Setback for Arshad Nadeem ahead of key international league – SUCH TV

Pakistan’s star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has been ruled out of the Diamond League 2025 due to ongoing fitness concerns, delivering a significant setback ahead of the major international event.

According to reports, the Paris 2024 Olympic gold medallist has been advised by his medical team to skip the high-profile competition to focus on his recovery.

Nadeem is currently undergoing rehabilitation in England and has recently begun putting weight on his injured leg, showing signs of gradual improvement.

Dr. Ali Sher Bajwa, who is overseeing his treatment, described the injury as both recent and serious, requiring careful and sustained management.

Nadeem recently underwent calf muscle surgery in Cambridge to address the issue.

His participation in upcoming events, including the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, will depend on his rehabilitation progress.

A final decision regarding his return to competitive athletics will only be made after a thorough medical evaluation.

The much-anticipated javelin showdown between Arshad Nadeem and India’s Neeraj Chopra at the Silesia Diamond League 2025 is now uncertain.

“He (Nadeem) is focused on preparing for the World Championships in Tokyo, which is why he opted for surgery,” said his manager. “It’s unlikely the two will face off before then.”

Arshad Nadeem made history at the Paris Olympics 2024 by winning gold with a throw of 92.97 meters, ending Pakistan’s 32-year Olympic medal drought and becoming the country’s first-ever individual gold medalist at the Games.

Before his triumph, Pakistan’s last Olympic medal came in 1992 when the national hockey team won bronze at the Barcelona Olympics.
