Wanda Skyes looked back on the scandalous Oscar night in 2022, where Will Smith slapped Chris Rock.

During the 2022 Academy Awards, Skyes was hosting the event with Amy Schumer and Regina Hall, and later it got overlooked by the infamous slap.

In an interview with Variety, while discussing about her Netflix series The Upshaws, Skye opened up about the call she received from the Aladdin star, following the show. However, the two never spoke since.

“He called. I had COVID or a bad cold,” she told the outlet. “I just texted to say, ‘Hey, I got your message. Thank you. I can’t talk.’ But he did call.”

Previously, on The Ellen Show, Skye claimed to Ellen DeGeneres she hadn’t heard from Smith, adding that, “No one has apologized to [the hosts], and we worked really hard to put that show together.”

She went on to say that Rock apologised to her saying that “‘It was supposed to be your night. You and Amy and Regina were doing such a great job. I’m so sorry this is now gonna be about this,'” she said at the time. “Because that’s who Chris is.”

Will Smith and Chris Rock unforgettable moment

During the 94th Academy Awards in March 22, comedian Chris Rock was on stage presenting the award for Best Documentary Feature.

While joking with the audience, he made a remark about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, saying, “Jada, I love you. G.I Jane 2, can’t wait to see.”

The reference was said to be her shaved head due to alopecia a condition that causes hair loss.

Smith got upset with the remark resulting in walking up the stage and slapping Rock across his face the returning to his seat as he shouted “keep my wife’s name out of your f—king mouth!”

Following the incident Smith publicly apologised to Rock the next day and was then banned from Oscars for 10 years.
