Ruben Amorim sees ‘different’ Manchester United in pre-season | The Express Tribune

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has lauded his side’s transformation after a 4-1 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League Summer Series on July 31.
Amorim believes the team “looked different” from last season, even though they fielded many of the same players.
Despite missing new signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, who did not feature in the match, United’s dominant performance provided ample optimism for their upcoming campaign.
Amorim said: “It was a good game. We played with intensity, and we were aggressive, something we need to improve from last season.”
He emphasised that the team’s ability to control the match and better possession showed their improved connection both on and off the pitch, saying “It feels like a different team, and that’s a good sign.”
The victory follows a 2-1 win over West Ham, with United showing greater cohesion and understanding under Amorim’s system. The match also saw Rasmus Højlund open the scoring, showcasing the striker’s continued development.
“The improvement is not just in the goals,” Amorim added. “Højlund is connecting well with the team, holding up play, and helping us progress in our game.”
Amorim’s optimism was echoed by Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola, who praised United’s performance: “They are a hell of a team. Today, they showed they are above us.”
United’s pre-season form has been characterised by more intensity and a more refined style, giving supporters hope that the club could be turning a corner after a turbulent season.
Although Amorim acknowledged the challenges ahead, he believes his side’s improved fitness and tactical understanding will be crucial when the competitive matches start.
“We are playing better because they are playing better,” Amorim said, underlining his confidence that United’s pre-season work would lead to positive results in the Premier League.
