with a baby”: American mom shares what experiences while travelling with a newborn can teach parents
A content creator and mom is encouraging parents to stop putting off family trips. She is an American married to an Indian and explains that she has taken her daughter to India twice, first when the baby was 6 months old and again when she was nearly two. She shared a throwback video of the two of them on a train and, in her caption, wrote, “Yes, you can travel to India with a baby.”In the video, she confidently shares, “We have travelled to India with our daughter at 6 months and again when she was nearly 2, two vastly different experiences, but my advice to parents wondering if they can travel with a baby or toddler remains the same: you can. And if you can, you should!”The two trips felt very different to her, and that is well understood because a six-month-old and a toddler close to two are at different stages, with different needs, moods, and energy. But according to her, somewhere, the answer stays the same.ID@undefined Caption not available.ID@undefined Caption not available.ID@undefined Caption not available.
One of her main points is about flexibility and changes
She believes a mother sets herself and her child up for success by teaching them from the beginning that routines can be flexible. In her words, “Plans can change, and sometimes you just have to go with the flow. And let’s be honest… my daughter has already proven to be far more adaptable than I am,” she added. Anyone who has travelled with children knows that things rarely go exactly to plan, so a relaxed attitude can make the journey easier for everyone.
Travelling as a whole has changed her too
She says it taught her to slow down, so now she experiences a place at a different pace and cares less about checking every box on a long list. Sharing how this has changed their idea of travelling is that instead of sticking to a rigid itinerary, the focus is on making memories together.“Of course, we’re still at the very beginning of our experience travelling with children, but I hope we’re just getting started. If you have been waiting for the “right” age to travel with your little one, maybe this is your sign,” she said.
