UWCL recap: Barcelona dismantle Bayern, Arsenal fall short vs. OL Lyonnes

The UEFA Women’s Champions League kicked off the 2025-26 season Tuesday and the big matchups did not disappoint.

Barcelona scored two in the first 12 minutes against Bayern Munich and never let up, showing why they are among the favorites to win the whole competition with a comprehensive 7-1 victory. Meanwhile, champions Arsenal faced eight-time winners OL Lyonnes in a repeat from last year’s semifinals, but lost 2-1 this time around.

In the early game, Juventus knocked off Benfica 2-1 thanks to two goals from Cecilia Salvai. And Belgian club OH Leuven came back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Paris FC.
