Australia Wraps Up Series as Tim David Makes T20 History – SUCH TV

Middle-order batter Tim David made history by scoring the fastest Twenty20 International century for Australia, leading the team to a six-wicket win against the West Indies in the third T20 match on Friday. This victory gives Australia an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

David’s explosive innings included 11 sixes and six fours, concluding at an unbeaten 102 runs off just 37 deliveries, with Australia sealing the match 23 balls to spare at Warner Park in Basseterre, Saint Kitts.

“I was just having a great time in the middle playing for Australia. I didn’t think I would get the opportunity to get a hundred for Australia, so I’m stoked,” David remarked after the match.

He credited the pitch and small boundaries for his success, while also noting his ongoing work on power hitting and shot selection.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, the West Indies made a strong start, with a 125-run opening partnership between Shai Hope and Brandon King.

However, Australia’s Mitchell Owen broke the partnership by dismissing King, while the West Indies struggled to maintain momentum, losing Shimron Hetmyer, Sherfane Rutherford, and Rovman Powell cheaply.

West Indies captain Shai Hope contributed a solid 102 runs off 57 balls, helping the team post a total of 214-4.

Australia’s chase initially faltered at 61-3 in just 5.5 overs, but David’s explosive performance turned the tide, surpassing Josh Inglis’ record of the fastest T20 century for Australia by six balls.

Hope acknowledged the challenge of defending their total, stating, “I don’t think we had enough runs on the board. We fell a few runs short and needed to pick up more wickets.”

He praised the Australian bowlers for their performance in the death overs.

Australia had previously won the first T20 by three wickets and the second by eight wickets.

Australia captain Mitchell Marsh praised the team’s overall performance, saying, “We’ve played well so far in the series. There are no words for that innings from Tim David.”
